Not sure about the ref in the Brighton game.

AndNobbyDancing · 04/05/2023 22:02

Well came through in the end. Massive won for the seagulls.

AndNobbyDancing · 04/05/2023 22:02

*win

EddieHoweisMYmanager · 04/05/2023 22:25

Best result for NUFC I think. Brighton have a really tough run in still but I’m pleased to see them nobble points from Manchester Reds. I’d be happy for the seagulls to get 4th spot. What a turn up for the books that would be.

Parky04 · 05/05/2023 07:17

Reading have been relegated. It's a sad day in the Parky household 😢😢

EddieHoweisMYmanager · 05/05/2023 07:44

Sorry about that Parky. It’s a gutting feeling.

Tarkan · 05/05/2023 09:58

So sorry Parky!

It's my wedding anniversary today and DH and I are off to Gayfield to watch Arbroath play Hamilton Accies. Hopefully we win and that's us safe. 🤞

Tarkan · 05/05/2023 09:58

Off to Gayfield tonight I mean. We'd be a bit early going right now. 🤣

Parky04 · 05/05/2023 10:55

Football is full of ups and downs. Unfortunately, being a Reading fan is mostly downs, but we go again next season.

WhiteHartLane · 05/05/2023 15:24

@Parky04 sorry to hear that, relegation is shit. Some good teams in L1 though so hopefully some enjoyable matches to come.

@Tarkan happy anniversary. Enjoy the game later and hope you get the result you need.

Tarkan · 05/05/2023 20:06

The haar is in at Gayfield but it's not as cold as it often is here. I even took my jacket off. 😁

If you don't know, I believe we're the closest stadium to the sea in Europe. Right off the North Sea too so it can get chilly on the bad days.

After a tense game it finished 0-0. We're staying up!!!!! Cove Rangers are relegated after a 2-1 loss and Hamilton (who we were playing) are in the playoffs. Such a relief for us.

We're a wee team, a lot of our players are part time. We got into the Scottish championship end of 2019 I think it was, despite that seeming against the odds for us. And then last season we were SO close to getting into the Scottish premiership. We almost got it automatically, ended up in the play offs, didn't manage it. And we're staying in the championship somehow again despite the risk of relegation or playoffs this year.

I just wish we had done a documentary like Welcome to Wrexham, we've had a hell of a few years. Grin

YouOnlyCameToSeeEboue · 05/05/2023 22:23

You and your big time leagues. I've been following Isle of Man FC. They got promoted to the NWCFL last season, and managed to stay up after a tough time this season. Went to a couple of freezing cold games at the Bernabowl (as they're now calling it). Great fun.

Brefugee · 06/05/2023 18:46

i love non-league matches, it has a totally different feel.

We beat Bochum 2-0 today with a not bad performance, and the away fans were brilliant, so the atmosphere was amazing.

aibutohavethisusername · 06/05/2023 22:32

We recently went to watch Reading City FC my first non league March and it was great.

EddieHoweisMYmanager · 07/05/2023 09:02

I’m up early with excitement/nerves for the game. We’ll be heading into town early as we managed to get tickets for our friends as well so a few jars to get a bit spicy will be in order 🍺🙌🏻

Brefugee · 07/05/2023 09:36

i love a good early afternoon match, with a beer or two with friends thrown in for fun. Even better if they support the opposing team.
Our beer garden (it is utterly fantastic, and there is also a stand selling crepes and apple pancakes, that you can have with warm vanilla sauce) was packed yesterday, lots of opposing fans.

One of whom - their strip is blue so goodness knows how i noticed - was wearing a Sheffield Wednesday scarf. He seemed a bit spooked when i spoke to him, until i showed him my Owls tattoo 😁

MustTryHarderAndHarder · 07/05/2023 17:34

Not quite sure how we are winning at the moment. Newcastle are playing so well and we just aren't.

Waiting for Xhaka to get a red card. He doesn't know when to stop.

WhiteHartLane · 07/05/2023 17:54

Excitement in L1 this afternoon, Plymouth up as champions. Sad to see Accy Stanley and Morecombe relegated along with FGR. The Franchise were also relegated which I am absolutely fucking delighted about. Scummy, fake club.

MustTryHarderAndHarder · 07/05/2023 18:33

That was a stressful watch. We could easily have lost.

Newcastle were quite thugish today. We were lucky none of our players were seriously injured.

Agree, Schar especially got away with a lot, very free with his elbows.

Great game for the neutral.

Yes, he deserved his own goal. Joelinton was awful too.

On the bbc, everyone is on our side and very negative about Newcastle because of their thuggery.

EddieHoweisMYmanager · 07/05/2023 20:46

Hmmm, from a very much non neutral perspective, Arsenal probably deserved the win but the ref was appalling. I’ve never heard all of SJP chanting ‘you’re not fit to referee’ before. I think had VAR not overturned the penalty decision early doors it might have been a different game, it gave Arsenal the breather they needed to get into the game. I haven’t rewatched the ?handball but yet again, the length of time it took to review it surely means it wasn’t clear or obvious and therefore the refs decision on the pitch should stand.

Hey ho. Looks like the West Ham v Man U game is going to go our way so 🤞🏻🤞🏻

I do want City to win the league now though 😂

Tarkan · 07/05/2023 20:59

I honestly spent most of that second half watching through my fingers. Very happy with those 3 points. ⚒️

Decent weekend for my teams. Smile

MustTryHarderAndHarder · 07/05/2023 21:09

@EddieHoweisMYmanager

I disagree with you. I think you deserved to win and were the better team but you got away with a lot of physicality which the referee should have stopped.

The "handball" hit is knee first which was why it wasn't given, but it wasn't obvious until it had been viewed several times.

But clear and obvious is a stupid rule anyway.
