I now love football: who should I support?

Following England this year has really given me a love for the game and I want to see more! I'm thinking I should start supporting a team. Wondering who you support and why, is it a team that's been in your family, or your local team?

As you can see from my name I love Kalvin Philips but am guessing he will be snapped up and taken away from Leeds now? Unless he stays true to his roots 🤔

Personally I don't see what you see in him but I do support the team from the other side of the city

I'm a Villa fan and live in Scotland. My brother, dad and grandad are Villa fans and live in the north of England. My son has followed in our footsteps and so has my nephew. My dad and grandad are originally from the midlands.

We live near Liverpool and love LFC. I was never a football fan but DH is and he's really gotten me into it.

Of course you don't! We wouldn't support our shit football team out of choice! The pain, the briefs ups, and the downs.

Of course you can be a glory chaser and pick the big clubs, but that's not how it works. If you could choose then we would support arsenal, man United etc!!

Newcastle for me. It helps with the England disappointments when you're used to seeing it week in and week out 😂

But the best thing about supporting the Toon Army is that nobody really dislikes them. They have the best fan base too (but I'm biased).

Arsenal here! I wish I could give Saka a hug and tell him what a great boy he is ☺️ He's got such a great career in front of him.
Apparently he comes from a lovely family, so I'm sure they are all giving him the love and support he needs to get through this devastating time.

I support the local team went to matches alot before I went off to uni. We're in the championship at the moment, still hope we'll go up to the premiership one day!

I have a bit of a soft spot for Liverpool in the premiership.

Stanley Matthews used to eat his sandwiches in my Great Aunty's shed before the match. My brother supports Blackpool to this day. Hope over experience.

Colchester is our local team but we all support Arsenal due to DH supporting them since he was a boy and me since I found out that our school heart throb did 😂 about 30 years ago.

@gardeninggirl68 I'd find it very hard to support MK Dons because of how they started out and the relocation from Wimbledon.

Having said that, it they're your local team, then it makes sense.

No you don't, not unless you want to 'support' a Premiership team from afar and never really understand or experience what a football club really really mattering to you feels like.

I have two teams.

My local team, who are pretty shit and on the brink of going bust (yet again), but they're my team and I have family links to the club (very close relative played for them).

I'm also an Arsenal fan and have been for 20 years. Started because a boy I fancied at school was an arsenal fan. And I absolutely fell in love with them and the way they played football, and still love them long after I forgot about him.

I enjoy having both. They're so far apart in the leagues and I've never known them to play eachother in the past 20 years. Wouldn't be an issue if they did- arsenal would have serious serious problems if they couldn't beat them.

I had a season ticket at my local team for years and I've been to watch arsenal in the past too. I'd actually fallen out of love with football over recent years but this England team have changed that since the last World Cup and I am just so so proud of them after the euros.

I think I'm going to try and go to different live matches, just go and enjoy watching football again. I definitely want to go to a villa match now 😁
