I think the draw (for both Arsenal and Barcelona) has it positives and negatives because it is often the unexpected matches (see Wolves Aston Villa) that are the banana skins
and I find fans (not on here) frustrating - saying it’s an easy route rather than easier puts pressure on them - and let’s face it the teams got there for a reason. Bodo in particular is a harsh place to visit

take Man Utd (sorry @Hellohah) I don’t think it is a coincidence that out of all Michael Carrickd matches it was West Ham that they failed to win. When he started he was very much the underdog the temp choice now he has a shot and it is the pressure that can take you down.

BitOutOfPractice · 28/02/2026 09:47

I am a wolves fan who is mightily pleased to have avoided the invidious record for lowest points tally. We have to take every bright spot that we can!

Villa really don’t like coming to the Mol.

only 6 points behind Burnley. Maybe we won’t even finish bottom? 😁

Fenerbahce as a club needs to have a big fat fine, and consequences for future European participation.

Not the first club from Turkey to treat opposition fans or grounds disgracefully.

Brightbluesomething · 28/02/2026 11:12

@Tiswa Im very open to Barcelona underestimating us! Look what happened when PSG did the same… Just pleased we can’t get City yet again!
We need to do the business this afternoon as our current prem form won’t get us into Europe next year but it’s not the worst having multiple players to spin.

Yep it is exactly why the Newcastle Barcelona match isn’t as clear cut as Barcelon either

personally I can see Newcastle getting something from the first leg and then who knows with the second. Barca form is not exactly great!

I am pleased for Wolves if they can end this season positively keep a lot of the players they can have a good season next year

MrsMitford3 · 28/02/2026 14:42

I find it very difficult to watch any match impartially-ever.
thinking about it as watching the end of Sunderland Bournemouth.
As a result I am always stress watching 😳

In neutral matches I first hope for the best outcome for Arsenal, barring that I have a very random assortment of clubs I willl always cheer for in neutral games.

Fulham because of ESR and Iwobi, Sunderland because of Xhaka (although will also cheer for Newcastle because DS/Dil are there which I appreciate is like cheering for arsenal and spurs) But newcastle so so much fun on game day and love a city who loves their team.
Title race aside I loathe Man City for the blatant cheating/disregard for the process/oil money officiating etc etc so any team they are playing...

I hope West Ham stay up.

I would never ever want Arsenal to lose just to spite another team or stop them from winning (you know who you are)

I didn't do a fantasy team this year (admittedly because I was away and missed the deadline) but that also adds to the stress-
Can any of you just watch a match and not care??

Edited

My team is far away from the prem so prem games are pretty meaningless to me except I always like it when Man City lose or have issues etc for similar reasons to you and the fact that it's boring when the same teams(s) win everything from a neutral perspective.

Soft spot for Leeds so would love for them to stay up but at the same time love our derby days which can't happen unless they get relegated and we get promoted.

I love ESR from his time on loan at Huddersfield.

Scoobydoobydoo19 · 28/02/2026 16:01

I'm reasonably neutral in the Premier League in that I'm not too fussed about the overall outcome but I always have a preferred winner in individual matches. It's partly why I do FPL so I can follow my players and have some skin in their games.

ivyleafgeranium · 28/02/2026 16:15

My team are getting further from the prem by the minute! Well done to Barnsley today but we are clueless at the back. Three players going for one ball. That sort of thing. I’ve also got two West Ham season ticket holders in the house so we are all bit glum at the moment. I quite like Arsenal in spite of Arteta’s “dark arts”. I hope they win the title and would like Spurs to go down to please the family..

You have always been my favourite 😚😉

burblish · 28/02/2026 16:59

How utterly bonkers have today's matches been - bloody entertaining stuff, though, especially if you're a neutral! I feel SO sorry for Burnley today. Holy cow, Burnley - what a match!!

As an aside: if you'd told me last season that Liverpool would score 5 goals in a Premier League match and Mo Salah would score/assist none of them despite playing every minute of the game, I'd never have believed you.

burblish · 28/02/2026 17:05

Ah, damn - I shouldn't have bothered editing my post as it's poor Burnley after all ☹️

Kirbert2 · 28/02/2026 17:10

and Huddersfield just can't win at all away from home. Ugh.

Good match, great result and Jordan Pickford is dynamite 🎶

Poor Burnley though wow Brentford what a season for them and Keith Andrews!

I am the same @MrsMitford3 hate watching anything when I am neutral like to pick a side!

Tiswa · 28/02/2026 18:00

And I agree with the Burnley part owner JJ watt if it takes that bloody long it isn’t clear and obvious so go with the onfield decision

a time limit is really needed max 2 minutes and if within that time a decision can’t be made go with the onfield one or for offside in favour of the attacker

Tarkan · 28/02/2026 18:07

Going to pretend I didn’t see the West Ham result. 🙈

Arbroath drew away at Partick Thistle today though. They’re the team directly above us in the league (8 points ahead of us) so while a win would have been nicer we’re happy to take a point there.

it was never meant to be measuring shoe laces and blades of grass-it is ridiculous

Scoobydoobydoo19 · 28/02/2026 18:19

Away games should be banned. 😉

DuncinToffee · 28/02/2026 22:52

Watching MotD, such a ridiculous decision to disallow Burnley's goal.

So when Dan Burn pushes Dewsbury Hall off the pitch they don't even bother to show it on MoTD, but when Martinelli does it they call for a public flogging...

Arsenal Liverpool was live on tv it was out there in real time

Plus does it matter? He got vilified for what he did whether someone else does is immaterial - DS comes more often than he should irritated that he got a 15 minute detention where some of his friends don’t. It is never not justified and whether someone else gets caught for the same behaviour is immaterial. Same is true here.

@DuncinToffee Everton I think are the most disadvantaged by it - Burnley are down anyway but the gap for what will I think be Europe (5 champions league 6 Europa Leagie and 7 the Cknference league space from the league cup) is 3 points rather than 1

Him and his stupid tiny t-rex arms pulling off save of the season from Sandro’s raker on the volley in the last minute. Mind. It was all our own fault. We were a load of shite today. Can’t believe they sent Jacob Ramsey out spewing on the pitch. Surely he felt unwell in the changer?!

Yes, it matters, because it shows the bias of the media. Funny how it always seems to happen to one specific team. But you wouldn't notice because it's not your team...

MrsMitford3 · 01/03/2026 08:18

Of course it matters-there was an absolute pile on even on here-
really full on.

It is the inconsistency that is difficult to reconcile.
It doesn't matter if it was on in real time or not-
the commentators see it and choose to ignore it.
Instead of it being the feature of MOTD it wasn't discussed.

I would think we would all want a level playing field-
It shouldn't only matter if it is your player-we should really all want the same
standard to be applied across the game-not some players highlighted and vilified whilst others ignored for the same thing.
