Thread two

We are over halfway through the season. It looks like the WDC will either be Lando or Oscar. Hoping for a grandstand finish in Abu Dhabi.

Kimi’s drive was amazing. I called him going to the end on the hards after he pitted early.

Lando’s car is apparently under investigation.

Lando’s car is apparently under investigation.

What could result from that?
There was barely any footage of Lando - or Max - during the race, but then said there was a problem with it in last few laps

Edited

He could be disqualified. That would open up the championship so it goes to AD.

The commentary was he dropped back for fuel saving. Ted said it could be plank wear.

bluetongue · 23/11/2025 07:53

Both cars reported to the stewards for plank wear. 😮

Fizbosshoes · 23/11/2025 07:56

Yeah I just saw now both Mcclarens are being investigated!! That might make things easier for MV! But cant believe i got up at 4am for potentially a race that won't count for 2 of the 3 contenders! 🤣

gingercat02 · 23/11/2025 08:52

Just watched now. If both McLarens get disqualified that will shake things up a bit!
Great race from Kimi apart from the jump start.

Brazilianadventure · 23/11/2025 09:05

@Fizbosshoes 😂

If both McLarens are disqualified then Max is only 24 points behind Lando.

Wow! Max needed this to have any hope. Lando drove brilliantly this weekend apart from his admitted fucked up start (fine coming his way for that interview).

gingercat02 · 23/11/2025 09:48

F1 reporting DSQ for both McLarens, confirmation from Zac but not officially from FIA

Brazilianadventure · 23/11/2025 09:48

Matt and Tommy have confirmed FIA announcement both DSQ.

Sob. Get up early to watch the race. Go back to bed afterwards with a smile on my face that it’s looking great for Lando. Wake up to the news he’s likely disqualified! Pfffffffffft. The emotions today have been extreme and it’s not even 10am.

Brazilianadventure · 23/11/2025 10:06

So Max and Oscar are both on 366 points with a maximum of 58 points available.

Lando is on 390 so needs 35 points to be champion. 5 points (4th) from the Sprint and 15 points (3rd) from the two races would do it.

As a massive Lando fan who is going to Abu Dhabi I’m so pleased!! I really wanted a 3 way fight!!

Incredibly selfish of me! 😁😁

It's the first time ‐-and possibly the last-- I've got up at stupid o clock for F1 ....and that happened 🙄😫
But it spices up the last few races which are on at a civilised hour.
A huge gift for Max and a maybe a tiny one for OP as the gap ahead hasn't got any bigger.

My daughter says she’s messed up her sleep schedule for nothing!

HundredMilesAnHour · 24/11/2025 09:50

Honestly after yesterday’s shenanigans, I’m so weary of the FIA. Lando and Oscar were disqualified over the width of one human hair and it was out of their (and the team’s) control. Such bs. I mean seriously what is the fucking point?! I know some people will say rules are rules but strange how these decisions always seem to favour Verstappen. Call me a cynic but….

HundredMilesAnHour · 24/11/2025 09:58

Just to add, and trying to be slightly less grumpy, I was actually super lazy yesterday and didn’t get dressed until lunchtime. I watched the GP late morning still in my dressing gown under my heated throw on the sofa. I was having a lovely time until my Dad messaged me asking if I’d seen the race and “the news”. At this stage I hadn’t seen “the news” so was told to Google and that took the shine right off my day.😡 The shitshow that is Ferrari (poor Lewis!!) was bad enough but obviously that was just the tip of the iceberg. Shame as I actually enjoyed the first half of the race.

Gratuitous photo attached of my race watching companion (plus dressing gown heated throw) who was asleep by lap 18. She’s not a fan of F1.

@HundredMilesAnHour love your F1 watchalong companion. Very cute.

As you know F1 is a very technical sport and it’s black and white about a lot of things. Mercedes, Ferrari and Alpine (I think) have all been disqualified for plank wear. This does seem consistent.

I must admit watching Oscar doing an overtake the car really was sparking far more than you would expect and I did wonder if that was going to be an issue.

I just hope we have no technical issues in the last 2 races. The sprint worries me if Lando gets damage am it impacts his race.

@Brazilianadventure yes I know I’m not being entirely rational. It’s surprised me that this has triggered quite an emotional response in me and made me realise that I’m still not really over AD2021. Seeing another British driver who’s on the verge of winning the WC being screwed over by the FIA and it benefitting Verstappen has really triggered me. Note that I’m not blaming Max, he’s just making the most of whatever advantage comes his way. I am very weary of all the FIA bs though and very much at the point where I wish we could go back to the (admittedly bonkers) days of 70-80s racing when it was all about how good the drivers and the cars were and less about the rule book. Of course back then it was a different kind of madness. And a lot less lucrative for everyone involved.

I’ll get over it. I’m just having a grumpy little foot stamping tantrum.😂 Not helped by my father being exactly the same. He was seething yesterday.

Brazilianadventure · 24/11/2025 13:05

@HundredMilesAnHour I absolutely agree with you. AD2021 and other races that year e.g. Brazil, still trigger me.

Like you I am a long standing fan, I have to believe the FIA are not as biased as I think they are. MBS has been awful for the sport.

Amended to add, I have done some foot stamping myself.

Was the "management" that Lando did for the last few laps , coasting to the end, related to the same DQ incident or was that about fuel?

As a newbie follower im sonetimes intrigued at the differences in racing incidences that are "noted" and ones that are given a penalty. I am not knowledgeable enough to see how they are different.
