True same reason Cunha is leaving Wolves for Manchester United

Allegedly. In fairness to him, he signed a new contract in January so we will get decent money for him. He’s a great player and I love him (his celebrations after scoring at West Brom in the FA Cup last year made him a legend!) but he has a discipline problem. And we won 4 and drew 1 while he was suspended last time so it could be worse.

Congrats on securing Championship survival!

Thank you! Thank god we’re not involved in the last day carnage!

It'll be an important transfer window for us this one. Don't doubt next season will be only slightly less shit than the current one, but the summer I think will be Ruben starting to build (she says, crossing all her body parts) 😂

I've avoided SM, expecting it to be full of number 20. But pleasantly surprised it's mostly everyone taking the mick out of City for not selling all their allocation. Although I'm kind of with them on the point of SFs not being at Wembley. We've been 6 times in 3 seasons ourselves and it's bloody expensive. I know Wembley need the revenue, but I do think the SFs should be played more locally for us Northern teams.

Still laughing at them though 🤦🏻‍♀️

All Brightons players get sold to Chelsea on there: However mostly that seems to end up being true! 😂

I thought anyone decent was always linked to Arsenal!

The Arseblogger used to do a silly season list of every player that we were linked with in the media - one summer it was nearly 200 players long!

Tiswa · 28/04/2025 21:23

I think transfer rumours are getting worse with the sheer amount of spam rumours that appear on social media half of which claim something has actually happened when it hasn’t at all!
Fabrizio Romano and David Orstein tend to be pretty good.

but quite a lot just want the traffic to there page. I wonder how much you can make by just randomly making transfer suggestions

MaybeNotBob · 28/04/2025 21:51

This was several years ago. They only listed ones that they could link to a "reputable" news source (and the Daily Express), and it still ran into the hundreds!

MaybeNotBob · 28/04/2025 21:53

The other problem with Arsenal is that they never comment on any transfer business, so agents go to the press to link their player to Arsenal in the hope of raising their value.

JasonTindallsTan · 28/04/2025 21:56

I laughed this morning at Didi Hamman talking to Ali McCoist this morning on talksport saying that Isak should go to Liverpool but it depends if they’re willing to pay the 80 or so million it would take to buy him.

We paid over 60 million for him, he has 3 years left on his contract and he is one of if not the best striker currently certainly in the league if not in Europe right now. I think IF we were willing to sell him, which I’m almost certain we are not, we’d be wanting a lot more than a 15-20 million return pal 😂

MaybeNotBob · 28/04/2025 22:13

I'd love us to buy Isak, but I wouldn't expect it to cost less than 150 million!

MaybeNotBob · 28/04/2025 22:14

By "it" I mean "it to cost us", for "him"...

This is where Todd Boehly and others have a lot to answer for paying inflated prices for players not worth it. Izak is 100-120 million max not 150 million. No release clause either which should be there. Should Arsenal go all out? Certainly it is a lack of a striker in either transfer window that cost them at least making the title race close.

But it is tricky though isn’t it - each year closer to the end of the contract the value goes down. And with spending rules in place?

Caicedo for example isn’t a 100 million player - not when MacAllister had a £35million release clause.

another one look at Scott McTominay £25.7million seems a bargain for the season he has had.

JasonTindallsTan · 28/04/2025 22:58

If we finish top 5 this season I fully expect Isak to sign a new contract this summer. TBH even if we just miss out on champions league I think we’ll still keep him this summer at least. We should have some decent headroom in relation to PSR as we haven’t spent over the last 3 transfer windows and we have some big earners (Wilson) out of contract at the end of the season which will save us on wages. Newcastle have no need to sell and I’m not sure any amount could persuade us to do so at least not just yet.

How would that affect wage structure?

it will be interesting to see how the new rules apply and what decisions are made (McTominay and Gallagher last season were sold for pure profit).

and how if Manchester United don’t get into Europe how that effects spending with a huge revenue stream down.

it will be an exciting window I think and hopefully Leeds and Burnley can have a go at staying up and breaking the status quo

JasonTindallsTan · 29/04/2025 10:15

No idea, pretty sure Isak isn’t top earner currently so there is already headroom there for him to go up. I think we might lose Sean Longstaff this summer and he will be pure profit having come up through the ranks.

Tiswa · 29/04/2025 10:26

Yeah a move to Leeds there makes sense. Get the profit in and on the books to free up room for others

also enables the players to earn more academy through the ranks loyal players tend to earn less than big money signings

To be fair, Hamann spouts bollocks constantly (how's his English)

Tiswa · 29/04/2025 15:03

I think sometimes they do so just to get views the worst (sorry Arsenal fans) is Ty who is just click bait as is 90% of talksport tv

MaybeNotBob · 29/04/2025 18:28

I can't argue that we've got some dreadful "fans" doing social media.

I just ignore those, as there are plenty more who are intelligent, balanced (as far as you can be), and very funny!

Lucky with the PSG miss and hitting the bar there

Yeah there some really good ones - no one on talk sport though really (although I do like Ally McCoist)

Ian wright is excellent though as is Thierry Henry (who my Dad once met along with the Prmier League trophy)

@DuncinToffee OMG, that video was brilliant - Peter Reid just playing himself! 🤣
