Is anyone enjoying the start of the new season?

Glad we managed to get that W tonight in that weather. Some good work done tonight and thankfully Newman didn’t fail his HIA. So will be available against Wire next week.

Looking forward to watching the two derbys tomorrow.
Reckon it’ll be a KR and Wigan win.

duc748 · 28/03/2024 22:56

Didn't see much of the game tonight, but Cas are really poor. Although their awful ground is a bit of a leveller. Whenever I've watched them this year, it's been Joe Westerman pretty much keeping the show on the road on his own, with a bit of help from Miller.

Formby · 29/03/2024 08:22

Thought Cas had decent chances to score first half but just couldn’t get it over the line, just faded out second half. I always rated Westerman.

RadioGaGaRadioGooGoo · 29/03/2024 08:38

I think I'm just about dried off from last night. First half Leeds were so poor, some of our decision making was terrible but our defence seemed to hold up to keep them out.

Second half was a big improvement but we only won because cas were so poor.

RadioGaGaRadioGooGoo · 29/03/2024 08:38

Looking forward to the 2 games today.

KR win and I'd like a saints win but I think Wigan will take it

duc748 · 29/03/2024 10:10

I read something the other day where someone made a good point: the thing about the Hull derby is that it seems only one of KR and FC are ever any good at the same time, but with Wigan/Saints, you generally have two top sides going toe-to-toe.

duc748 · 29/03/2024 13:57

My plans have gone a little awry. Flat battery on bike. 😞Bit late now to drive, with the parking issues. May have to make do with watching down the pub. A shame after the hassle I had to get a ticket.

Sweden99 · 29/03/2024 19:06

I rather enjoyed that derby, but then I am a Saints fan. Even though Wigan gought magnificently while a man down, I think the extra effort caught up with them.
Saints deserved the win, but Wigan look good for Super League.

Fully agree sweden I wasn’t expecting the win but I will very happily take it.

i think both cards given where right, Dupree possibly a bit lucky not to have been red.

happy saints fan tonight!

Sweden99 · 29/03/2024 19:10

@Sirzy, I did think Dupree would take an early shower, but the ref described his reasoning well.

He did, will be interesting to see the response from the disciplinary committee this week.

I think the sky team where spot on when they said both players would have been in a mess if the initial contact had been a little higher

Formby · 30/03/2024 16:58

The drama of being a Warrington fan, great game but Catalans too strong. Two props failed HIA tests so that’ll be a problem next week.

duc748 · 30/03/2024 20:53

Warrington v Cats on the BBC Red Button channel right now.

duc748 · 30/03/2024 23:58

Good contest, but I never really thought that Wire were going to do it. I've got a lot of time for Jordan Abdull, and Tom Johnstone is all class.

Formby · 01/04/2024 18:08

No props to name for us next week. Philbin and Musgrove failed head assessments and Vaughan has two match ban. Oh well, at some point it will be ‘our year’

Against Leeds that’s going to be a big ask, certainly a test for the depth in your squad.

duc748 · 03/04/2024 20:16

Great news: Bevan French signs a four-year deal to keep him at Wigan! Obviously so pleased about this; now we have retained all our spine. More of this wonderfulness, please! 😃

That’s a great bit of business!

Sweden99 · 03/04/2024 21:32

Looking forward to Leigh vs Wigan

duc748 · 03/04/2024 21:50

Well after getting tickets for Penrith and the GF derby, and ending up seeing neither live, I'm hoping it'll be third time lucky for Leigh! 😃provided a ticket arrives in the post tomorrow, that is. 🙄I was expecting it today, but nothing, so last chance saloon tomorrow. Why can't away tickets be emailed?

ListenLinda · 05/04/2024 22:16

That had better be the poorest I see Leeds Rhinos play this season. I’m fuming about it, the players we have should be playing better than that, at home too. Passive defence, no organisation in attack. Stupid short kicks and sloppy errors.

duc748 · 06/04/2024 00:01

Haven't seen the game yet, but Smith can't last long in the job, surely? Meanwhile, last night we were much more like it at the Sports Village.

ListenLinda · 06/04/2024 07:19

No i dont think so, probably get good odds on him being gone by end of the season.

I’m not sure he can last the season! We’ve got all the players on paper just absolutely no clue on the field.

Formby · 06/04/2024 10:02

I wasn’t expecting that score last night, I was expecting a close contest.
pleasing to see the spirit within our team and the rapport between the players which was definitely missing last year under Daryl Powell.
