We were bloody delighted with that. Pearson has been great so was surprised to see you topple the lead. Haven't seen the game looking forward to watching MOTD tomorrow. If the current relegation teams stay there I'd be happy (OK, would rather swap Norwich for Arsenal, who aren't that far ahead, but can't have everything)

SproutMuncher · 01/02/2020 22:24

Thank you Everton for doing us a favour - appalling day for villa but the other results were about as good as we could hope for.

LetsGoFlyAKiteee · 09/02/2020 22:27

Impressed with how well Sheffield are doing. Right up the table

DuncinToffee · 10/02/2020 08:08

Could have done with them losing against Bournemouth but I agree that Sheffield are impressive and deserve where they are.

We won! Not the best match of football but three great goals and 7th in the table.

Crockof · 16/02/2020 13:15

Quiet here, who wants to discuss Man City Shock

DuncinToffee · 16/02/2020 13:33

The race for 5th place is suddenly becoming very interesting.

I don't really understand this FFP, need to read up on it a bit but it is not looking good for Man City. I can't see Pep staying if they lose their appeal.

Crockof · 16/02/2020 15:12

The main issue is that city's owner was actually financing the Etihad sponsorship. So Etihad paid the club 8million but the sponsorship was declared at 64million, with city's owner making up the shortfall which is against the FFP rules.
I think Pep will go and the top players if they don't win their appeal.

DuncinToffee · 16/02/2020 16:21

Ah yes, I have a basic understanding of FFP and what Man City is accused of, it is more the mentioning of how it favours the elite teams ett and how it works for other teams.

This is an interesting article
www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-8005751/Financial-Fair-Play-UEFA-protection-racket-payback-clubs-hate-Manchester-City.html

I don't agree that Man City are the victims in this though.

Oblomov20 · 17/02/2020 21:34

I don't really understand it either. And as a Spurs fan it effects us more than most, so thanks for the link, will now read......

DuncinToffee · 18/02/2020 12:51

In what way does it effect Spurs more than most? Qualification for CL or in money terms?

I know Evertonians are worried about FFP with Usmanov now investing via megafon and usm but it seems to be within the rules. It also makes sense why we desperately need to sell players.

On another note, I can't believe we are now in the run for 4th, who would have thought that a few months back. Not qualifying for Europe now feels like a failure. Argh I can't really deal with this positivity Grin

WhiteHartLane · 18/02/2020 16:40

I don't think it does affect Spurs more than the other teams in the running for 4th/5th. Unless I am missing something.

I still think Leicester and Chelsea will get a CL place but theres no real front runner for the last place. Spurs will struggle with Kane and Son both out injured.

On a lower league note, Gillingham are 6th points away from the play offs atm! Nice change from the relegation scrap they are usually involved in Grin

LetsGoFlyAKiteee · 22/02/2020 14:30

Didnt expect that Spurs win! VAR again though.. no good saying it should've been a red way after the decision had been made!

WhiteHartLane · 22/02/2020 15:58

Spurs were so boring! No get up and go. Offered no threat.

Yes too late after the event to admit mistakes. The reason it was initially not given as a red was because "Le Celso had nowhere else to put his foot" according to the official at Stockley Park. Okay then...

LetsGoFlyAKiteee · 22/02/2020 16:33

Probably been better not to say anything...makes them look silly! Especially 30 mins or so later. Had someone just been studying it that whole time?
The whole system is bonkers.

I still think Spurs will come together. Jose usually know what he is doing wherever that is the case here as well.

DuncinToffee · 22/02/2020 22:48

VAR really hit a new low today, ok not the system but the refs watching the monitors at Stockley Park.
There is no consistency, identical situations are judged differently each game, it's a farce and ruining the game.

WhiteHartLane · 23/02/2020 12:28

Yes Leicester and Bournemouth also affected. One Bournemouth fan on a sports forum I read even went as far as to say he hopes his team go down so he can celebrate goals freely in the Championship! Extreme but true.

I hope so Letsgo, several games left so fingers crossed. Wolves next.

DuncinToffee · 23/02/2020 18:42

Arghhhh sloppy defending and missing clear chances cost us today. Played some lovely football at times and Gomes was class, how we missed him.

We are getting there under Mr Ancelotti

LetsGoFlyAKiteee · 24/02/2020 22:03

Although Liverpool are going to break so many records this season...Chelsea's record of 15 goals conceded all season still stands. Hurrah we keep something lol

WouldShouldCould · 29/02/2020 19:23

What is happening at Watford?? I really don't like Watford cheating fuckers but beating Liverpool 3-0 its either a miracle or match fixing.

LetsGoFlyAKiteee · 29/02/2020 19:25

Blimey didn't see this coming. Teams have come close to taking points off them though. Theyve just seen it out. Except now

WhiteHartLane · 29/02/2020 19:55

I was listening to bits of this match, sounded like Liverpool were running on fumes while Watford were well up for it.
Sadly this result, plus West Ham winning, puts Bournemouth in the bottom 3.

WouldShouldCould · 29/02/2020 20:06

Agree, I'm sad for Bournemouth especially after their half time comeback today.

LetsGoFlyAKiteee · 29/02/2020 20:54

Hopefully Bournemouth can pull it back even if they are a boogy team for us.
Sad to see anyone go down. Especially if they slide and slide after

DuncinToffee · 01/03/2020 16:56

I hate VAR.
Especially with John Moss at the other end, farce Angry

We played quite well the second half and created chances, just need finishing them. UTFT

Ps it looks like big Dunc in charge against Chelsea, not sure if Lampard fancies it

DuncinToffee · 01/03/2020 16:57

And well in Watford!
