Just a Wednesday fan here waiting patiently for Man City to receive a punishment that nearly destroys them as a club in the same way we were nearly ended by the EFL because our dodgy owner didn’t cross the t’s on the sale of our training ground and eventually couldn’t pay the staff. This time last year we were having go fund me’s to pay the staff in the club shop. Points deductions, transfer embargoes, wage caps for years… it won’t happen though because city are big six and will somehow buy themselves out of it.
I feel sorry for city fans-it’s not their fault and it’s a horrible feeling. But I doubt they will be punished like Wednesday were, or for that matter, Derby, Everton, Barrow FC…..they are just too big in terms of the revenue they bring to the premier lesgue and the TV money etc.

I hope City get the book thrown at them. I’m not interested in financial penalties, I want a 70 point deduction this season, then a 50 point deduction next time they are in the premier league then a 30 point deduction the next time they are in the premier league. And throw in a transfer ban for good measure.

No sympathy for City fans after over a decade of bliss whilst they’ve buried their heads in the sand and argued everything was all legit whilst it clearly wasn’t.

However, I cannot abide the victim mentality coming from Liverpool and United. The rules that were broken protect those clubs from ever facing real competition. No other clubs will ever build the revenue required to successfully challenge their status. It can only be done by sustained success or cheating. City cheated but no team is going to get sustained success within the rules.

City are the cheats but ethically the rest of the big 6 are no better. It’s galling watching them take the moral high ground. Super league anyone?

I agree. Like you I love most sport (cannot get on with cricket), love tennis, athletics and football. Football brings its highs and lows but people don't always understand how emotional it can be.

I love art, literature, history, studying and football. It is possible to like many things.

This whole thing leaves a massive legacy of clubs and therefore supporters who have been through all those emotions - losing matches, cups, places in Europe and relegation. I don't know what the answer is.

Like you @Ted27I have been diagnosed with cancer this year and send you all the best wishes in the world. Although we are fans of different teams Hillsborough, Jota and beyond resonated with true football fans of all teams. I was at Old Trafford the day of Hillsborough and we heard the news through a tiny radio someone in the crowd had, it was a really somber atmosphere. When we got back on the coach the magnitude of the disaster became evident and not one person expressed anything but sadness.

The absolute hypocrisy.....what have city done....really....really? The money belonged to the owners who wanted to put it into the club, they felt they had to get the best players and coach to challenge for competions, and if you look at Europe 1 champions league, a couple fa cups, and look how much united and Liverpool have spent over the same time, it's all nonsense, really tell what have they done....levelled the playing field, oh no we can't have that can we...and in one paper today saying the UAE should not be able to own a football club, the bigotry...

Massive fine and several years transfer embargo, relative to how long they have been owners, has to be the very minimum punishment. Abu Dhabi came in and just railroaded their way to PL titles, a CL title and other cup wins and the relegation of teams. Do they pass the ‘fit and proper’ ownership rules - guilty of 114 of the 115 makes me believe not, so perhaps Abu Dhabi should be banned from owning Man City or any other club?

It is outrageous but we know football is horribly corrupt. If you want a fair competition the Premiership isn't the place to look.

My prediction is they will string out appeals for so long, at such a hugh cost that the other clubs and the Premier League will have to drop it.

If there is any penalty at all, it will be a fine that sounds big but is nothing to them or a small points deduction in a season where it makes no difference. I.e 4 points when they are ahead by 7.

Come on. One bad artist? Football is rotten to the core. Manchester United have massive debt that doesn't meet for play rules except for some magic involved.in the way it's structures.
