As the old one is nearly full!

All & any vaping chat welcome.

No question is too daft to ask. We've all been there at the start of vaping in the minefield that it is.

Only rule is: No Willy Waving!!

I bought a mini nautilus plus battery, coils and all the gear that goes with it including a pretty lacey metal tank cover.
Sad Sad thing is I don't like it, compared to my (cheap and lightweight) starter kit from e-cig wizard it's a real effort to get a "pull" from it.
Is there anywhere (or anyone) that would buy a second hand one? It's only had caramel juice in it and been filled twice since May I think!!

magimedi · 27/08/2015 11:00

I am amazed that you can't get any pull from your mini nautilus - are you sure you have the air holes properly open? They actually 'click' into position.

This is worth a read as well:

Hope that helps!

Pink definitely check your air flow - you should find one of the 4 settings that suit you.

pinkrocker · 27/08/2015 18:51

I did, it's on maximum air flow, I just divvnt like it! Sad

PlentyOfPubeGardens · 28/08/2015 20:14

Hang on to the battery pink it should be compatible with the rest of your kit. Set it to 3.7 volts and it will put out the same power as your starter battery.

Once you've been vaping a while there is enormous pressure to upgrade all the time but you don't have to! If you're happy with your kit there's no reason except shinyitis not to stick with it. After all, most of us smoked the same brand of fags or tobacco for decades without continually wanting the newest thing Grin

If you're not happy with it, or just fancy an upgrade but don't know what to - what do you like and not like about your starter kit? Maybe someone can suggest something. Is it this kit you're using?

PlentyOfPubeGardens · 28/08/2015 20:43

I've been reading chunks of the PHE report while Jeffrey's been playing. It's very very good!

The thing the media all reported was the idea that ecigs should be available on prescription. That's neither here nor there really, anything that gets a medicinal licence will be boring and ineffective, although it would have a place, especially in MH and other hospital settings and for people on very low incomes who can't risk the cost of a starter kit if they don't know it will work for them.

The report goes much wider though. It's critical of MHRA for putting too high barriers on getting a medicinal licence and critical of the Tobacco Products Directive and how it will limit vaping as a harm reduction measure. It also calls for an end to 'gateway effect' claims because it's an unmeasurable, unscientific concept (and even as popularly understood, there's no evidence of it). It's quite long but you can get the gist from the executive summary in the first few pages.

There's a bloody marvellous radio programme here - it was on last year but has been updated in light of the PHE report. My personal highlight was hearing the BBC explain why Stan Glantz is wrong Grin

Oh yes and there's a thingy to sign here to try to stop the TPD in light of the report. It's very sensibly argued but I don't know how possible it is for the UK government to refuse to implement EU law. There's nothing to lose though, so go on ...

ginmakesitallok · 29/08/2015 08:48

Thanks plenty, that programme was really interesting.

pinkrocker · 29/08/2015 12:18

The same battery Plenty but with eBay sourced (they were linked on here!) glass mouthpieces that fill from the bottom!

ginmakesitallok · 29/08/2015 13:33

EBay sourced stuff might be your problem. You've little way of knowing if they are genuine

PlentyOfPubeGardens · 30/08/2015 07:22

Are they the gs-h2's from tech-spec1 pink?

pinkrocker · 30/08/2015 08:37

this mouthpiece and a 900 ego battery from ecigwizard. All genuine, as is the mini nautilus which arrived from Amazon.
Just don't like the mini nautilus! Sad

PlentyOfPubeGardens · 30/08/2015 09:26

Stick with the protank if you're happy with it Smile

Holy moly, fellow vipers! Just took delivery of an Aspire Atlantis 2 tank. All I can say is Great Clouds of Vapour ShockShock

Welshmaenad · 11/09/2015 07:49

I've been calling for a few weeks using a Blu refillable. Took the plunge yesterday and treated myself to a Curve2 from Totally Wicked and am experimenting with different liquids. 4 weeks today of no fags and I'm really loving vaping but still feel like a clueless newbie!

MotherOfFlagons · 20/09/2015 19:58

Hello vaping vipers. I bought my first vape thingy today.

I've smoked off and on for about 20 years but never more than 5-10 cigs per day. For the last year or so I've been thinking of trying e-cigs but it all seemed horribly complicated so I've been putting it off, but today I passed a vaping shop and on the spur of the moment went in for chat.

I came out with a vape and a bottle of stuff. The guy behind the counter was really helpful, explained it all and showed me how to fill it up, as well as giving general tips.

So hello!

Ledare · 20/09/2015 23:48

Hello MotherOfFlagons (great name)

How are you getting on?

Ledare · 20/09/2015 23:50

And to WelshMaenad as well Smile

ditavonteesed · 21/09/2015 07:39

I think I have caught shinyitis of you lot, got my eye on this now pretty. Can't really justify it at the moment since I only just bought my coolfire IV. Like the idea of a proper boxmod so just charging batteries so no run out ever.

Welshmaenad · 21/09/2015 08:35

I've got an istick 50w and du rank coming by courier today.

It has started.

Welshmaenad · 21/09/2015 08:36

Subtank even!

magimedi · 22/09/2015 11:32

Whilst on holidays my mini nautilus had a terminal accident - sob!

I've just bought a replacement & was idly reading all the instructions for filling it & no where did it mention putting a couple of drops of liquid onto the coil at the start of a new coil ???? Is this something new?

Evening all, wecome to Welsh and Mother. Congratulations on taking the plunge Flowers

dita, I saw on another thread your Atlantis was leaking, is it still? I'm not familiar with that tank but it could be changes in temperature as you go outside then inside again. The weather is getting cooler and a lot of tanks don't like the temperature difference.

I think I'd put a couple of drops on the coil, it can't hurt, but you've probably worked it out by now anyway. Did you have a good holiday, except for the sad demise of the nautilus?

In case anybody hasn't seen it yet, Totally Wicked have a court date - 1st October! They're still collecting supporting signatures so if you haven't yet, please do add your name. They are also asking as many as possible to turn up and support them when they hand in all the signatures at the DoH on 29th September. I'm going so if anybody wants to meet up, PM me.

magimedi · 22/09/2015 22:26

I did indeed put a couple of drops on the coil!

And had a wonderful & very hot holiday in Turkey - where I virtually had to hide my vape kit as all the Turks were so interested & wanted to try it1 At least 10 randoms a day came up to me to ask about it!

ditavonteesed · 23/09/2015 07:37

it is, it's driving me mad, I am closing all the air vents before I put it in my bag but it seems to want to be upright. At first I thought I had increased the amount I am vaping dramatically then I looked in my bag. I read something on a different tank about keeping it filled to above a certain level keeping the seasl better so going to try that for now which is a bit of a pain as I tend to empty it then change flavours a lot.
