Is anyone enjoying the start of the new season?

What does the panel think about Catalans/Saints? I thought it was a pretty scrappy affair, determined defence from both sides, but both guilty of clunkiness in attack. Cats deserved the win, without pulling up any trees, for me.

Couldn’t decide until later in the game who would win that. Looks a great atmosphere at the Catalan home games, but unfortunately I’ve not been able to get there yet.

Formby · 13/04/2024 08:58

Ready for the Challenge Cup games this weekend? Unfortunately can’t see us progressing but always hopeful.

Sirzy · 13/04/2024 09:01

I’m going tomorrow and think it could go either way. My partner is a Warrington fan so at least one of us will be happy!

duc748 · 13/04/2024 12:03

Considering the trip to Cas tomorrow if the weather's good.

Well in the end I did indeed get the bike out and make the journey up the M62. And the light training session I watched was quite enjoyable, but it was nice to get home and watch the Saints/Wire game and see a proper rugby league match. Wire fans must be well pleased, and to do it without Vaughan and Currie as well. But really, I don't think it's just my cherry-and-white specs, weren't Saints quite poor? Out-enthused all over the park, discipline poor, and as for Williams v Lomax, it wasn't even a contest, was it?

As a Saints fan, I agree.
When Saints beat Wigan, I think I commented on here that Wigan looked the better team to win Super League.
Warrington have a very decent defence whereas this is less the case with Saints. A slightly worse team can hold out by working extra hard for an hour but after than the extra effort tells.

Saints were awful, I can’t remember the last time I saw such a bad performance from us. I’m taking nothing away from Warrington who played very well (and if anything deserved a bigger winning margin) but we have a lot to learn from that.

Formby · 15/04/2024 07:12

Really pleased with our result yesterday, wasn’t expecting that. We are playing as if we care about each other and that’s been lacking for the previous 3 or 4 seasons. Saints simply looked as if they had no passion for the game but I don’t know why.

Sirzy · 15/04/2024 07:25

To me Hurrell seemed to be the only player playing with any passion for Saints. The amount of silly handling errors was shocking.

Currently watching tonight’s games on tv.
Hope any of you who are actually at the games have a good night.

Happily watching Saints march all over Hull.

The way Hull have been this season we can’t read too much into this but I will take it!

Sirzy · 19/04/2024 21:28

And in related news loving the news that Linkway in St Helens has been renamed James Roby Way.

ListenLinda · 19/04/2024 22:40

I have no words that for that Rhinos defeat today. So so frustrating.

Came here to say the same thing.

duc748 · 20/04/2024 18:57

Funniest thing about the Saints game was the commentators valiantly trying to make it sound like it was a contest, when Saints were thirty-odd points in the lead!

Sirzy · 20/04/2024 20:12

I really feel for Leigh after todays game, they were the better team for most of the game

My first live game of the season. Leigh certainly threw the ball around and were excellent at off-loading. I’m really proud of my team’s resilience because in the previous few seasons we would have given up and lost this game.

nowtygaffer · 26/04/2024 16:08

Looking forward to tonight's matches.
Sorry for Huddersfield last night.

duc748 · 26/04/2024 16:37

For some obscure reason Sky are showing the HKR/Wigan games at 2.15 am tonight (on Sky Sports Mix, which i have; don't have a full Sky Sports package)! So that's going on record, and I'll watch it over breakfast tomorrow. I'll make do with the radio commentary tonight. Saw a bit of the Saints game last night; I didn't think they looked very impressive, attack looked very clunky.

I enjoyed that game last night, but I also felt for Fartown.

I too am looking forward to tonight’s matches. All of them should be good contests.

Sweden99 · 26/04/2024 20:40

I did not see the Kull KR Wigan scoreline (at 34 minutes) coming!
