I've got no feelings about tonight for some reason. I think it will be a good game though.

Brefugee · 03/01/2023 18:11

the Bundesliga doesn't start again until 22nd Jan so it's lovely just watching the PL matches, purely to look at the football and with nothing invested.

DoingALeicester · 03/01/2023 18:49

Feeling nervous about tonight from a Leicester point of view too. It's a must win for us.

YouOnlyCameToSeeEboue · 03/01/2023 20:35

Hmm, tight game. Toon started fouling and the ref showed some yellows to try and calm it. But then felt he had to even it up (Eddie's one was ridiculous) and then bottled showing later ones.

I do worry it's going to be decided by a refereeing error.

YouOnlyCameToSeeEboue · 03/01/2023 20:41

And just seen the stats. Arsenal fewer fouls but more yellow cards.

Every f*cking week...

YouOnlyCameToSeeEboue · 03/01/2023 21:43

Oh. A bit annoyed with Newcastle's fouly and divey approach, but they defended very well. Newcastle were more than happy with the draw, which says something.

Ødegaard was off his game tonight, which might have made the difference...

YouOnlyCameToSeeEboue · 03/01/2023 22:06

And good to see Sir Les agree - Dan Burn on Gabriel - how is that not a penalty?

DoingALeicester · 04/01/2023 11:13

I only vaguely watched the Arsenal match because I was too busy depressingly pressing refresh on the Leicester feed.... dreadful result for us. Arteta properly lost it at the end didn't he? Good to see a bit of passion I thought. Wish we got that from Brendan.

EddieHowesBlackandWhiteArmy · 04/01/2023 12:24

I accept that the BDB shirt pull on Gabriel could well have been given as a penalty, however we’ve had similar not given (Sean Longstaff v Wolves) and the foul given against Joelinton which led to to the free kick in which BDB shirt pulled was ridiculous. Joelinton got the ball very clearly and no free kick should have been given much less a yellow card awarded.

If I’m being picky I’d say Xhaka avoided a second yellow card when it really should have been given and Arteta needs to get back in his box as there is no way the ‘hand ball’ was a penalty.

In all I think a draw was a fair outcome for both sides.

We got more yellow cards than Arsenal. 5 vs your 4.

Joelinton
Bruno G
Wilson
Almiron

and hilariously for the second time this season Jamaal Lascelles picks up a yellow card from the bench 🤦🏼‍♀️

YouOnlyCameToSeeEboue · 04/01/2023 15:02

The stats were from half time. I think Newcastle could have had at least one second yellow in the first half alone, but the ref had lost control of the game long before then.

I agree, the handball should not have been a penalty - I would have hated to get that at the other end (as has happened on more than one occasion).

I don't remember what happened for the free kick, but that's not really relevant.

I reckon we would have lost that game last season, and the fact that we probably deserved to win it this season shows progress.

Newcastle were definitely happier with the draw.

And what is it with Lascelles? 🤣

EddieHowesBlackandWhiteArmy · 04/01/2023 15:21

Ah fair enough I didn’t clock the time you posted re the stats.

We deffo would have lost that game last season. And did. But we’ll see how the rematch towards the end of the season goes back at SJP, could be a title decider 🫣

EddieHowesBlackandWhiteArmy · 04/01/2023 15:21

And Lascelles. What a guy 😂😂

AndNobbyDancing · 04/01/2023 22:36

What do you think happens to the Spurs players at half time? Doppelgangers? The drugs kick in? Bribery?

Magic halftime oranges (and playing against a team that cant finish). We even scored 1st 😆

Are you in the Redmond out camp? Atmosphere sounded very hostile last night, understandably.

BitOutOfPractice · 05/01/2023 14:21

Wolves fan here checking back in after a MN break.

Feeling cautiously optimistic that we are headed in the right direction under our new manager, JLo. More signings to come in January as well I hear.

Liverpool in the cup this weekend not such a daunting prospect as it was when the draw was made.

YouOnlyCameToSeeEboue · 06/01/2023 11:43

RIP Gianluca Vialli. A true gent as far as I could see.

And he could certainly hit them as well...

LetsGoFlyAKiteee · 06/01/2023 13:39

So sad. Could see it coming after said about the cancer coming back. Such a amazing player and the tributes show what he was like as a person

DoingALeicester · 07/01/2023 14:53

Sorry about the result @WhiteHartLane - thought you played better than us for much of that. Certainly the first half. Your new owner seems fun! Said you are 'sleeping giants' Grin

WhiteHartLane · 07/01/2023 16:08

Thank you @DoingALeicester 🙂 just got back from the match, was very proud of the lads today, play like that with a few new signings and hopefully they can climb off the bottom. Nice to see a strong Leicester line up too, no complacency from Roger's despite our current dreadful form.

Will catch the Spurs highlights later, happy they are in the hat. Just one more goal needed for Kane to level Greaves record.

TheFutureIs · 07/01/2023 19:53

Obviously disappointed we're out of the cup, but I think Pompey can be happy with how they played. Would have been amazing if the Hackett attempt had been successful

Westfacing · 07/01/2023 19:56

Come on you Reds!

Brefugee · 07/01/2023 21:35

very sorry @EddieHowesBlackandWhiteArmy but YES! finally the Owls didn't disappoint.
(out in the next round to the Blades most likely - so I'm enjoying it while i can)

BitOutOfPractice · 07/01/2023 21:54

wolves fan here.

as soon as I heard it was Mike Dean on the VAR I knew our third goal would be disallowed. He consistently favours the big clubs. Total dinosaur. I hate to sound paranoid but the big team bias certainly feels real right now.

burblish · 07/01/2023 22:02

It feels as though most of our players have made a howler at some point so far this season, bar Alisson who has been in fine form - so I guess it was just typical of our season that it was his turn to do something utterly stupid tonight! I was really pleased that both Salah and Nunez got on the scoresheet, but another entertaining yet ultimately frustrating match.
