Oh so sad and frustrating for the fans!!!

Hopefully a resolution can be found-is he trying to sell the club or just milk it dry and discard it?

LlynTegid · 23/10/2025 18:47

Brefugee · 23/10/2025 17:55

the owner (Depjohn Chansiri) is running the club into the ground, he bought it with the hope of getting into the PL but mismanagement and so on and so on has led to non-payment of wages (players and all other staff) and there are also overdue taxes. Word is that HMRC are about to issue a winding up order.

The Supporters Trust asked everyone to boycott the match last night which was fairly successful, they have asked that if people do go to the matches they don't buy anything from the concessions (last i heard most of them don't open now anyway) but to gather in the pubs around the ground to watch the match and support those places. The supporters trust are also selling black and gold scarves and merch to raise funds for the non-playing staff who are suffering.

In short it is a massive shit-show.

Whilst I don't want to see the club go under, I hope HMRC pull their finger out and issue the winding up order, as this will force a sale most likely.

Players may be on money such that they can manage with late wages, staff may not be, and then there may be other people such as the caterers who if not paid could go under.

Brefugee · 24/10/2025 08:46

@MrsMitford3 he says he's trying to sell it but he has put a very high price on it so... so fr no takers

@LlynTegid yes, i hope they get no leeway because there needs to be movement. The non-payment is an issue for people, but a lot of the staff are apparently volunteers. AFAIK that has always been the way, i used to go with my grandad when i was small, he worked on the turnstiles and they used to turn a blind eye to the guys bringing their grandkids with them.

DuncinToffee · 24/10/2025 11:24

This is not good, disgraceful from Chansiri

@DuncinToffee was just coming on to post this.

Absolutely terrible times for the owls :(

Brefugee · 24/10/2025 11:57

yeah. But to be honest right now it's the only way we're going to be rid of him. Just waiting for confirmation and the signal that we are all going to go back to matches (my next home visit will coincide with a home fixture, so i hope i'll get to see them one more time this year)

have seen batshit talk online about it being a good time to combine the Owls and the Blades...

surreygirly · 24/10/2025 12:01

Boring game played by so called men who fall over when they are touched on a lock of hair LOL

you can run, but you can't hide!!

@surreygirly - politely: go away. We are here to talk about our love for football. We don't need people trying to sneer at us but only making themselves look silly.

Here's hoping for a result against Hibs on Sunday after last night's disaster.

Oh dear, what a shame you have nothing better to do with your life than trawling random threads that are of no interest to you and posting odd things like this. You poor creature - I do feel for you. Ever thought about taking up a hobby? I hear football is fun! Btw, sit down because I'm about to tell you something that could really shock you: women play football too! I know, right?!

What a sad little person...

Hellohah · 24/10/2025 12:42

@Brefugee Sheffield was my University city. I was there for 5 years.
I worked with a load of college students (half red, half blue) and by heck they used to wind each other up something rotten 😝
I could not imagine one Sheffield team.
I have fond memories of Hillsborough (I don't have any from BL - although I did go to some games when there and thought they weren't for me. I recall big WWE style foam hands).
Many years ago we had a 3-3 draw over Christmas period in the season we first won the league if I remember. It was a belting game. Remains one of my favourites more than 30 years later. I really hope this is sorted soon.

So much more should be in the game to avoid financial mis-management.

I'm a member of that club

DuncinToffee · 24/10/2025 14:59

I had forgotten there is already a Sheffield FC, 'the oldest club in the country', so team Sheffield it is.

Brefugee · 24/10/2025 18:14

they are, in fact, (as acknowledged by FIFA) the oldest football club in the world.

The players have asked the fans to come back, so i guess the next match will be nice and full.

Tarkan · 24/10/2025 19:46

Leeds v West Ham tonight. Let’s hope this goes a bit better than the Brentford match for us.

The Sheffield Wednesday supporters group have ended any boycott, which seemed to have been widely supported.

Administration is not nice, but may end up being the least worst option.

Brefugee · 25/10/2025 08:24

i will be in UK at Christmas for the first time in absolute yonks. Patiently waiting for the Boxing day tickets to go on sale.

Today: We will be mostly watching Bayern wipe the floor with Gladbach while refreshing our phones to see how Wednesday get on against Oxford and wondering about Boro vs Wreham.

Tarkan · 25/10/2025 11:40

Arbroath are away today so a day in the house for me. It’s so bloody windy here it’s probably a good thing as Gayfield would be freezing and we would probably run out of balls from them blowing over the stand roof. We lose a few every match anyway but I’d be worried they would hit the main road it’s that breezy today. 🤣

I’ll just sit watching all the scores come in on Sky Sports instead and enjoy being in a nice cosy room this week LOL.
