And weirdly Mark Goldbridge as well has rights to Bundesliga

@TheNewGaard Alvarez is apparently not happy at Madrid that would be a good call.

Joking aside the last thing Arsenal need is replacing one injury prone striker with another!

derxa · 20/08/2025 22:00

nil nil at Celtic Park. DH incandescent with rage 🤣

‪Daily Cannon‬ ‪@dailycannon.com‬

Eze being the first ever player punished under a rule nobody knew existed makes more sense now 😉

What do you mean?

Tiswa · 20/08/2025 22:10

MustTryHarderAndHarder · 20/08/2025 22:07

What do you mean?

Given at that point he both played for a different side and was moving to a different side it is a bit of a stretch!

TheNewGaard · 20/08/2025 22:16

It's always Arsenal players who get done by new rules that nobody has ever used before. Obviously PGMOL knew this was going to happen! 😉

Oblomov25 · 20/08/2025 22:17

Eze to Arsenal not Spurs, Quelle surprise!

I'm being thick. How has Eze been punished?

TheNewGaard · 20/08/2025 22:47

He had a free kick disallowed because a team mate was within a metre of the wall. Apparently that's a rule now.

And I admit that I saw the ref put down a white line for Arsenal when we had a free kick, to keep them away from the wall.

Seems a stupid rule to me, as we've had some great free kicks over the years where someone has stood in or by the wall and dived out of the way. I guess it's to stop any suggestion that the wall was barged or something.

Are the Bundesliga matches that are being shown going to be the Friday matches?

If so, you will notice when you see the schedules that the Bundesliga only finalises the actual fixture list some weeks in advance. So we know who will play who on which weekend (or "spieltag" - we have the occasional midweek matches) but the actual day/time is fixed after other things like cup matches or champions league matches are fixed. (so if they play on a thursday, the Bundesliga will schedule them for a Sunday, if they play on Wednesday they won't play the following Friday)

Tiswa · 21/08/2025 10:47

Looking at FotMob we can watch the Friday and Saturday 17:30 on sky and the Sunday matches on Amazon

not sure yet what will be streamed on you tube

if (like we do) you have Prime, Sky, TNT and Premier (was via play) you can watch and awful lot!

Brefugee · 21/08/2025 10:51

blimey, we don't even get the Sunday matches, although Sky have now regained the Friday match.

I saw also that (the BBC I think) all 2nd bundesliga matches will be shown?

Anyway, if anyone is watching on Sunday, you might just see me in the Nordkurve at Gladbach. Should be a bit of a celebration, it is the first time Hamburg have played in the Bundesliga for a few seasons (until they were relegated, they were the only club in German never to have been relegated from the top division. They had this flipping clock in the stadium showing how many years, months, days, hours and minutes they had been in. I wonder if they will resurrect it.)

Am expecting gladbach to lose, btw. All our best players have either left or are injured.

ETA: that Man United YouTuber has done a deal for Friday matches, with his commentary etc, for the next 2 years. 20 matches in all)

Tiswa · 21/08/2025 12:15

Brefugee it is Amazon that are doing the Sunday ones - it’s PPV though looking at it

Friday is what the BBC and The Oberlap and That’s football have so imagine there might be some big Friday night matches

though how that is impacted by Champions League I don’t know

Sometimes I do kind of miss when it was Saturday and followed either on Radio 5 live or teletext

Brefugee · 21/08/2025 12:26

the schedules are impacted by Champions league fixtures, because the Bundesliga is only 20 games so they can have a winter break, and take account of, say, Bayern playing on Wednesday. Then they won't play again on friday, and if possible Sunday. If they are playing on a tuesday, then they definitely won't be playing the previous Sunday. Things like that.

And then our cup matches are all played on Tuesday/Wednesday, so again, if you have a tuesday fixture, you won't play the previous Sunday. So, because of this the actual fixtures are released by the league in batches, once all the Cup rounds are done, they can release the next lot. Then the European competitions get accounted for etc etc.

TV is not allowed to dictate when the matches are played.

Looks like Eze is off to Arsenal, that's my FPL team messed up for the weekend.

Tiswa · 22/08/2025 08:56

@Brefugee totally different to over here. It is such a balance isn’t it between wanting to see your team play and keeping some traditions in place and Germany always place a lot on tradition I think

I did not care for the half time interview either on Sunday

TheNewGaard · 22/08/2025 10:53

I'd forgotten about that! I thought that was really bad form. I hope it's not going to become a "thing".

Brefugee · 22/08/2025 11:20

The fans here have a lot of influence. We stopped the Monday games and something else recently (forget what it was) with rolling protests.

Sorry about your FPL team :( I’m also gutted that Spurs missed out on him!!

Tiswa · 22/08/2025 17:44

@TheNewGaard sadly yes not sure why as the US have their own coverage from the last time we went!

just watching the premier league review and Roman Kemp doesn’t look like. I think he should!

also what on earth is happening at Forest! Nuno Santos has been a revelation for them!

Nottingham Forest have a owner problem

Nottingham Forest has a HUGE owner problem he is far to involved and very narcissistic

but surely this should be a wake up call to fans about how much he is

TheNewGaard · 22/08/2025 18:26

The thing is, he doesn't care about the fans. And that is half the problem.

This match is going really well for FPL (Neto and Pedro as captain) but Poor West Ham feel my prediction for Graham Potter leaving first might be right

Maybe they could convince Santos from Forest
