I now love football: who should I support?

Following England this year has really given me a love for the game and I want to see more! I'm thinking I should start supporting a team. Wondering who you support and why, is it a team that's been in your family, or your local team?

As you can see from my name I love Kalvin Philips but am guessing he will be snapped up and taken away from Leeds now? Unless he stays true to his roots 🤔

I think we need a football wenches thread like the swagger inn threads, so we don't de-rail the ones about actual football. I know there's the one about which players we fancy but perhaps we need a long-standing one 😂

I love reading your stories! I'm originally from Yorkshire and went to uni in sheffield, but I spent many more years in Brighton. At the moment I'm living abroad but moving back to the UK in the autumn, probably back to Brighton. I totally agree with supporting your local team but....it's Brighton. I'm doomed, arent I?

I would love to support Leeds as a yorkshire lass and Kalvin fan but I'm worried I would be too jealous of everyone who actually lives in Leeds and gets to engage properly.

Unless I....moved to Leeds? 🤔🤭

It’s unimaginable to me that people have a choice of football club. My parents, grandparents and all aunts, uncles and cousins etc all support the same club. I had my season ticket there longer than I’ve ever lived in one place, so in a lot of ways, it’s home for me. That said, if you are picking, Brighton wouldn’t be a terrible choice. Their ground is great, the fans seem generally a good bunch and there’s still potential for giant killing victories, which is so much more fun than going into every game expecting to win.

You could become a Wrexham supporter and see where Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney take the club now they are celebrity chairmen! (Hopefully out of the National League…) ⚽️⚽️

Leeds have a massive overseas contingent.

They’re weirdly popular in Scandinavian countries.

@Kalvinette there are Leeds fans all around the world! We went on a weekend break to Thessaloniki is Greece, went in a bar and stumbled upon the Greek supporters branch! We had a great time with them. Similarly, my dad has come across Leeds fans in Vietnam, China, and all over the States when he has travelled for work. I don't believe for a second that you don't get to chose your club; if you have no natural allegiance, then of course you do!
