Is anyone enjoying the start of the new season?

Well, sorry, Formby, but we are the Kings of rugby, y'know! 😀

Actually, I thought that was a very good performance, which will make the Aussies (and the Americans) take notice. We are not in Vegas to be the support act.

You are right. I enjoyed the last 20 mins though. We’re just too light in the middle. Was a great build up to watch and great for the game.
Think talks of Ireland next year.
I’ll be cheering from the terraces (actually we’re seated) next weekend, our first live game of what could be a typical Wire season!

Formby · 02/03/2025 12:44

George Williams has apologised in the local newspaper for the performance yesterday.

duc748 · 02/03/2025 14:16

I think what let Wire down wasn't so much lack of forward dominance, but too many errors, and some really poor defending in the first half. Some of those Wigan tries were like a training move; players strolling in without a glove being laid on them. I'm sure Burgess was not impressed. I'm away next weekend, so will miss the joys of Huddersfield and their cowbell! 😀

Another entertaining match last night. Did anyone else watch it?

duc748 · 07/03/2025 10:06

Most of it, but was down the pub, so not giving it my full attention. Leigh are a good side, and it looks like Cartwrnght has got Hull playing something like.

duc748 · 09/03/2025 22:46

Really pleased that Wigan were professional enough to avoid a potential banana-skin today and get the two points.

Formby · 10/03/2025 07:36

Can’t say I enjoyed our game yesterday. Hate to be the person who mentions injuries but …… and 2 more players injured during the game who won’t be playing for sometime. It’s going to be a long season. The improvements at the ground were good, shame not carried onto the pitch!

duc748 · 11/03/2025 16:36

I'm gonna call it right now, and say that I expect Sam Burgess to slope off back to Oz in the not too distant future.

Formby · 14/03/2025 15:50

Surely I don’t have to start shouting’Sneeeyd’

A good signing for us, and we definitely need a half, but the Salford situation isn’t good.

duc748 · 14/03/2025 16:56

George Williams has never had much of a long-kicking game, Sneyd would sort that.

duc748 · 14/03/2025 20:04

Anyone watching Saints v Leeds? It's live on YouTube on the Sportsman Channel.

duc748 · 22/03/2025 23:48

Well that was a disappointment, all the more so after the Cup exit to Hull. We struggled with the loss of Field, and Leeds wanted it more in a big game for them. Jon Wilkin was right to say that the poor second half against Hull was the bigger story than this league defeat, but nevertheless, it's two points lost, and the League Leader's Shield starts to disappear in the middle distance.

Formby · 23/03/2025 08:44

Still early days but the teams definitely feel more equal this season.
Having a fully fit team at the end of the season before the playoffs makes a whole world of difference.

duc748 · 29/03/2025 01:04

Initiatives like this make me proud of our club. 'Inclusion' really done in a right and meaningful way. Sky Sports recently made a very good three part docu about the club, unfortunately, seen by few, I suspect, and there were the wheelchair players, and all their facilities, and the games for other handicapped players. And like the many other women I admire whose work I have come across through MN, I think, these are good people, doing work.

Anyone intending on getting to the Kangaroos Tests?

Formby · 29/03/2025 09:35

That inclusion zone is an excellent idea. It would suit my circumstances.

Wont be going the tests unfortunately, In part because of my above comment.

I really enjoyed being at our game last night but there were a number of questionable ref decisions against both sides. The 5000 game certainly was one to remember.

duc748 · 06/04/2025 23:50

Are you still bouncing off the ceiling,Formby? 😃I did very much fancy you for the win (should have out a few quid on). But Saints are not all that, and you'll need to be much better to lift the Cup.

Formby · 07/04/2025 15:45

It was a great game (for us). Leigh next round, so we’ll have to wait and see.
still buzzing though!

Formby · 11/04/2025 20:19

Just setting down to watch tonight’s games.
Wigan v HKR should be a belter

duc748 · 11/04/2025 22:46

I don't think it disappointed; what did you reckon, Formby?

Formby · 12/04/2025 07:53

Great game and a good win too.

Sirzy · 12/04/2025 09:11

I was watching saints game so haven’t watched yours yet but seems like a convincing Wigan win in the end

duc748 · 12/04/2025 11:32

I thought Wigan were very good, and I'll look forward to a re-watch later. Well worth the 15 quid to Now TV! We looked second-best for big chunks of the game, but it's who ends up on top in the final quarter that counts.

Formby · 25/04/2025 09:09

The highs and lows of being a Wire supporter.
Going to be a tough few weeks but the resilience shown in last night’s game was inspiring.
