Anyone else think back to Beckham sending off v Argentina when James did what she did and got sent off. We lost that on penalties, hopefully it’s different this time round!

She's let herself down imo

I agree

Deserved red card but her recklessness was a result of the frustrating England team performance

That’s exactly what went through my mind! She was wrong to do it but she’s young, inexperienced and was probably massively frustrated at not being able to do what she does. Not excusing her but I get it.

DuncinToffee · 07/08/2023 10:48

15 minutes to go

It crossed my mind, yes. Wonderful talent, strange unnecessary lapse in a crucial game.

The thing about VAR is that if the Bronze incident had gone to VAR, a penalty would have probably given. Even though in all the years before VAR it would not have been given. But not because it wasn't seen properly. That's why VAR is a mess atm.

I think the reason it was not a PK is because the ball went over the head of the striker, meaning she was never going to challenge for the ball.

Thank you for the explanation. That makes sense.

This where the missing 11th player shows when they're tired.

You have to learn on how to control your frustrations. She is young, so will hopefully mature as time goes on.

Gotmygladragson · 07/08/2023 10:57

Jess Carter - think she has done so well today.

burblish · 07/08/2023 11:02

@Gotmygladragson I agree - Carter has been excellent.

Nope.

Wayne Rooney stamping on a Portuguese player's bits in 2006 perhaps. Red card and Portugal won that match.

DuncinToffee · 07/08/2023 11:06

Penalties

Gotmygladragson · 07/08/2023 11:09

Gotmygladragson · 07/08/2023 11:09

England? Kelly? Daly? Bright?

GlassHalfEmpty1 · 07/08/2023 11:10

England, Kelly, Dlay, Bright and Zelem (not in that order though)

WeetabixTowels · 07/08/2023 11:14
