Is anyone enjoying the start of the new season?

As a saints fan I’m happy with tonight’s half time scores, can’t see them staying the same though

Formby · 26/04/2024 21:42

I was expecting close games. What do I know!

nowtygaffer · 26/04/2024 22:01

Wow. Well done Hull KR and Leigh. Two unexpected winners!

duc748 · 26/04/2024 22:09

Leigh the bigger shock, I think. I listened to the online commentary on HKR/Wigan, and by all accounts we were woeful, and HKR very good. We lost badly there in the first game of the season last year with a similar indifferent display, and still won the league. So I'm not that despondent about the Cup tie against them next month. But Cats, our next home game, will surely be a wounded beast!

Great week for Saints!
Let's hope they can sort themselves out to keep it this way 🫣🫣

florenceandthemac · 27/04/2024 10:49

And yes, great win for Leigh!

Waiting for news on poor Leon Hayes, looked really horrific and such a young lad who’s been playing amazingly well.

Leon injury

He has been playing so well. I am always so fascinated though every time I see him play, of how small he is (height), and think it must be terrifying going in for a tackle against someone the size of Alex Walmsley, for example!

Warrington Wolves provide Leon Hayes injury update with half-back to undergo surgery

Warrington Wolves half-back Leon Hayes is likely to miss the rest of the season with an ankle injury, his club have confirmed.

I’d just like to say, I am so proud of our sport. Obviously, I didn’t join MN to chat about rugby league, but I am surprised and delighted that we have a thread. But, when I go to games, and also even watching on TV, it’s really noticeable the number of women and girls of all ages attending games. And now we are seeing greater participation by girls to play the sport. My FB feed is full of adverts from local amateur clubs wanting to set up girls’ teams. In contrast to the lunacy we are seeing in some sports, I don’t think there’s any doubt that rugby league people ‘know what a woman is’, and that that is buttressed by the sport’s community-based working-class roots. Inclusive, in the best sense of the world.

Great to see the sport expanding. Love watching the wheelchair rugby too.

nowtygaffer · 05/05/2024 15:47

Totally agree with you both!
I've missed this weekend's matches as I've been away. My husband told me about the Saints result!

Formby · 10/05/2024 18:46

Enjoyed our game v Hull KR last night. The good weather/good pitch conditions definitely make a difference to how the game can be played.
Watching a couple of the remaining games on tv, hopefully some close games to watch.

duc748 · 10/05/2024 19:52

Wire looking good this season. I was a bit surprised you turned them over relatively comfortably; they are a good side.

Still considering getting over to Hudds tomorrow on the bike. If it's like it's been today...

duc748 · 10/05/2024 21:31

Anyone watching Leigh/HKR on BBC3? I am totally in awe of Kelsey Gentles! Good contest, anyway.

Sweden99 · 10/05/2024 21:44

I am watching Cas fall to pieces!

I’m not convinced at all by Makinsons red card but will take this win happily!

looks like for now we will be back at the top of the table while in average at best form

nowtygaffer · 10/05/2024 21:58

Is that Makinson's 2nd red this season? Not like him really.

duc748 · 10/05/2024 22:45

Not like him really.

What, Tommy "squirrel grip" Makinson? 😄

florenceandthemac · 10/05/2024 22:48

What a game for Super Saints

Lassi · 10/05/2024 22:59

300th try for Josh Charnley.

duc748 · 10/05/2024 23:14

Great finishes from Josh.

Lassi · 16/05/2024 00:09

I saw something about this on twitter. Very positive.
