I’m amazed Wolves are winning against Liverpool! One lesson I keep on having to learn with football is to keep expecting the unexpected 🤣

DuncinToffee · 03/03/2026 22:12

I feel like singing the blues 🎶

But apparently Arsenal have been ruining it again...

In the Telegraph, they said that no player should be able to touch an opposition player at all.

I think that this is a good idea. I am fed up of players dangerously pushing each other just to wind each other up:

No hands
There is one very simple change to the laws of football that would make a world of difference: banning players from putting their hands on each other. They can no longer grab, hold or place their arm across an opponent. Inadvertent contact, when going for the ball, such as challenging for a header when needing to use an arm for leverage, would be allowed as long as it is brief and only lasts while the ball is there. Certainly not before. They would not be allowed to hold. Any prolonged contact would be an offence. Simple as that.

Brefugee · 04/03/2026 12:27

No. That would lead to more VAR and "but i was jumping for the ball, ref"

All the refs and assistant refs need to keep their eyes open and penalise properly.

DuncinToffee · 04/03/2026 12:29

Football is a contact sport

Don't you know it's the hope that kills you?!

But not pushing and shoving surely?

Pushing is getting out of hand, especially when players puts each other off the pitch into the hoardings.

And I can't think of any other way of stopping the pushing and shoving during corners.

There is a middle ground between the Telegraph 'no hands' proposal and the excessive pushing and grabbing.

Dewsbury Hall was being interviewed when you scored and the Everton players doing their warming down in the background were celebrating 😅

I'm sure there is, but the referees can't police it because both sides are doing it during corners. Who are they going to give the card to?

Me and DS have been waiting for you to go on an unbeaten run since your draw at our place :) We believe in you

BitOutOfPractice · 04/03/2026 17:12

I don’t want to start hoping because it’s the hope that kills you isn’t it?

MrsMitford3 · 04/03/2026 17:16

Based on current form it is such a shame about the beginning of the season- you are def not looking like you deserve the drop!

TheNewGaard · 04/03/2026 21:40

Phew! And a big thank you to Forest!

Funny thought, how we're apparently not restarting the game quickly enough for Brighton and yet they think nothing of stopping us from restarting quickly when it suits them. ..

Good result for us and as you say, thank you Forest.

I’m sure their manager will moan about the time we were taking, as will some of the press.

DuncinToffee · 04/03/2026 22:27

Well done Arsenal and also Newcastle.

Hats off to Newcastle - I don't think there is another Prem side that manages to play even better with 10 men than with 11! 😄

Brightbluesomething · 04/03/2026 22:33

That was far too much excitement for this time of night on a Wednesday! Appalling refereeing continues but pleased we battled through to a win with 10 men.

Hellohah · 05/03/2026 06:48

Congrats to the Magpies.
Reality check for us and I don't think that will do us any harm.
Felt sorry for Ramsey with the red card. I actually think Joelinton and Luke Shaw should have been off earlier.

LlynTegid · 05/03/2026 07:01

Arsenal v Man City looking increasingly like it will be the title decider.

Itstheyearitstarts · 05/03/2026 09:02

The Brighton manager took the defeat well I thought he was very ungracious with his comments.
It might not be pretty but you can guarantee that if we lost the game the press would be saying we’d bottled it. If we win ugly we get criticised, whether it’s set pieces only, getting away with stuff or time wasting.

Edited

He said that we weren't playing football or something. If so, how come they got so many yellow cards trying to stop us attacking?
