Vape-Free in 2026

Hi - I am looking for others who are quitting vaping.

I have quit multiple times, for months at a time, but I always start again. My DH vapes and is not interested in quitting which is difficult as I always know there's a vape in the house. Although, on the bright side, I have learnt something new each time I have "quit" and now I hopefully know how to be successful.

I really want this time to be different and would love to find some people in a similar position for support and encouragement. Whether you have quit, are currently trying to quit, or just thinking about it. All welcome.

Today is my Day 1.

Doing really well this time round @Noreeen! I barely think about it most of the time, just the mornings and when I have a glass of wine in my hand. How are you doing?

I totally misread your post initially as "just mornings when I have a glass of wine in my hand". Grin Wine
I am really pleased to hear it's going well for you. Long may that be the case.
I am alright. I don't think about it until I do... I had a bit of a row with my boss earlier (over teams) and I really wanted to vape when I got off the call, but I did didn't.
I am trying to channel my energy into different things - it is mostly working!

Just to clarify I DIDN'T vape earlier. My last post made that somewhat ambiguous! 😂

Brilliant news @izzy2076 !!

Well done! Particularly if you had work stresses going on. Stress has literally always been the thing that has broken me!!
I hope you are still going strong! xx

Hahahaha that’s really made me laugh! I’m not quite at the point of having a glass of wine with breakfast yet but if DD keeps testing me today then tomorrow might be a different story 😂

Agreed on the not thinking about until you do. It’s that singular second of going to reach for your vape and then realising you don’t have one, and then thinking about it for ages afterwards.

izzy2076 · 14/03/2026 07:31

Day 20 here and I’m now at on a much reduced dose of Desmoxan/cytisine. I promise you I’m not a brand ambassador but I honestly don’t think I’d have managed without it.

It’s so much easier now although having reduced the dose of Desmoxan I do feel a bit antsy again. Dopamine levels seem to be stabilising, sleep is better and I now go for hours without thinking about vaping.

A really good deterrent is telling myself I never ever want to go through days 2,3 and 4 of quitting again.

blankcanvas3 · 14/03/2026 09:53

@izzy2076glad it’s worked for you, do you think there were any side effects? or was it just the side effects from quitting vaping?

izzy2076 · 14/03/2026 10:38

@blankcanvas3 really bad insomnia and constipation but I’m not a sure whether that was the nicotine withdrawal.

Probably nicotine withdrawal. I went though that!

blankcanvas3 · 14/03/2026 20:48

Oh god yes, the constipation days. I wanted to die.

NotrialNodeal · 14/03/2026 20:57

Bad times <<shudders>>

I knew you’d return at the mention of constipation

Shared trauma. Here for that.

How's everyone doing? Day 22 for me and I am feeling OK mostly. I went for a 6k run earlier and could actually breathe (I wasn't planning to run that far but I went with my friend and she dragged me!). Grin
I have lost almost 9lbs - I was a bit worried stopping vaping would stall my weight loss, and I would be eating all the time time, but it's been alright so far.

I hope everyone else is getting on OK! xx

Quitting vaping and loosing weight?! That is majorly impressive noreeen! Well done you! I fasted one day this week for 20 hours and felt amazing lol. But that's the extent of it! You have put me to shame! I will try and do a couple of days fasting this coming week.

blankcanvas3 · 22/03/2026 13:12

Well done on your weight loss @Noreeen that’s amazing!! How did you find your run? I’m finding running far easier now I’m not vaping.

I’m in London to watch the Carabao Cup final, we had our first beer at 11am so I’m expecting to find today really hard especially as all of our friends vape/smoke when they’ve been drinking

Noreeen · 23/03/2026 15:36

How did you get on in London @blankcanvas3 ?

I hope it wasn't too hard and you are doing OK!

Noreeen · 23/03/2026 15:38

Re: weight loss - thank you. Oddly having something else to focus on has helped with the no vaping I think?

I haven't run for over a year - so it's still at the stage where it feels utterly horrendous when I am doing it. But the lungs are doing better than when I was vaping!

OP posts:
blankcanvas3 · 23/03/2026 18:40

Smoked 15 cigarettes @NoreeenBlush But I didn’t vape! And haven’t even thought about smoking OR vaping today so I think it’s a little win? If I’d have vaped, I’d have still had some left over this morning and ended up continuing today.

Are you doing a particular diet or just cutting calories? I think if your brain is thinking more about food you’re thinking less about vaping so a win is a win

Noreeen · 23/03/2026 21:13

Ah cigarettes don't count!! Grin I hope you had loads of fun!!

I am just cutting calories, trying to eat more protein and fiber, and less junk more fruit/veg, blah blah - but definitely not starving myself.
I have been meal prepping - not sure who I am anymore TBH. Hmm

OP posts:
Noreeen · 23/03/2026 21:14

I might try smoking cigarettes instead of vaping next time I go out out drinking. You might be into something!!

Rather sheepishly coming back to this thread, you've all done so well! I can't wait to say the same 🙈😭
I messed up pretty bad and went back to full strength liquid. I'm not even sure why! BUT I've cut back down to 6mg and got my 3mg ready to go. I've pretty much picked my quit date (deliberating whether to stop in the Easter holidays or just after they've finished). I'm going abroad in June and want to have a good month under my belt to get over the worst of it so it doesn't ruin my holiday.
DH still going but I've banned myself from his vape (so far, so good but I imagine it will be tough when I don't have my own).
I know the first few days are the toughest cravings-wise but I'm more concerned about the longer term- I fell into a complete depression at about month 3 the first time I quit. I need strategies!

blankcanvas3 · 24/03/2026 19:58

Welcome back @Vapeaddict, if you cut down to 3mg soon you can be vape free by the end of April!

Vapeaddict · 26/03/2026 16:49

Thanks @blankcanvas3! Last few days have been really hard, the 6 just doesn't hit the spot the same. Cravings for cigs are creeping in.

Wondering whether to stick with tapering or rip the plaster off and just bin the lot. It's all I can bloody think about anyway so how much worse can it be! Kicking myself (again) for ever picking it up/back up after I quit the first time.

blankcanvas3 · 27/03/2026 11:36

Can you get some nicotine patches and just go cold turkey?
