He is only 36 - CR is 40 - surprised he is still st Inter reckon the summer might move him back - though the Bundesliga would make sense I guess

i don't think Sommer will come back to the Bundesliga - although his wife is from Cologne, i think. Broke a lot of hearts here when he got married.
I suspect he will go back to Switzerland, have one or two last seasons at Basel and then go on to a media career.
Xhaka is quite good looking, not really my cup of tea though.

Sorry for the derail.
Anyone got any thoughts about the Middlesbrough trainer thing?

Cuwins · 07/11/2025 21:52

Surprised Welbeck missed out on the England squad although also quite pleased as he could probably do with a rest and the last thing we need is him injured!

I have always had a soft spot for Federer as well so not sure the football part is needed!

Funnily enough, I thought exactly the same thing after I posted.

Yes, I thought the same about MLS. We have enough players on international duty.

Do you mean Rob Edwards?

Yeah, I'd rather MLS went and Saka and Rice got a break!

Yes but that's not going to happen!

He is not managing Boro today

My DH is spitting feathers about him (yes, Rob Edwards). The word "snake" ia being deployed. A lot.

DuncinToffee · 08/11/2025 12:47

I am not surprised Brefugee

Rob Edwards has form - he will be hoping leaving Boro for Wolves will work out better for him than leaving Forest Green Rovers for Watford did! You can see the attraction for him as a former Wolves player, but he could come to regret the timing. Imagine if Wolves go down and Boro get promoted the other way!

Hellohah · 08/11/2025 16:08

@TheNewGaard and yet if the season was based solely on the 3 games of October, United would have come out on top due to GS and GD despite Arsenal's perfect month so ... 🤷🏻‍♀️

Tiswa · 08/11/2025 17:04

He could face something similar this month again even if Arsenal win all matches if West Ham get more points from Bournemouth/Liverpool even 8-10 points could do it

DuncinToffee · 08/11/2025 17:17

Scored 5 goals but only 2 counted and a clean sheet, happy days 💙

After only managing 1 point for the whole of last month Gillingham beat Bristol Rovers away 1-0. Welcome back Gareth (sat in the stands but was in attendance and has been taking charge of training again)💙

Thought Man Utd were the better team today against Spurs so not overly displeased with a point.

Barton also found guilty of the Ward/Aluko/Vine tweets so hoping the book is thrown at him come December 8th.

I agree with your point about Spurs! I’m still trying to work out why they seem to be playing so much worse at home than away.

Tiswa · 08/11/2025 17:37

I think a point apiece was the fairest result - if only the Man Utd fan had gone for 5 unbeaten rather than 5 wins (which is actually much harder to achieve)

Yes I'm wondering if he's ever going to get that hair cut 😂

TheNewGaard · 08/11/2025 17:43

So Merino gets a blatant elbow to the face, but because it's "accidental" even though he was clearly leading with his elbow it's fine and not a penalty...

Tarkan · 08/11/2025 17:54

A loss away for Arbroath. I wasn’t there but was following their updates. One interesting one said we had a player kicked in the head but we were denied a penalty from it and then the other team scored but had it ruled out all within a minute apparently. The highlights will be interesting later.

Happy with the West Ham result at least.

But it has made him famous so I guess there is that! But there is no set I can see where 5 games winning could be done!

yep that wasn’t a penalty at all and no one has said it should be surely?

TheNewGaard · 08/11/2025 19:37

That's a bummer. Sunderland gave us a really hard game though.

Tiswa · 08/11/2025 19:59

Wouldn’t worry it’s the North London Derby next!

TheNewGaard · 08/11/2025 20:02

What's to worry about? After all, Saka, Rice, Merino, Gabriel, Trossard, Eze, and Calafiori won't get injured during the interlull...

DuncinToffee · 08/11/2025 20:13

Stop looking for excuses for bottling it 😂
