I wonder how often the spotters actually have to catch them on the bars (or off I suppose!). The bits where they're hovering seem a random to me, but I suppose they know when they're most likely to come off.

The do sometimes. It's mostly to stop them falling on their head and neck - not to break every fall. There are some YouTube compilation videos for spotters.

Simone Biles out of team but not individual apparently IMO not exactly in the spirit of the games & I wouldn't imagine her team members are too happy atm 😏

Apparently Simone has withdrawn from a mental issue. That's huge. She baulked and the vault and kept herself safe, which is the most important thing.

Simone was off on practically everything in the qualifying rounds so there was definitely something up maybe the team decided it was better if she dropped out of the team.

Plus we don't know what the US media is saying

She had to deal with giving evidence in court recently so I'm sure having the whole world watching you after that is quite overwhelming I'd have thought

The coverage is so frustrating. Changing channels every 10 minutes.

It keeps swapping from red button to BBC 1 so not sure what bits I'm missing currently on BBC 1 and now there are camera issues and no gymnastics at all just chat
