After all my years on Mumsnet I thought I would give this thread a go and see if there are any fellow darts fans about?

I wasn't planning on starting it until next week when the competition has picked up a bit but after that match between Borland and Brooks I couldn't not post now!

So, I know I am probably alone but if there is anyone out there come and chat with me Grin

Did they announce who's in the league this year? Hope Fallon is in there!

ExtremelyDetermined · 03/01/2022 23:09

They said they weren't announcing it tonight but didn't say (I don't think) when they are.

My very first time watching the darts was just a few days ago - Gary Anderson won and then it was the Smith/Clayton match. Omg. I had never realised how intense it could be and how well they could play, bouncing off each other and pushing each other to do better and better. It was amazing and I think I'm hooked!

Also really enjoyed the Anderson/Wright match, if that wasn't Gary playing at his best he must have been phenomenal when he was in top form. Might see if I can look up some 2015-2017 matches!

And really enjoyed the final tonight, really felt for Michael Smith, he was so disappointed. He is fab though so I'm sure his turn will come soon.

@Shallwegoforawalk Welcome to the world of darts! So glad you enjoyed it, its intense. The World Championship is around 15th Dec to beginning of Jan and is such a treat this time of year. There's plenty of other tournaments throughout the year to get into.

I'm sad for Smith too, but he's pretty young and will win lots of majors I'm sure. We might even get sick of him winning in future Wink

Hope to "see" everyone this time next year for World Championships chat Smile

JaneJeffer · 03/01/2022 23:20

Thanks @ExtremelyDetermined. I wonder why 🤔 It will probably come up on Instagram at some stage no doubt.

I still miss Sid on the commentary Sad he came out with some great lines.

ExtremelyDetermined · 03/01/2022 23:20

I don't tend to watch much during the year (DS keeps me up to date with what's going on) but the World Champs is a must watch here, it is addictive.

dinahsdishes · 03/01/2022 23:34

I suspect they're waiting to see if Fallon gets a tour card at qschool next week @JaneJeffer

JaneJeffer · 03/01/2022 23:52

Ah right @dinahsdishes

No Lakeside until April. We usually move on to watching that and it always seems more refined after Ally Pally Grin

@Shallwegoforawalk welcome to darts, it is such a great game (I have only been a fan for a couple of years).

We watch it when it's on ITV4 during the year but we don't normally have sky sports so miss any tournaments that are only shown on sky.

Thanks all for keeping me company on this thread, I will definitely start it again next year and hope to see some of you there Smile.
