Clearomisers, Clearos, Tanks, Cartomisers, Atomisers

As the title says, thread about the different types of e-liquid containers that are attached to batteries.

Cartomisers are the sealed disposable containers used in cigalike devices. They are prefilled with the liquid and have a built in atomiser to vaporise the liquid

Clearos, clearomisers and tanks are different names for the same thing, a refillable container for the liquid which also has an atomiser - though in many cases this atomiser can be replaced or even "rebuilt" i.e. the coil and wick replaced.

It looks like one of these?

PlentyOfPubeGardens · 11/05/2014 14:43

Yes, those are they. TW/TECC sell a lot of rebranded stuff.

Cantabile · 13/05/2014 09:23

Thanks. I won't bother then!

Sorry to disappoint you Lauren, but your clearo just looks like a run of the mill clearomiser to me. Nothing spectacularly leak proof about it. Also, the website you link to doesn't give any info re the size is of batteries? Seems expensive for what it is. Try vapeescape for better priced good quality e cigs.

Allergictoironing · 14/05/2014 06:31

I'm also a little unimpressed by that site; not particularly cheap (the kits or the juice), tiny range of flavours, serious shortage of info. Plus suggestions that bog standard features are special - I find it hard to think of any clearo that doesn't have a metal coil!

It's a CE5 on top of a not very big ego battery - 650 mah? Expensive for what you get.

Cantabile · 14/05/2014 09:12

It is a bit uninspiring, that site, and I hate the liquids being called 'refills' which, in my head, means something else. They don't really seem very au fait with the vaping world so I don't feel too trusting of them.

Lauren, despite all that, you've got some perfectly good kit which will work. However, when you need more stuff - new clearos, spare battery, liquid etc - there are cheaper places with lots of choice. There are seriously blingy things out there Grin

Raia · 14/05/2014 23:10

I'm getting a nasty plasticky/metallic burnt taste from the iclear 30 now despite putting a new atomiser head on a few days ago Hmm This clearo is turning out to be a right faff! I think I'll stick to bottom coil clearos in future (the aerotank is way better). Anyone else had this problem?

OohQuack · 25/05/2014 22:42

I can't decide wether to buy the new kanger enclosed wick dual coils, has anyone tried them? Should I stick with the normal ones?

Raia · 26/05/2014 14:10

I'm going to give those new Kanger coils a go next time I stock up. Friend just got the Aerotank Mega which comes with the new coil design and it vapes excellently Smile

OohQuack · 26/05/2014 14:49

Ok so perhaps not many have tried them yet then. I'll just get them and be done with it... I need to spend :-D shall let you know how I get on.

Cantabile · 26/05/2014 21:22

Oh, do report back! I'm quite interested and haven't bought any new kit for a while. I think I shall be needing aome new clearos very soon, even though I hate yhe idea that my lovely iClear 16s may be dying a death by now.....

OohQuack · 28/05/2014 21:41

So far so good. They arrived today and they are all flavour. The ones I got are 1.5ohms im sure they would do a 2 aswell.

Raia · 29/05/2014 12:52

I have a question about ohms Confused I cleaned my coil head last night in vodka and left it to dry overnight in my vape sponge ... this morning I reassemble my tank (aerotank, kanger dual coil head) and it's now reading as 2.5 ohms when yesterday it was 2 ohms. Anyone know why the ohm reading has changed? Just wondering!

Cantabile · 29/05/2014 17:13

Could it be that the conductance has improved as a result of losing all the gunge? That's a complete guess, btw Wink

PlentyOfPubeGardens · 29/05/2014 19:30

Don't know raia but I would take it as a sign the coil is on its way out. I don't do dual coils but I have noticed that my single coils go higher resistance when they are getting a bit old.

Raia · 29/05/2014 22:26

Yeah I think you're right, it's on its way out. I bought some generic ones and they're a false economy Confused

Allergictoironing · 30/05/2014 08:06

Though I agree in general Raia, I have noticed a fair variation in how long coils last even from the same batch e.g. I have a couple of CE4s that have lasted months, and some I bought at the same time which died within a few weeks; same with GS-H2s and even the packet of replacement atomisers I got from Slowtech.

OohQuack · 02/06/2014 19:56

The new dual coils enclosed wick seemed to last three days before it constantly flooded and popped and liquidin my mouth bleugh I've got 9 more to get through though...

PlentyOfPubeGardens · 02/06/2014 20:10

That sounds crap oohquack. What resistance (ohms) are they? The problems you describe sound similar to my first efforts with rebuildables - I'm wondering if they are quite low resistance? If you have variable voltage/wattage, try turning it down a bit. Also you could try giving them a good blow through with a drinking straw.

OohQuack · 02/06/2014 20:50

They are 1.5 my mvpv2 is arriving tomorrow if it's a case of turning down voltage/wattage I can't on my egos clearly but what would you suggest on the new toy mvp?

Tried blowing through them but got to the stage where Ihad to do it inbetween vapes!! Not ideal

PlentyOfPubeGardens · 02/06/2014 21:19

Oh yes that's quite low. A standard ego is 3.7 V so I'd go about 3.5 or even 3.4V. I never play with the wattage settings but looking at my chart that's about 8W.
