Is anyone enjoying the start of the new season?

So you've got Saints at home, Formby? Really ought to beat them, they have been ordinary this season.

Formby · 21/09/2024 19:48

Yes, got my tickets. Hope we play in the way we have been doing since Sam has brought a new belief between the players.

duc748 · 21/09/2024 20:22

I should have got mine yesterday, the bloody ticket office isn't open on Saturdays! And the online system is a complete nightmare; we've been moaning about it all season.

nowtygaffer · 27/09/2024 22:11

Great win for Leigh.

Hope Josh Charnley is OK.

ListenLinda · 27/09/2024 22:15

Looked nasty for Josh.
suspected broken neck. Hope he will be okay.
Also hope that the game tomorrow is as good as that one tonight!

nowtygaffer · 27/09/2024 22:27

Yes should be another great match.

duc748 · 27/09/2024 23:35

Same about Josh. Didn't look good. Salford never looked like winning that game. Even when they were on the Leigh line, the defence looked pretty comfortable.

Should be a good contest tomorrow. In the NRL finals, though, it'll take a massive shock for the Sharks to turn over Penrith tomorrow morning.

Formby · 28/09/2024 09:06

Hope Josh is doing okay, looked nasty.
Good game to watch and Leigh deserved that win.
Onto my match later - feeling nervous.

Formby · 28/09/2024 09:23

Just seen an update- Josh been released from hospital, misses next match under HIA rules. That’s good to hear for him.

nowtygaffer · 28/09/2024 16:56

That's good news. I'm amazed SL wingers don't get more injuries with all the acrobatics they do!
Can't see Saints doing much against Warrington but you never know with Saints!

nowtygaffer · 28/09/2024 19:32

Wow...what a game.

duc748 · 28/09/2024 21:00

Terrific contest. I imagine Formby is still bouncing! 😁It's going to be a big ask for Wire to go to the well again next weekend, though.

Formby · 29/09/2024 09:40

Wow, just wow. What a fantastic game all round. Everyone gave their all and it was as exhausting to watch as I imagine it was playing.
I do think beating HKR is a massive ask but we can dream…..

duc748 · 04/10/2024 20:45

Listening on the radio, Wire sound to be struggling in the first half.

nowtygaffer · 05/10/2024 09:19

Another great match last night.

Just shows how important goal kicking is in these close games.

Formby · 05/10/2024 14:14

Goal kicking can be crucial.
This “I’ve got a try/no try” really needs to be binned. Let the video ref make the decision if the ref doesn’t know.

duc748 · 05/10/2024 15:03

But that's what used to happen. I hear people saying that now, left, and right and centre, but the truth is, whatever system you use people will complain. Under the old system, people used to moan that "the ref won't just make a decision". And they use the same system we do (more or less) in the NRL, where there isn't this level of controversy. In my view, the fault here is less with the system, and more with the fact that the on-field ref shouldn't give a try unless he's pretty confident one has actually been scored. I don't think you can say that about Joe Burgess's effort.

Formby · 05/10/2024 16:25

I totally agree and hope it’s changed slightly next season.

duc748 · 05/10/2024 18:23

Looking comfy here at halftime

Sirzy · 05/10/2024 18:31

Sadly I can see next weeks game being similar. I hope not but I think big game experience could well be a factor.

is anyone else going next week?

duc748 · 05/10/2024 21:31

I'll be there, and I'm certain it will be a much tighter game than tonight's.

duc748 · 07/10/2024 00:40

Just now I'm watching the women's NRL GF. I knew the standard would be good, I've watched some of the Origin games, but it really is a cracking contest. A tough physical contest, and plenty of speed and skill on show, with some cracking tries. Just seems a bit of a bright light in an otherwise bleak time for women's sports, but at least I feel our sport is pretty much doing the right thing.

Formby · 10/10/2024 16:20

Looking forward to watching (on tv) a great game on Saturday

nowtygaffer · 10/10/2024 18:22

Me too! Looks like it's going to be a sellout.

duc748 · 12/10/2024 11:32

Hoping for a good contest and not too much rain. I rewatched the highlights of last year's match against Catalans last night, and it's fair to say that was a game that won't live long in the memory!
