The old Beelzebud advert - Two teams in Liverpool? Why not Liverton United (purple shirts)?

Wash your mouth out with soap! 😆

Strong rumours that Newcastle are in for Gordon @DuncinToffee cant say the NUFC fan base are enamoured by the idea as in our experience he’s a cheating wee shite with a dreadful attitude but in Eddie we trust I guess.

DuncinToffee · 25/01/2023 08:44

Nobody minds a cheating wee shite when they play for their team Smile

It's a thing he will need to cut out from his game but he is still young with a lot to learn.

Aye there is that aspect but there’s just something about him that I can’t warm to. I love a shithouse but not a cheat.

speaking of shithousery…

Give Jacob Murphy a lifetime contract for this…

Fair enough. He hasn't really shown up this season but good luck to him.

Mind I trust Eddie Howe to get the best out of a player and stamp that nonsense out of him.

Lets see what the rest of January has to bring.

God I can’t wait for next Tuesday at SJP, it’s going to be wild. I’m in London for a meeting that I’m side dooring early to get back to the ground. Might start pre drinks on the train!

LeatherTuscadero · 29/01/2023 15:46

Don’t mind Arsenal getting knocked out of the FA Cup by Man City, as long as we beat them at home in North London on Wednesday 15th Feb in the League.

biggest game of the season? Six pointer?

is it bigger than the return fixture, Man City v Arsenal in Manchester in a couple of months? I think it might be, because it blocks their current resurgence.

YouOnlyCameToSeeEboue · 29/01/2023 17:46

I can live with that loss. We weren't outclassed and we were playing a weakened team against a pretty much full strength City. I should give us belief when we have our best 11 out.

I'm willing to sacrifice the FA Cup, and the Europa League to keep our Premiership challenge going. City aren't going to be so forgiving next season, and Toon and ManUre are only going to get stronger as well, so next season is likely to be a very tough one.

Agree.

Yes, everyone is strengthening their squad so much that I have no idea how we will do next year. But is really good for the PL in general.

So pleased for Brighton today. Liverpool were so dirty. I am worried that they will seriously injure one of our players when we play them.

I wonder how much Mitoma is worth now? How do Brighton get such brilliant players for so little money?

They got Caceido for around £5m and it looks like we are going to offer £70m.

Dunno but I can only be grateful we have Dan Ashworth as I suspect he may have played a not insignificant part in helping identify this type of talent.

Yes, my husband said that yesterday.

YouOnlyCameToSeeEboue · 30/01/2023 19:14

OK, they're officially trolling us now. Apparently, Arsenal are trying to sign Jorginho.

As the old schoolground saying goes, "I wouldn't touch him with yours"...

YouOnlyCameToSeeEboue · 30/01/2023 21:28

OK, one more for the celebrity Arsenal fan group...

Brefugee · 31/01/2023 10:24

Can i interrupt to ask a daft question?
How does the fixture list work?
In the Bundesliga they make the list so that the 2nd half of the season is the same as the first, so if your first match is Dortmund at home, when you've played all the other teams (which is usually before the winter break - the top team at that time is called the Herbstmeister - Autumn champion) when the season restarts in january your first match is the opposite match, so away to Dortmund. It works quite well in that if you play Dortmund in summer when it's hot, your next match is in winter. And so on.

But i see teams in England seem to play each other quite close together in the fixture list, so I'm guessing it doesn't work like that.

I think Chelsea see us coming. They have sold us Luis and Willian recently who were over 30 and weren't great.

Let's hope Edu knows what he is doing.

Thanks for that.

On the Last Leg they said Kier Starmer was asked whether he would prefer to sit next to Piers Morgan or Jeremy Corbyn at a match and he said PM.

That would make more sense, but I think they think about the TV selections first before anything else. They do try and have as large a gap as possible but not to the extent of having the opposite matches in the second half in the same order as in the first half.

We are playing the Man City home and away fixtures quite close to each other because the home fixture was delayed due to the Queen's death.

Brefugee · 31/01/2023 11:39

thanks.

I get it's difficult to fit the postponed matches in, same here. But we don't often have midweek matches (except the cup, and no replays for that). They're called "English weeks" Grin

Hi all ! Just discovered this thread....
1.Which team you support.
Brighton & Hove Albion (Since the "old days" - first game at the Goldstone - I was very young ;)) Season ticket holder since the Withdean.

  1. How you are getting your kids to follow the correct team.
No kids, but it's a lot easier to convince the nieces and nephews now than it was 10 years ago!
  1. A thought on this season
Just wow !

I have a soft spot for BHA since that time at Wembley when the fans all wore Jimmy Melia "wigs"

It's all down to our Chairman, Tony Bloom. He's a bit of a mathematics genius and was a professional gambler. Believe it or not, he has some kind of secret mathematical algorithm which the club use to identify players at a really young age and figure out statistically whether they are genuinely good, or just lucky. Coupled with the fact that we have an amazing academy, we pick them up for relatively little money and bring them on. Only problem is, we don't keep them :(

EddieHowesBlackandWhiteArmy · 31/01/2023 11:54

I’m very very nervous for tonight…
