I'm in Wellington, and we've got tickets for Costa Rica v Spain, NZ v Philippines, and USA v Netherlands. Very excited! Although of course after a very mild start to our winter, it looks like it's going to pour down for the whole tournament.

How exciting!

I’ve got a very happy little girl here, getting to stay up late on a school night and she thinks we’ve actually won the World Cup 😂 can’t wait for the coming games!

DuncinToffee · 20/07/2023 10:16

Sam Kerr out for 2 matches

Courtney Brosnan in goal for Ireland, Claire Wheeler on the bench for Oz

That’s a massive blow for Australia!

HT 0-0

Quite a feisty game, Ireland have been impressive and are frustrating Australia.

Well done Australia! Supporting Ireland here but Aus seemed to be be stronger there .

DuncinToffee · 20/07/2023 13:06

yes Australia was the better team, Ireland did get changes towards the end.

I thought Ireland did well against one of the favourites! 💚
Where can I get a wall chart?

One of the Australian players has a proud grandad in Dublin.

What a day of football! Fantastic win for New Zealand. Staggering that a team like Norway appeared not to have any kind of plan. Reiten, Maanum, Graham Hansen - all look terrifying for their clubs, but seemed toothless. That has to be down to the coach. New Zealand were great. They played with such endeavour and fearlessness. That goal will be replayed over and over until their next game!
Anyone else love the ref announcement of the penalty? Such drama...

Australia vs RoI looked on the surface like it was going to be a similar sort of game - Ireland's game plan was similar to New Zealand's but more defensive. Australia were also very physical, I was amazed that there weren't more yellow cards. A fair result in the end, but i felt a bit sorry for Ireland because they defended brilliantly and really went on the attack towards the end - perhaps too late.

Why was Bella's reply to lljkk deleted?

God knows. Everything I said was factual.

Anyway, the truth is out there, as they say!

BellaAmorosa · 20/07/2023 21:53

I did also try to get @lljkk to give us a clue as to which Lioness she knew, so perhaps that was the problem.

DuncinToffee · 20/07/2023 23:05

I didn't see anyything wrong with your post, really surprised it went puff.

Will be watching Spain v Costa Rica, the others are too early, don't forget to wave @GreenCereal

I have a feeling that if Zambia start to win their matches questions will be asked.

pues · 21/07/2023 09:21

FIFA must be hoping that they quietly slip away before their ridiculous policy of self regulation for participating countries is exposed.

DuncinToffee · 21/07/2023 09:23

Comfortable half for Spain, not the most exciting match.

OP posts:
DuncinToffee · 21/07/2023 10:28

Good defending and goalkeeping from Costa Rica to stop Spain scoring more in their deserved win.
