What an utterly wonderful example of a human he is.

What a brilliant young man and a fantastic example for kids today.

To all the racists out there trying to tear him down. Fuck you.

What an amazing response. Such humility and dignity. He’s already a hero but is surely destined for great things on and off the football pitch. The idiots who defaced his mural in Manchester should be deeply ashamed but how wonderful that his community are covering the vile words with hearts and messages of support

areyouadogperson · 12/07/2021 22:27

I wonder how many of these racists on Twitter last night and the fighting thugs in London had food in their kids stomachs over the last year because of Marcus Rashford.

Notonthestairs · 12/07/2021 22:28

I read his post and had a big gulp of tea to avoid welling up.

A truly impressive person and a credit to his family.

The whole team acted with courage and commitment and gave us some great football. We are very fortunate.

Goldenbear · 12/07/2021 22:29

Awful plus there is something really cringe about public figures commenting and offering advice on situations they have never faced in their life. When is the last time this woman took a penalty at a football match probably zero but even if it isn't I can't recall the name in the Finals of any sport!

Ghosttile · 12/07/2021 22:32

He’s comes across as a really decent human being. The work he’s done, using his profile to help get children fed and shame politicians into action, has made a real difference. His message to Emma Raducanu after she had to retire from that match at Wimbledon was perfect. He embodies everything positive you’d want your son to grow up to be. The gap between him and the absolute nothings who spewed out hate at him online is a chasm.

The other two players, 19 year old Bukayo Saka and 21 year old Jadon Sancho, have also had horrendous abuse.

noblegiraffe · 12/07/2021 22:33

He ran rings around the government again and again with the Free School Meals campaign and seems decent and compassionate. He's also emotionally articulate which isn't something you often see in young men.

What an excellent role model.

Lampzade · 12/07/2021 22:34

My fifteen year old ds said that Marcus Rashford makes him want to be a better person.

MrsOvertonsWindow · 12/07/2021 22:34

A fantastic role model. All of them have been a credit to their families, communities and the country.

Pieceofpurplesky · 12/07/2021 22:36

He embodies all that is good in the broken society we live in. He remembers where he came from and keeps fighting for kids like him who go without.

Forget England manager - I'd vote for him as PM!

AgnesNaismith · 12/07/2021 22:36

They are all brilliant. England may not have won but we have a team full of role models who we can genuinely be proud of. There’s always next year!

StCharlotte · 12/07/2021 22:37

@CaMePlaitPas

He has such a beautiful dignified spirit, I'm a huge fan of this young man.
I couldn't have put it better myself Smile
TeardropsFallingOnHotSand · 12/07/2021 22:38

It’s all about leadership. Something wonderful is happening to that team and it’s reverberating around the whole lot of them. Strangely, it’s not Southgate, it’s all of them. All are leaders.

Osrie · 12/07/2021 22:39

More dignity in his little finger than the idiots!

Also the Tory MP for Dover - old enough to know better than a young man. Voted into a privileged position of power and comes out with such flippant criticism as reported by the bbc website this morning. Unbelievable, okay maybe not

Kendodd · 12/07/2021 22:41

I don't think I could cope if I was his mum, I'd be so proud I'd spontaneously combust.

TableFlowerss · 12/07/2021 22:41

He seems like such a lovely lovely guy. Absolute 💎

AgnesNaismith · 12/07/2021 22:44

You’re right @TeardropsFallingOnHotSand they are all leaders! They all seem to want to do the best for each other too. Quite exciting.

StarryNight468 · 12/07/2021 22:51

I love him and Saka.

Pinuporc · 12/07/2021 22:51

Footballers have always been role models for young kids but the current team are as inspiring off the pitch, as they are for playing football. The response from Marcus Rashford today, shows immense maturity in the face of not only his personal disappointment of missing the penalty, but the abuse directed at him from racist morons.
And just incredulous at the Tory MP who criticised him. Maybe he wouldnt have had to instigate or take on the campaign if the Conservative MPs had done the job they were paid to do, properly?

FreakinFrankNFurter · 12/07/2021 22:52

It wasn’t so long ago when footballers weren’t very good role models for children.

There are currently some fantastic ones in the England squad and Marcus Rashford is the best.

He is such an amazing young man.

Aspiringmatriarch · 12/07/2021 22:52

He's just an outstanding human being.

RaspberryRoyale88 · 12/07/2021 22:53

What an inspiration!

bubblebubblebubbletrouble · 12/07/2021 22:54

I bawled - bless him. What an amazing level headed young man he is.
His mum must be so proud

sadeyedladyofthelowlandsea · 12/07/2021 22:54

No, it's just dust in my eye...

He just never puts a foot wrong in how he conducts himself. Just not ever. He's almost too pure for this world. I cannot imagine how proud his mum is of him - and it's an utter testament to her that he is the young man that he is, and makes the difference that he does, when he doesn't have to. But he does it because he feels he has to. We don't deserve him.

Longislandicedteaplease · 12/07/2021 22:54

I am proud of Marcus Rashford so his mum must be beaming, what an amazing young man she has raised.
The letters from the children have melted my heart.
My sons year 2 class all wrote a letter to the England team today and the teacher posted them all off after school, I hope they get to see them and the innocent feedback and support makes them smile.

PomRuns · 12/07/2021 22:55

He's fantastic.
