See apologise. I was about to phone a shrink, thought I was going loopy

Squirrel3 · 25/02/2006 16:47

Ok, I appologise but being loopy is part of the job description of being a stepmum!

ok, DSD phoned yesterday saying see neeeds a gumsheild for hockey by monday and DP is to buy it. I played hockey for years and never needed one. Is it just BM trying to get more money out of him. Not sounded mean but if they need gumsheilds for hockey then they are playing it wrong. Never got hit in the mouth once.

tarantula · 26/02/2006 19:42

sleepytinkerbell · 27/02/2006 11:31

Hi there to all, i am hoping that i can join in your chats from time to time. I have 2 step kids dsd almost 16 dss 14 and two of my own ds1 age 6 and ds2 18 months. All was great until last summer when step kids just seemed to hit teenagedom (late) and overnight like a battering ram. I find myself getting more and more protective over my children and less and less patient with my step children who I have prior to this always had a great relationship with. I am finding it so hard to be fair to all their needs and am racked with guilt for finding my self feeling the 'your children' v my children feelings. does anyone else have any advice to share i sure could do with any advice or support right now!

bm3sm2 · 27/02/2006 13:26

Hi everyone and welcome to you sleepytinkerbell!!
This board is brilliant as everyone is going through the same things or have done at some point or other. Its not easy being a parent and even harder to be a stepparent. I think we all have the your kids/my kids feelings, its only natural. Sometimes we as parents can't see in our kids what others can, almost like a smokescreen. We have had many a "discussion" about our mixture of kiddies and at the end of the day we are always going to stick up for our own flesh and blood.

How long have you been a stepmum? I have been one now for 3 years (7 years dh and I have been together, so officially stepmum for 3 years but longer if you see what I mean!)

SiobhanW · 27/02/2006 13:42

Hellooooo - well thanks for filling me in Bm3sm2 - By God what a talented lot ... and me an international jewel thief and spy to boot - can't name names of course !!! Wink Well I am now the proud possessor of an new air filter ( oh and some oil too !!) - be still my beating heart !!! - What did you end up buying DP in the end Naam? Did you go for the tow bar ??!! ( sounds slightly creepy that last sentence !)

Squirrel3 · 27/02/2006 14:10

Hello Siobhan, it was me that was considering buying the tow bar for my dp, but after the weekend I have just had with him if I had bought him one I would be tempted to shove it up his @rse.......

.......sideways.........

.......as far as it will go..........Wink

And presumably we can safely say that KY jelly will not be included as part of this procedure ? Shock !!

Squirrel3 · 27/02/2006 14:24

PMSL, most definitely not! Grin

OP posts:
NotActuallyAMum · 27/02/2006 14:33

What a waste of a good towbar Grin

Welcome sleepytinkerbell Smile I don't have children of my own but I can certainly relate to the "them" and "me" feeling, think all stepmums are the same

I am so tired now, think the weekend is catching up with me. Must get an early night tonight....
