Go ahead and send them down, we might be able to pick up Maddison or Thielemans on the cheap! We obviously need extra bodies in our squad.

And on that note - Hey, Vinicious Junior, come to Arsenal, you won't get any racism from us...

EddieHoweisMYmanager · 22/05/2023 19:20

Oh I’d love Vini Jr at the toon!

interestingly Maddison and Barnes, two of our supposed targets have been dropped tonight 👀

Brefugee · 22/05/2023 19:41

I hear Xhaka will announce his move before the last match of the season - presumably to get a last goodbye from the fans. (he had to come back for us to give him flowers and pictures etc at Gladbach, because he left in the summer break. I guess he's keen for that not to happen again)

I really really really wish we could afford him.

EddieHoweisMYmanager · 22/05/2023 23:36

Well in typical Newcastle style we left it open to a heart stopping last 5 minutes but WE BLOODY DID IT.

Think yourself lucky. If you were Arsenal that chance would have gone in and you'd have lost!

Congrats, and welcome to the Champion's League. I just hope you're not going to be chasing the same players we are in the window to strengthen...

EddieHoweisMYmanager · 22/05/2023 23:58

Nick Pope gets the keys to the city for that save as far as I’m concerned!

20 long years since we heard ‘the champioooooons’ ringing out at SJP, I was pregnant with my now 19 year old 😳

YouOnlyCameToSeeEboue · 23/05/2023 00:45

Brilliant! Enjoy the good times!

DuncinToffee · 23/05/2023 09:01

Well done the Toon.

The match caused Everton fans near heart attacks though Grin

Thanks all, still on cloud 9. Disappointed not to get the win though as I would love to finish above Man U but UCL is deffo the most important thing.

I remember in August when the fixtures came out, I pointed to our final match of the season against Chelsea at Stamford Bridge and I said to DH, ‘you never know, that game might be a decider between us and Chelsea as to who gets top 4’.

DH roared laughing and told me not to be ridiculous. I thought he was laughing at us getting top 4, turns out it was Chelsea 😜

This from Paddy Power made me laugh https://twitter.com/paddypower/status/1660751933785665539?s=46&t=b7y-Ah12QATVnL1_dJx3PA

What a goal from Brighton tonight. Europa confirmed.

Saints however look set to announce another manager who is perfectly suited to an extended stay in the Championship (if we are lucky)

Oblomov23 · 24/05/2023 22:14

Loved watching Brighton.

Lakeyloo · 25/05/2023 11:08

Stunning evening in more ways than one... what a season it's been.
Reminiscing with OH on the way home last night about the last 25+ years.
Didn't think we would still have a club at some points.
Looking forward to enjoying Sunday with no stress !

So that's the Pl finished for the season? In the Bundesliga (1st & 2nd at any rate) the last day is at the weekend. 2st on Saturday, 2nd on Sunday. They plat all the matches at the same time: 15:30. And each stadium (as always when other matches are on, a the goals in all the matches are announced.

So there are some real nailbiters this year at either end of the table and all can be won/lost on the last day.

So: most people will not want Bayern to win the league. So will be hoping they lose. But they are playing our biggest rivals so nobody wants them to win. OTOH: Dortmund are our 2nd biggest rivals. So lots of people don't want them to win either. It's going to be interesting to see what happens in our stadium on Saturday.

Best we can hope for is 10th so a washout of a season. Best thing? They will all be playing in next season's strip. I quite like ours

YouOnlyCameToSeeEboue · 26/05/2023 10:38

There's one game left for everyone in the premiership.

The top 4 are all sorted, although Newcastle could still pip Man Utd for 3rd.

Southampton are down, but we don't know yet who's going down with them. It's two out of Everton, Leeds, and Leicester.

All games being played at 1630 on Sunday.

YouOnlyCameToSeeEboue · 26/05/2023 22:22

Ah memories!

34 years ago this evening we won the league at Anfield, on goals scored.

Just popping my head in as I wait for the play-off final today - excited, nervous and any other word suitable to describe the possibility of Premier League away fans entering a ground between people's houses and back gardens Wink

DuncinToffee · 27/05/2023 15:24

You are a Luton Town supporter then I guess, good luck for later!

Yes, really hope Luton win.

poorremus · 27/05/2023 15:39

Yes, the Hatters all the way here! I can't settle to anything now and am trying not to stress eat all the snacks. Some of the family are off to Wembley but I couldn't cope with the scary upper tier seating Grin

AndNobbyDancing · 27/05/2023 17:29

Just started watching (had to watch the rugby first, I did not want Sarries to win, I think there should be greater penalties for financial cheating.)

As a neutral it has been a good 10 minutes.

LetsGoFlyAKiteee · 27/05/2023 19:28

Do find play offs cruel sometimes..especially if this one ends up going on penalties

AndNobbyDancing · 27/05/2023 20:37

Agree, it does seem cruel, especially when it goes to sudden death.

I do think on balance Luton deserved the win but do feel for the players and supporters of the Sky Blues.

LetsGoFlyAKiteee · 27/05/2023 20:45

I thought it was going to Coventry as things were just going their way...Good for Luton though seeing where they were years back! And they did finish 3rd. Know doesn't work like that...

MustTryHarderAndHarder · 27/05/2023 21:16

So happy for Luton.

Feel so sorry for the guy who missed his penalty. How do you get over that?

YouOnlyCameToSeeEboue · 27/05/2023 22:29

Looks like Dortmund managed to Spurs it up on the final day...
