I’m on day 4 no smoking in patches. Anyone else giving up for 2020?
I’ve smoked since I was 17 except when pregnant x2 and am now 45!! Time to knock it on the head. Would be great to hear from others who are taking the plunge! Smile

Hi all, I'm doing well.. had one the other day after a drunken night out but that's my only failing since New Year's Day. I can live with that. It's been much easier this week.. last week was hell on Earth as I stopped the patches mind!!
I have saved over £1000 and bought myself some much needed garden furniture!

purplepenny500 · 15/03/2020 17:59

Where is everyone? Miss you all! 😞

purplepenny500 · 15/03/2020 18:01

Sorry, I hadn’t noticed some of you had replied! Well done! £1000 is amazing, you so deserve that garden furniture! How’s it going Beth?

Murphs1 · 16/03/2020 08:19

Hi all, great to see everyone is doing well and there are some more newbies joining. I’m still soldiering on, it does get soooo much easier as time goes along and you def get to the point where you think about it less and less which is a relief. Wow 1k saved that’s a amazing!! I’ve decided to put my daily spend in a pot from today as would be a great motivator to see the cash build up. Have a good Monday Grin

Hi all, how is everyone doing in the face of such a rubbish time? I am finding it ok even though my dad is currently in hospital with the CV.. he is stable which is good news..
I'm not going to let it make me smile again.. my wine consumption may have drastically increased however!

DENMAN03 · 22/03/2020 21:52

Smoke not smile!

purplepenny500 · 23/03/2020 16:52

I’m glad to see you are both going strong Denman and Murphs! Sorry to hear about your dad but I’m pleased he is stable. The virus has made me think about smoking, especially as I have a lot more time on my hands but then I remind myself of the nature of the virus and the million things wrong with smoking and I manage to push the feeling aside. How are you all keeping yourselves busy? Xx

Moonlite · 23/03/2020 19:14

Can I join? I dont smoke cigarettes but have quit vaping today in light of CV. I want to give myself the best chance of coping if I get it and vaping definitely isnt good. I'm using high strength patches and have bought gum as well.

Sorry about your dad denman glad he is stable,, how are you feeling

Murphs1 · 24/03/2020 19:36

Hope your dad gets well soon den man. Great your managing not to smoke. The virus is helping me to keep on track as obviously smoking puts you more at risk from complications if you were to contract CV. I’m actually really busy home schooling the kids!! Confused glad you’re still smoke free purple penny x

Great news, my dad is out of hospital now and recovering at home! Was a rather worrying time and I did have 1 cig last week after I found some in a coat pocket when I was clearing out my wardrobe! Crushed the rest and put them in the bin but just wanted that one fag. To be honest I didn't even enjoy it that much and only smoked half of it. Still, onwards and upwards.

purplepenny500 · 31/03/2020 23:18

That’s great news, Denman! You have done really well to have had only one, don’t even think about it. How’s the homeschooling coming along Murphs? Welcome, Moon! How’s the non-vaping going?
I’m pregnant! Even more reason to not smoke, it’s early days but I’m so pleased I gave up before I got pregnant.

duletty · 05/04/2020 21:30

Keep going Smile it’s a new time for us

Murphs1 · 28/04/2020 21:44

Wow purplepenny500, that’s amazing news many congratulations!!!! A great motivator for you. How is everyone else doing? I am still a bit up and down and stop start to be honest, but am not smoking presently.

Denman03 great news about your dad 😁

I'm still off them. 4 months now... still want one every day but I think that's because I'm just bored at home. Replaced it with wine and chocolate which is not so good but needs must!

TooOldForThis67 · 07/05/2020 13:45

Can I join please?
On Champix, day 21 and still smoking! I was cutting down ok when the nausea was kicking in but that's worn off now. Funny thing is, it's made me cut down on booze, just not fancying it as much as before, which is good. Due to Covid, I've paid privately for my prescription, so that's £80 on top of cost of fags. So disappointed.

chilling19 · 18/08/2020 19:22

Hello all if you are still there? Day 3 for me - how are you all doing?

Murphs1 · 29/08/2020 21:57

Hi chilling, I’m still here and still going. Hope
You’ve got through your 1st week. How’s everyone else getting on? X

I gave up the week before lockdown. It’s not easy but l have made it this far. I am still using the Nicolette inhalator, although only 1 capsule every other day. It has to go as it is like sucking on a dummy, disgusting. Have put a stone on but have lost my smokers cough completely and saved so much money !!
Good luck everyone!

chilling19 · 29/08/2020 22:57

Hi! Day 14 with patches and a vape. First week was ok, this week had been harder. How far are you in?

Murphs1 · 30/08/2020 12:48

I was a bit stop start for a few months but stopped properly in March. I feel so much better, more energy and also not so stressed. That constant when can I have a cigarette is always in the back of your mind and it’s nice not to think about it now. I have no cravings really and have actually lost weight as have more energy to exercise. It is hard at first but totally worth it, its like a new phase in your life, but a good one and once you’re free of the cravings and see the benefits you won’t look back. 2 weeks is great, worst bit over, keep going x
**@DENMAN03* and @purplepenny500* how are you both getting along?
Hi Murphy, I'm pleased to say I am still off the fags! My smoking app tells me I have saved nearly £3,500 and I haven't smoked 5577 cigarettes! Can't say it's been easy but it definitely is easier now and I feel so much better for it.

chilling19 · 30/08/2020 23:46

DEN £3500! I did give them up for two years a while ago so I knew what to expect. Still been hard though. My breathing is a bit easier though, so that is keeping me going. Also trying not to eat the fridge.

chilling19 · 30/08/2020 23:47

Murphs yes I I will be glad to get rid of the cravings. I just want to be free of this addiction.
