There may be something of interest in Sunday's games...

Yes, as a Tottenham fan, sunday games were pretty good......

WestleyAndButtockUp · 15/01/2018 11:48

Ditto this week.

LunarGirl · 06/02/2018 05:38

So after becoming increasingly frustrated (from about the 5th minute) of last nights match I turned it off in a huff at 85 minutes when we went 2-1 down. Woke up this morning to see we'd been absolutely annihilated. It's embarrassing to watch and reminding me way too much of the mourinho season where players obviously had a problem with him and basically downed tools until he was sacked.

I really hope this doesn't happen again. Whilst Conte's selections haven't necessarily been what I would call smart, let's face it... He hasn't got much to work with. Not if they are performing like that.

I think we should have kept Michy, or at least start with a bloody striker!

What do we all think, Conte in or out? I'd personally like him to stay and the team to, i dunno, do their jobs. But I'm not naive and I've seen many mangers come and go, it's Roman's favourite thing to do, it seems. Something needs to change though. Jesus, we have Barca in a couple of weeks.

WhiteHartLane · 06/02/2018 17:12

Spurs fan but I do think Conte is a decent manager. They are operating on a small squad currently and I personally don't think Giroud is as good a player as Batshuyi although he has goals in him. Getting rid of Costa was a bad move imo.

I would say Conte in. Chelsea are still in with a good chance of top 4 and have the FA cup to play for. Can see them getting thumped by Barca though (sorry).

LunarGirl · 07/02/2018 19:17

Ha no need to apologise, I can see that also.

Couldn't decide whether to watch Chelsea development team in the EFL Cup last night or the Swansea match. DH chose EFL thinking the Swansea match would be boring. So I yet again got to see a Chelsea side lose and missed out on a 9 goal match! To be fair, I much prefer watching our youth at the moment. Perhaps Conte should drop all the senior players for a match and let the youth show them how it's done Grin

Looking forward to tonight's match. As always, rooting for the underdog but I should imagine this'll be an easy win for Spurs.

WhiteHartLane · 08/02/2018 17:33

Well Chelsea may suprise. I remember them beating Barca in a CL final (think it was 2012) against all the odds - cost Spurs the last CL place in the process lol.

Strange game last night, Newport didn't look like scoring which was a relief, however Spurs were very wasteful infront of goal. Happy to be through although seeing how the 1st Newport game went I was hoping for a home draw this time!

WestleyAndButtockUp · 08/02/2018 22:00

All the Spurs fans looking forward to the North London Derby saturday lunchtime?

Arsenal have improved our forward line, but not addressed the more pressing problems of our midfield, defence and goalie, so Harry Kane should be able to stroll on through.

WestleyAndButtockUp · 10/02/2018 15:18

Just as predicted.

WhiteHartLane · 10/02/2018 15:41

Excellent result, well played Spurs. Think Wenger needs to concentrate on Europa League and try and get a CL place that way.

Sandsnake · 10/02/2018 15:53
  1. Bournemouth (from well before the PL days!)
  2. England (with a certain amount of self-loathing)
  3. Hate: MK Dons, Dislike: Watford, Leeds, Millwall, Liverpool (though I’d never want anything genuinely bad to happen to the ‘dislike’ clubs)
  4. By having his Bournemouth mad Grandpa do a day’s childcare per week. He can already say ‘up the Cherries’. This in direct contravention to mine and DH’s strict ‘no football indoctrination’ policy but I don’t really care Wink
  5. I’m late to this so City winning the title is a formality. Relegation could be anyone from 8th / 9th down. I think that we’re better than at least three other teams so should avoid the drop. If Chelsea play anything like they did against us then they will miss out on top four. Arsenal will be 5th / 6th.

Welcome Sandsnake and Westley.

Conte cannot have long. He's clashing with Chelsea's hierarchy and that never ends well. Don't Chelsea always fire their manager the season after winning something?

  1. Which team you support - I'm a Rangers fan 1st and foremost but I do have a liking for Spurs.
  2. Which country you support, or will be supporting in the World Cup - I'm hoping Belgium do well.
  3. Which team(s) and/or countries you loathe - Would have to be Celtic & England, with a little Arsenal thrown in
  4. How you are getting your kids to follow the correct team - Both kid are Gers fans because most of the family are. Unfortunately DD is a Newcastle fan like OH
  5. A thought on this season (Premiership/Championship/Champions’ League/FA Cup/World Cup/all leagues world wide.) Leagues are over in terms of champions but hoping Rangers can get 2nd and Spurs at least 3rd. Hoping Spurs do well on Tuesday and can progress in CL and hoping Rangers can win the Scottish Cup
ToffeeUp · 12/02/2018 11:49

Late to the party but here you go

  1. Everton
  2. England and Iceland as my country Holland is failing miserably
  3. Liverpool, Man U, Ajax
  4. Bought DS an Everton kit when he started playing footie in after school club and despite living in Surrey he became a toffee instantly (DH is from Liverpool and from a blue family) We are born not manufactured Wink
5.Everton, we are hurting and the end of the season can't come quick enough. PL, money buys trophies and I worry about the youth development. Starting to think a super league might not be such a bad idea.

Welcome, BrieMode and ToffeeUp.

This place is infested with Spurs fans.

ToffeeUp what do you mean about a SuperLeague? Do you mean European, instead of the Champs' League? How would that solve Everton's problems?

OP posts:
ToffeeUp · 12/02/2018 12:23

I mean the European Super League idea that has been going around now for quite a while. It would mean that the rest of the clubs can get on with playing football on a more or less level playing field and we can stop having to listen to managers complaining about tackles etc.

It won't resolve Everton's problems, no

BrieMode · 12/02/2018 12:50

The super league taking the top certain teams from the so many European leagues and putting them in their own league. This would then give lower teams in the league a chance to win trophies.

It’s for all the wealthy teams tbh.

ToffeeUp · 18/02/2018 16:14

A bit of FA cup magic today. I am not expecting an upset but go Rochdale!

Do people here also follow their women and youth teams?

LunarGirl · 18/02/2018 17:07

Don't speak too soon Toffee you never know! And yes, go Rochdale!

Yes to following youth and women's. The women's team have just moved to Kingsmeadow which is down the road and youth should be moving there in the next year or two so hoping that'll make it easier to go to more matches with the DC. DS has only ever been to two football matches, neither of which were Chelsea Grin First was AFC Wimbledon when they got promoted to league One and an England match. So he's only experienced Wembley so far!

ToffeeUp · 18/02/2018 18:02

Yes Rochdale!

Chelsea u23 play their home matches just up the road from us but we always seem to be busy when Everton u23 visit.

We try to visit Goodison when visiting family.

BelfastBloke · 18/02/2018 19:58

I wouldn't say I follow women's and youth teams, but I've taken my kids to both, a few times.
