Football fans join in to share the joy, the heartache and VAR frustration ⚽

“Some people think football is a matter of life and death. I don't like that attitude. I can assure them it is much more serious than that.”

Notts Forest? On Talk Shite this morning they were suggesting he's going to Brazil.

I think that both are on the cards, but NF want him.

MrsMitford3 · 04/11/2024 13:08

Much more devastating to lose him to NF.

It all seemed so harmonious-what a kick in the teeth

Yep.

The rumour is that he had a different vision for the club from the other directors.

But who knows.

EboueEboue · 04/11/2024 15:39

I see, it's a consortium of clubs that includes Nottingham Forest.

It looks like they've already got people lined up to replace him.

Yes, but the owner sounds unhinged. He's just received a 5 match stadium ban for improper conduct.

He also owns Olympiacos.

And I seem to remember that he was charged with match fixing in Greece. I don't know what happened about that.

EboueEboue · 04/11/2024 18:50

Sounds like they're tripling his salary, and, obviously, it's going to be quite a challenge. But I suspect the first part is playing a big part...

MrsMitford3 · 04/11/2024 18:57

So treble the salary and he will be CEO-which he wanted at Arsenal but did not get...

Not great timing but I can see the appeal 😂

Oblomov24 · 04/11/2024 19:21

Ds2 went to MK to see Wimbledon away. I'm glad he's out and about.

MustTryHarderAndHarder · 04/11/2024 20:31

Well I assume that they are having to triple his salary as it must have been difficult finding someone who was prepared to work with the owner.

I wonder if Edu had already agreed to take the job before the owner's spitting incident.

MustTryHarderAndHarder · 05/11/2024 09:19

So pleased Fulham won last night. Serves Brentford right for parking the bus.

What an amazing goal from Harry Wilson.

Cuwins · 05/11/2024 10:06

So 10 games in- are you happy with where your team are?
I will start with Brighton- yes I think so- couple of missed opportunities but over all I wasn't sure how this season was going to go with Hurzeler so happy with his start. If we could get some players back from injury- Pedro and O'Rielly particularly we could definitely improve.

Sorry that's for those of us with teams in the premier league. Those in other leagues- are you happy however many games it is?

Arsenal - it could be worse and I think about how well we did in the last two seasons which makes me feel better.

Hopefully, things will improve. It would be great if we could finish second again, but realistically, I think we need to aim for top 4 and hope we manage it.

Brefugee · 05/11/2024 12:05

Gladbach - feels like an awful season but 9th in the table feels much better than we should be. So all in all feel OK.

Sheffield bloody Wednesday are awful. Making a dive for league 1.

RavenT · 05/11/2024 12:19

Hi I follow this thread and post very very occasionally, but just wanted to politely say it's not Notts Forest, it's Nottingham Forest or just Forest will do. The other team in Nottingham are called Notts County. 🙂

Or may be you're trolling us, which if you are, fair play I guess lol,.......!

Up Nuno's Tricky Trees!

DuncinToffee · 05/11/2024 13:19

Sorry RavenT

I have seen a few funny twitter threads on the whole 'Notts' debate Grin

Oh yes lots of twitter trolling and it's usually Derby fans lol as they know it winds us up! 😁

RavenT · 05/11/2024 14:43

I'm late 40s and remember the Forest days of Stuart Pearce, Nigel Clough, Stan Collymore etc - Wembley trips and winning things was the norm for us in those days. Nice to see us doing well again, though overall if we finish top 10 I'd be chuffed to bits.

West Ham - not really. It's very up and down and the ups seem to be more by luck than skill right now. Pretty much the West Ham way it seems. 🤣

Rangers - could be worse but it's already looking like a two horse race and we're outside that.

For both of these teams I'll be surprised if we finish the season with the same managers in place at the moment.

Arbroath - finally I can say yes although 12 games in now rather than 10. After languishing at the bottom of the table for so much of the start of the season we had a 1-0 win on Saturday which put us up to third in the table. Four wins from the last five matches so things are definitely looking up again. Only 3 points cover the top half of the table, and tbh there's only 8 points between 1st and 9th so it's still almost anybody's really. It's just poor Caley Thistle at the bottom on -2 after their 15 point deduction who don't seem to have much of a chance at this stage. Anything can happen though, we've all seen how things can change.

No, although I feel marginally better than Dunc only because we managed to win that one.

Erm, 13th is a wonderful position in the league. Surely we can only go one way now 😂

TheSleepingGiant · 05/11/2024 19:33

Spurs - overall yes, league form could be better as suffered 4 losses already, however some entertaining wins in there too, namely West Ham and Villa. 9 points from 9 in Europe although 2 tough matches to come in Galatasary and Roma.

Gillingham - has to be a no, after a very promising start they are sliding down the table rapidly (currently sit in 11th), only got 1 point from last 6 games, goals are scarce, injuries racking up and we've suffered an early exit from the FA Cup (which could be a blessing tbf). It's a very tight league though and a after a couple of wins I could be feeling very different 🙏

EboueEboue · 05/11/2024 19:50

A bit disappointed, as we probably should be closer to the top, but given the appalling refereeing and injuries I'll take it for now. Hopefully, with Ødegaard back fit, we can stop dropping so many points and make a better challenge.

Brefugee · 05/11/2024 21:50

That'll do Owls! I can't believe my boys won, especially after me slagging them off here earlier on.
(i don't take it all back completely, Sheffield Wednesday are useless idiots, but they're my useless idiots)⚽
