It's good to see Newcastle fans are warming to Pickford Wink

I didn't think there was much in the Burn/KDH incident, one was delaying play, the other was trying to get on with it.

I was more disappointed they didn't show Ndiaye's dancing with the ball.

There is inconsistency and bias across the board though, and yes those at the top are often wanting to be knocked off so yes but all teams have it - LiVARpool is often seen on social media because it well looks good - but funnily enough only comes out when the decision is in their favour (see Notts Forest) and not against

But Arsenal Liverpool was live on Sky so it happened and was seen in real time. A 3pm kick off isn’t so that is going to make a difference as well

and I standby the fact you cannot complain if someone else is treated differently if you did the crime yourself

Plus Conor Bradley was so injured that he was out for the season which I don’t think helped - the seriousness was pretty much seen straight away. Not seen the incident all I have seen is a Dan Burn yellow and FotMob doesn’t have a Red Cross against Dewsbiry Hall

so did he push a player out or did he push a player with a season ending injury out?

DuncinToffee · 01/03/2026 09:30

KDH was fouled, Burn thought he was play acting and pulled him up. Nothing more, just an incident you see every match.

Away games should be banned. 😉

Nah not when the away side slots in the winner in the 90+13 minute they shouldn't Grin

Where did those 13 minutes come from? Injury?

I like away games too

See that's the problem! We were winning on 89 minutes. 🤬

Where did you see the Dan Burn incident? As you say, MoTD didn't show it and I had a quick look on YouTube but couldn't find anything. From what I've read (inc on Everton fan sites), Burn was rightly booked for being a dick.

The difference between the Burn and Martinelli incidents based on what I've read (with the caveat that I haven't seen it myself) is that Dewsbury Hall went down on the pitch after a foul in just a typical way, whereas Conor Bradley's injury wasn't because of a foul and he was clearly in a bad way (i.e. this was clearly a real injury and not just a tactical going to ground), and Martinelli (a) threw the ball at him, (b) tried to shove him with his knee, and (c) then tried to push him off the pitch while Bradley was CLEARLY in real pain. It sounds as though Burn tried to pull Dewsbury Hall to his feet, which is definitely out of order. But, if what I've read is correct, Martinelli's behaviour was much worse and the scale and circumstances were much more unusual than the Burn incident. The latter was a more common occurrence. Both players were absolutely in the wrong, though.

I don't think the MoTD decision not to show the Burn incident was some sort of anti-Arsenal thing. The greater focus on the Martinelli action was because (a) from the sounds of it, it was much worse (not least because Bradley had suffered a season-ending injury), and (b) that match ended 0-0 so there was far less other action for reports to focus on, compared to the action-packed Newcastle-Everton match with 5 goals. Even Evertonians don't seem to be overly bothered about it, which is quite telling.

So, ultimately: from what I have read (but not seen) both players were out of order, but one even more so than the other.

This is why I ought to have refreshed the page before I posted my usual long-winded musing about the incident! Our Evertonian @DuncinToffee seems to have summed it up beautifully! 😄

DuncinToffee · 01/03/2026 11:01

When I looked for the clip, it led to an Arsenal Reddit page where it was deleted by the moderator.

I think NewGaard just got the wrong end of the stick.

I don't think either player would have any idea re the injury to the player who is down.

Too much time wasting and play acting in the game-which does not at all condone this behaviour but if more was done to stamp it out then players would not take matters into their own hands

burblish · 01/03/2026 11:13

@MrsMitford3 Thanks for posting that. Yep, Burn was bang out of order and totally deserved the booking. Martinelli's behaviour was way worse, though, not least because he had three separate goes at a clearly seriously injured player.

DuncinToffee · 01/03/2026 11:13

That looks like a wind up post, especially as he has 'laugh at Arsenal' on his to do list.

If we ignored everyone who wants to laugh at Arsenal we'd have nothing left to talk about 😂

back to the question about stress free footy - i agree that i have a hierarchy of teams that I'll support and that since neither of my teams is in the PL i don't have any dog in that race.

I do have a massive soft spot for Xhaka though. and i will usually support a Yorkshire club.

We were at the Glabach match yesterday, we had planned to leave at 80 minutes anyway because we had tickets to a gig after the match. And of course they scored the winner (penalty) while we were in the car.

DuncinToffee · 01/03/2026 11:21

When we were in the relegation battles,I found it stressful to watch games that could influence our position and stayed away from them.

Normally I can easily watch games as a neutral, I do like it when the so called bigger teams lose.

TheSleepingGiant · 01/03/2026 11:49

@DuncinToffee Yes 8 minutes of the added were due to a leg injury to Barrow's striker. Do feel for them a bit, as due to their league position they played for a draw and were seconds away from getting it.

@Scoobydoobydoo19 ouch I saw highlights of your game on the EFL show earlier this morning. Does Lapslie still get game time?

I’m starting to get very worried that Tottenham will get relegated, but I’m trying to stay calm and tell myself it’s not over till it’s over. COYS!!

Nottingham Forest and West Ham seem to be doing their best to ease your worries it seems.

Pleased with that win for Brighton. Looking much better.
