Can't see a thread on this ....

Any rugby lovers here? Not many of my girlfriends share my love of rugby.

France/Argentina - cracking close match.

Japan/Russia - glad the home team won.

Australia/Fiji fantastic first half.

And now the All Blacks v Springboks - can't wait ....

Good point grins. I'd forgotten that.

AnOojamaflip · 14/10/2019 20:30

Oooh Bundee Aki has a three match ban! His world cup is done no matter what occurs Saturday.

I was a bit, that's a bit harsh, but having rewatched it in slow motion I've change my mind!!

massistar · 15/10/2019 14:21

A lot of tackles look worse in slow motion though. I think the issue is still a real lack of consistency in this area. Jonny Gray got off with a warning for his on Sunday and the Ken Owens one against Fiji got a yellow but looks horrific to me.

MrsJoshNavidi · 17/10/2019 09:00

Eddie has dropped George Ford.

AnOojamaflip · 17/10/2019 20:54

Does seem an interesting choice, with Farrell at 10, and he's not been brilliant so far. Wouldn't surprise me if it's some psychology move. Don't know enough about Australian attitude to know why - just wouldn't surprise me if it were!!

minmooch · 17/10/2019 23:35

Just catching up whilst I'm on holiday ..... Eddie's dropped George? But why? Crikey.

Eddie Jones has some Rugby League guy on board so who knows what tactics he's going to employ for this game.

AlunWynsKnee · 18/10/2019 08:21

Team named for Sunday. Carre comes in over Nicky Smith. Bit of a gamble I think but could be a good one. Like the back row with Wainwright, Navidi and Tipuric.

crabb · 18/10/2019 08:51

Signing in to wave the Australian flag ( or Wales as a backup, we did live there for 9 months a long time ago). I don’t feel confident about Aus chance against England tomorrow. It’s been great watching from Aus as there’s only a 2 hour time difference.

Minorityreports · 18/10/2019 19:04

Hey!! Irish reporting for duty!

Nervous about tomorrow.

Anyone else?

Minorityreports · 18/10/2019 19:06

Shitting myself might be a better way of putting it.

Optimistically sitting on the shitter.

Minorityreports · 18/10/2019 19:08

We could have done without facing NZ this early on.

My NZ friend said 'If you want to win the world cup, you have to be capable of beating any team'.

So now I want to beat everyone NZ I come across. To death. Lol.

Minorityreports · 18/10/2019 19:10

And not just at rugby............

Minorityreports · 18/10/2019 19:13

Sorry to any any NZ folk reading! It's friendly banter..... We're best friends (until it comes to rugby).

OooErMissus · 18/10/2019 19:19

Am not a massive rugby fan, but am a Kiwi living in NZ, married to an Irishman who is into rugby, so can't really avoid tonight's match!

We have two DC who can't decide who they're going to support!

If anyone has to beat us, I'd like it to be Ireland. ☘️

Should be a good game 💚🖤

Minorityreports · 18/10/2019 19:30

Aw bless. Your poor little youngsters! They'll support the winners forever more.
I just can't see NZ getting knocked out of a world cup at quarter final stage, that's all.

But as Schmidt said, you gotta go in there with confidence against a team like the All Blacks. We've beaten them before. It's not beyond the realms of possibility.
We know they're going to bring serious aggression. So I just hope our guys are up for it.

Minorityreports · 18/10/2019 19:34

Our team is a very what I would class as a 'polite' team (Bundee aside). We never really break the rules.
I think tomorrow might be the day for us to break a few rules on the sly
Our ref is my favourite ref ever. He's very fair - Welsh guy.
He'll let no-one away with anything I think so if NZ want to play dirty they'll be hit with penalties.

OooErMissus · 18/10/2019 19:35

I just can't see NZ getting knocked out of a world cup at quarter final stage

It's happened before!!

Minorityreports · 18/10/2019 19:37

It's just that when NZ play, they play like their lives depend on it. That's what I want the Irish side to bring to the field.

Minorityreports · 18/10/2019 19:40

I guess the fitness and prep is all done now. God I hope I can sleep tonight.

Minorityreports · 18/10/2019 19:41

Funny you say the match is on today your time. What in the hell time is it over there?

OooErMissus · 18/10/2019 19:44

I think coverage starts at 11.15pm, with kick-off at 11.45?!

So the game starts 'today' - just! Grin

It is Saturday morning here 🌄

massistar · 18/10/2019 20:35

@Minorityreports Nigel is my favourite ref too. He's ace.

Neutral for Ireland and England and then wales all the way on Sunday here now that Scotland are out!

Horehound · 18/10/2019 20:38

I like Nigel too. Although he did make an error as a linesman on one of the world cup games. Can't remember the teams but he said he was sure the ball touched the line for a try and actually it was being held up by a player's hand. That kind of mistake can cost a team a win!

AlunWynsKnee · 18/10/2019 21:24

If you believe the press Minority you're the only Irish person happy to have our Nigel reffing you.
(I'm a big fan of Nigel :) )
