As the old one is nearly full!

All & any vaping chat welcome.

No question is too daft to ask. We've all been there at the start of vaping in the minefield that it is.

Only rule is: No Willy Waving!!

The extra money will come in very handy as I have both dc birthdays next month then Xmas of course. Unfortunately I already know I shall have a very large tax bill in January 2017 so after Xmas will have to start putting aside all I can. But I ave a new haircut, a new colour and new boots!
Another unexpected side effect is that I've lost weight!
I think I knew something had to change re the smoking for a few months, and I think I was subconsciously trying to cut down but binging on biscuits and crisps etc to occupy myself. There's been no need to binge. I've felt as cool as cucumber throughout. Really, I am utterly bemused over what's happened to me over the past 8 days.
There's no getting away from it I am still addicted to nicotine but I am not going to rush things now and ruin the whole thing.
Trying very hard not to start evangelising to other people, just enjoying being quietly tickled pink.

Well done TC :)

I've converted a few people to vaping without needing to evangelise - you'll probably find that smokers will show a lot of interest in your vaping and ask questions, especially if (like me) you maintain the habit of going out to smokers' corner at break times.

I've been vaping for 18 months and just went down to 12mg nicotine (from 18mg). Haven't noticed any difference at all. Also noticed that when I recently went abroad and couldn't vape for most of the day, my cravings were way less than they used to be when I was smoking. I did enjoy it when I eventually got out of the airport and could fire up my vape stick though Grin

PlentyOfPubeGardens · 14/10/2015 18:44

I'm still on 18mg and have been for the last two years Grin Mind you, I only vape at 8-9 watts and don't get through much liquid. But yes, far less severe cravings if I'm in a situation where I can't vape.

nevergettime · 15/10/2015 18:13

Hoping to tag on. Total you have inspired me more. I had an Kanger evod 2 starter kit delivered last Wednesday along with some 18mg e liquid and haven't even been tempted to smoke a ciggy since. Also knocking on 50 and smoked since in my late teens. It is a miracle !! Attempts with patches, gum, cold turkey all failed. I know it's only been a week but never felt this good when quitting before. Vaping tastes so much nicer than smoking, you feel so much better and smell so much better too. Nicotine without the tar, chemicals and nasty side effects - the whole world of smokers need to know.

Raia · 15/10/2015 18:17

couldn't agree more, nevergettime - and congrats on binning the fags Flowers

Thanks for the support. Just one thing I'm wanting to ask. I am sleeping well but as soon as I wake in the morning I am craving, not to smoke but to vape !! Couple of puffs on my e cig and I'm fine. Did any one else find this in the early days ? and will it pass ?

There is a pic on my free liquid thread, so if anyone want them, pm me your address (or PM me, i'll send my email, then you can email me)
Magi, i'll post yours out when i get to the post office :)

magimedi · 19/10/2015 08:29

Three years today since I had a stinky!!!

I would never have believed it - without vaping I'd still be smoking, I'm sure of that.

My lung funtion has improved vastly. I can now swim 1K of front crawl in 27 mins & walk up steep, steep hills without wheezing. I have sropped a dress size & feel amazing.

Keep on vaping, vipers!

I've been Vaping for 13 days now and haven't had a proper cigarette in that time either which us a huge achievement as I've been in 20 a day for about 25 years with a few stops in between.

I've been Vaping 24mg liquid which has been fine for me (after the first few days when I felt really ill but think I had a virus) but the last few days I've felt like it's not enough and that I need an actual cigarette to feel more satisfied.
I don't know why as I really really don't actually want to smoke a cigarette and really enjoy Vaping but I don't feel satisfied.
Do I need a stronger liquid or to vape more? Or is it a phase?
Thanks Smile

magimedi · 19/10/2015 22:30

Vape more, verystressed.

It's very different to smoking where you would puff on a whole fag & get the nicotine.

Puff that much on a vape & you just don't get the same level of nicotine as you do off a fag. So little & often is the way to go.

Keep that vape close & use it as often as you want. You won't sit & vape for the same time that it would take you to have a cig but you might well vape 4 times in an hour, whereas you'd have only had one fag in an hour.

Just take a toke when you feel like a cig & enjoy it!

OP posts:
verystressedmum · 19/10/2015 22:46

I think I'm Vaping 4 times a minute Grin but I'll keep going. I'm not going to smoke ever again.
Thank you.

Three years - how many have you not smoked in that time?

magimedi · 20/10/2015 09:08

Three years - how many have you not smoked in that time?

I just worked out (at 20 a day) it's roughly 109,500!!!!!!!!!!!!

OP posts:
verystressedmum · 20/10/2015 11:56

Omg 109,500!!!! Such a huge amount of cigarettes!
It's such an achievement magi to be smoke free for 3 years and to not have smoked that many. Well done and here's to the next 3 years!!

magimedi · 20/10/2015 12:44

You'll be there soon, verystressed.

I smoked for even longer than you - at least 40 years!!!

I'm not here to boast about my achievement, just to encourage everyone else.

I feel the same this week. All good for the first 10 days or so but since the weekend I feel a bit like I'm vaping fresh air and it's not taking the cravings away as well as it did. Vaping 18mg every 10 -15 mins and determind not to smoke. Swapping flavours reg and waiting for it to pass ...... Lets hope it's a phase very but any more help and advise eagerly awaited by me too.

verystressedmum · 20/10/2015 19:51

Magi, hearing that you've done it is so encouraging. When I hear that you smoked the same amount of cigarettes as me per day makes me realise that I can do it too.

Nevergettime, I think it is a bit of a phase that you feel like that. I felt that for a few days but today is good, I don't crave an actual cigarette. Though I didn't actually want a cigarette I just wanted that strong hit of nicotine I think.
I vape all the time. Much more than every 10-15 minutes! I would say I take a few puffs every 3 minutes if I'm just sitting watching tv or on mumsnet.
Actually it's more than every 3 minutes! ConfusedBlush then other times I don't vape as much. but I'm just doing what I need to to get off the cigarettes.

It's been 14 days now and it's been really easy to not smoke (even though I feel like I'm still smoking) I just hope that's it's not a 'high' of being off the ciggies and I'll get bored of Vaping or something and go back to smoking. It's happened before, I've stopped smoking felt great and smug for a few weeks thinking that was me off them forever then the awful craving to smoke would come with a vengeance and I'd be back on them.
But I didn't vape then, I really feel like I'll never smoke again because I don't need to. Vaping does the same thing.
I see people smoking and think to myself why don't they vape they'll be getting the nicotine they need from it and they won't be killing themselves in the process.
I hope my new found smugness doesn't back fire on me!!!

Omg I'll stop rambling now. In my defence I've taken a tramadol for my horrific sciatica Grin

magimedi · 20/10/2015 22:13

Sorry to hear about the sciatica - have also had it & it's a bugger.

When I am watching TV and/or if have had Wine I reckon I take a puff every 3 mins or so.

And why not?

Vaping is the only example, in my 60 years on this earth, of having your Cake & eating it!

Vape away & enjoy it!

ANd if you aren't getting quite the hit you want it's maybe time to upgrade your kit.

I have the mini nautilus + Ileaf I stick battery & get a real lung fill every time I vape.

Just checking in after another week Sterling-free.

Congratulations magi, my 530 cigarettes-not-smoked seems a bit paltry but I'll get there! Of course, when I consider that those 530 Sterling would have cost me £180, that puts a different slant on it!
Well I feel fine - very fine in fact. I am using the vape a lot, I think I'm staving off cravings before they start. I am not going to worry about whether it's right to vape so much because
a) my chest is very clear
b) all my body systems are working better even bowels (ahem, my apologies)
c) slight weight loss continues
d) no longer reluctant to cuddle in bed in case of a coughing fit
e) no longer paranoid about clothes/breath
f) can invite people into house without fumigating first
g) debit cards enjoying its less hectic lifestyle.
If I can keep this up I will not have to beg my asthmatic friend to give me one of her salbutamol inhalers just in case I get a cough/cold this winter and can't breathe. Which is what I have been doing for the past few years. Shameful.

I know most of you won't be interested in my waffle. But telling you anyway refocuses me on why I'm doing this. I am still addicted to nicotine but I am managing it much better and when the time is right I'll deal with that.
