Very interesting result for Tudor-DS has a journo mate (I know but he does) 😂 and the word was that they were keeping Tudor to take the L at Liverpool and then sack him.
This may put the cat amongst the pigeons (or chickens 😉)

Well done El Pombo. Richarlason isn't our best player but he wears his heart on his sleeve and never stops trying. A bit more of fight all round today and a tiny glimmer of hope that we may stay up. Never thought a draw would feel like a Mother's Day gift, but I'll take it.

And well done Man U. Carrick is doing so well for them, I wonder if they'll give him the job 'proper, like'?

Belated happy birthday @MrsMitford3! I hope you had a lovely birthday - and glad to hear it was football-filled 😊

Hello to a fellow Spurs supporter! 👋 And I agree about Carrick!

Brefugee · 16/03/2026 12:17

so one of our goals on Friday came from a direct free kick. (it was a thing of beauty) and the club were immediately posting about how it is our first goal from a free kick since... 2020.

So yesterday on German Sky Gladbach got a mention as that Liverpool player scored his 5th goal from a free kick this season 😂(it was not as beautiful as ours by Kevin Stöger tho)

hope you can watch that outsidde Germany.

Interesting that the Premier League's Key Match Incidents Panel has found that in three matches so far this season, Arsenal have wrongly escaped a penalty being awarded against them by VAR in a game they have won by one goal (Brighton lost 1-0, Chelsea lost 2-1 and Everton lost 1-0). By contrast, it was found Arsenal have had no VAR errors made against them. BBC article here.

This supports what most fans (whoever they support) acknowledge: sometimes the decisions/luck go against you, sometimes they go for you, and there is no mass conspiracy for or against any given club.

Gabriel Martinelli of Arsenal runs ahead of Mats Wieffer of Brighton & Hove Albion

VAR error cost Brighton a penalty against Arsenal

Brighton should have been awarded a penalty in their 1-0 loss at home to Arsenal on 4 March, says the Premier League's KMI Panel.

Only in games that finish 1-0? I've seen blatant penalties not given for us - there was even one against Everton.

Give it a rest

It also cancelled out the one we didn't get in the home match against you.

Just pointing out that it's just someone's opinion. I'm not denying we've had some favourable decisions, but we've had some bad ones as well.

DuncinToffee · 17/03/2026 15:51

Like every team.

Anyway, good luck for tonight Smile

As I always say it is the issue with VAR we assume it should remove any errors but it can’t.
it isn’t fit for purpose let’s just have a time limit and make it clear what referee error means

because the Arsenal v Leverkusen penalty highlights exactly what should happen - it was for me one of those that could have gone either way but VAR were right in that there was nothing there to overturn as was no flat and obvious error but equally if it hadn’t been given it wouldn’t have been overturned

there is a huge difference between could have been a penalty and should and so many decisions are could that people argue over forgetting that it’s only for clear and obvious it is overruled

all law is open to interpretation (it is the basis for our entire common law legal system!)

TheNewGaard · 17/03/2026 19:19

And this is the problem - there is no consistency. Overruling a goal because someone's toenail was offside and taking 6 minutes over it, or barely taking 3 seconds and not looking at the contact for a penalty.

Kirbert2 · 17/03/2026 19:26

Don't you just love it when you are actually dreading a game?

Lincoln at home tonight, poor form and Lincoln are amazingly at 20 league games unbeaten. I'm expecting 3-0 at the very least to Lincoln, we are awful.

DuncinToffee · 17/03/2026 19:31

Today it's 4 years ago that the just stop oil guy tied himself to the goal post and we won in added time Grin

Maybe you need something like that Kirbert2

Fingers crossed. 😂

I can't even be mad at Lincoln, they've really impressed me.

burblish · 17/03/2026 19:57

I hope Sporting Lisbon tonight can be a good omen for all the English sides in the Champions League! (Feel sorry for Bodo Glimt though - 3-0 win at home in the first leg and now 4-0 down in extra time in the second leg 😲 - it's not quite over yet but what a recovery by Sporting.)

Comefromaway · 17/03/2026 20:03

We're somehow beating Lincoln 2-0. Tuesday miracles?

I still expect Lincoln to get back in it though.

ETA: There we go, we just gifted them an own goal. 🙄

The problem is though they are different things

offside is objective you either are or you aren’t (although personally the minute cm ones should be onside)

penalties are subjective for the most part - and VAR isn’t suppose to overrule it is looking for clear and obvious error - so there are rules which can be open to interpretation and if it is the case that the referee made an interpretation that fits the rules that cannot be overruled or overturned

you cannot get 100% consistency in a subjective decision because it is well subjective!

what is ruining the game is the drive for consistency and every decision being correct when you cannot achieve that with subjective rules.

a time limit is completely necessary and then trust (like we did for years) the onfield decision

goal line tech though is always required for the ball that is 100% accurate

and Bodo are out which is a shame still they can be v v v proud of whst they achieved

burblish · 17/03/2026 20:25

Sporting have won it 5-0. Chelsea are now 2-0 down and 7-2 on aggregate. Man City are 1-0 down (4-0 on aggregate), down to 10 men and with Courtois having one of those games where there is a forcefield round him and his goal. Not a good night for English teams after all, sadly.

I know, they did brilliantly in the first leg.

COYG, another goal would be nice to close it out!
