I watched that game. Toon were definitely the better team. I always thought Chav$ki were too quick to sack Teeny Tommy Tuchel, as I thought he was doing a very good job for them, in very difficult circumstances. But there you go...

AndNobbyDancing · 12/11/2022 23:38

YouOnly at least the PL isn't like the Rugby Premership where you continue to play in the league when your players are on international duty.
Love Eddie so delighted with the Newcastle result, Southgates replacement?

EddieHowesBlackandWhiteArmy · 13/11/2022 00:18

@AndNobbyDancing noooo he’s going nowhere! I honestly don’t think he’d go. Not now. He’s building something special. He doesn’t strike me as a quitter, he’ll take us as far as he can before even thinking about something else. Even the England job.

YouOnlyCameToSeeEboue · 13/11/2022 00:24

I'd love someone to replace Southgate, but I can't see Eddie doing it at the moment, not when he's got a project going, and the money to work on it.

Lampedsomeoiks · 13/11/2022 15:21

Forest Green Rovers.

No kids.

Season so far? *s up. A shame but they will need a really good rest of season to dig themselves out; they just cannot string any results together and are conceding far too many goals. 20th in the league come May will be a very good season.

Brefugee · 14/11/2022 08:51

Am still basking in the glow of an "edge of your seat, having kittens" match against Dortmund on Friday, and winning 4-2. Go Gladbach.

We have a winter break every year, and whoever is top of the league gets to be the "Herbstmeister" (autumn champions)

Also a lot of talk here about boycotting Qatar and everyone now going to the 2nd/development or women's team matches until the winter break. Which will be fun.

YouOnlyCameToSeeEboue · 14/11/2022 09:20

Go Gladbach

Makes me think of that person in the crowd who starts off;

"Give us a B..."

WhiteHartLane · 14/11/2022 12:09

Not sure how Spurs have stayed 4th with some of their recent performances, but I'll take it and hope for better after the WC. Bentacur and Kulu made the difference against Leeds.

The Brentford bounce didn't last long, Gillingham lost to Northampton Saturday and once again no goals!!

No disrespect to Wolves but I'm really underwhelmed with our cup draw. Had it been at home I'd have been buzzing but there's no money in an away tie like that, especially as its being played w/c 19th December. They've also picked the 2 teams who have scored the fewest goals this season (6 and 8) so its got 0-0 and pens written all over it, although Gills have won 3 shoot outs this season so maybe that wont be a bad thing.

WhiteHartLane · 14/11/2022 12:30

@Lampedsomeoiks do you think FGRs poor form is due to losing Rob Edwards to Watford? I have the same ambition for Gillingham, I'll take 22nd now just to stay in the EFL.

i really wish someone would... In reality we're teaching them to sing "we know where your car is" to the ref :)

We’re on holiday in Dubai at the moment and it’s a a footballers playground currently, Big Dan Burn, Sven Botman, Elliot Anderson and Allan St Maximin were on our flight and we’ve just seen the Bournemouth caretaker manager at the water park 😂

DuncinToffee · 16/11/2022 11:42

Newcastle are having their training camp in Saudi, don't they?

Everton is off to Australia.

They are, they must have a short break prior to starting. We also saw Lucas Digne, it’s been a veritable smorgasbord of footballing talent so far!

We’re heading to Abu Dhabi for the Grand Prix at the weekend so I bet we spot more then.

The UK and Ireland have submitted their bid for Euro 2028. Here are the list of stadiums they plan to use:

If you're still in Dubai in December, you can catch the Dubai Super Cup featuring lots of players not at the World Cup!

Oblomov22 · 20/11/2022 16:51

I've started a World Cup thread.

Davros · 26/11/2022 15:36

DuncinToffee what is London Stadium, no 3?

Aha! It's a bit of a bland name after Anne Boleyn

Brefugee · 27/11/2022 14:34

A lot of us here in Germany are boycotting the world cup and watching lower leagues instead (last match is 3rd Dec, unfortunately, for the winter break)
So yesterday i trotted off to watch our Under 23s (which is basically our development team).
As club members we get in free, it's a cute little pitch with a few seats in a small stand, and a terrace most of the way round. Usually 300 people or so. But all the ultras turned up with the flags and the drums and the banners, so it was a thousand more. 50 away fans who were warmly greeted on arrival (seriously, away fans are a big part of football culture here). It was a lot of fun, and i can't wat four our away match next week. In with the ultras at the away end (I have never been in an away end in my entire life of going to matches so that will be exciting)

burblish · 16/12/2022 14:49

According to Gianni Infantino, FIFA plan to hold a 32-team Men’s World Club Cup every four years from June 2025. They also plan to hold friendly international tournaments between four teams of four different confederations in the March of every even year. UEFA apparently doesn’t care because these plans won’t cut across UEFA’s own tournaments, including the new format for the Champions League which will come into effect in season 2024/2025. Infantino has also mentioned other changes in scheduling of international matches. Apparently, he also cares about player welfare.

FFS, how many matches are they expecting elite players to handle in a season?! And surely for the best players, some of them may now have only ONE proper summer break/off-season every four years? A player at a high ranking club and who also plays for a good European nation could find themselves playing in the European Championships one summer, the World Club cup the next, and the World Cup the next. This is utterly ridiculous. Just look at the injuries from this current World Cup - most of those players now have 5-6 months of club football to get through straight after.

DuncinToffee · 16/12/2022 17:33

It's pure greed.

And the club world cup is just another super league idea.
