You happy with Evertons new Manager Toffee? I like Silva, he was unlucky with Hull and had Watford playing well 1st part of the season til Everton showed an interest. Good luck to him.

ToffeeUp · 31/05/2018 20:40

Yes I am happy. He will need time but along with the appointment of Marcel Brands and the boardroom changes it is a possitive step forward. NSNO

BelfastBloke · 01/06/2018 09:58

Arsene Wenger and Pochettino are the two front runners to replace Zidane at Real Madrid.

I wish the former well, and if the latter, it would undoubtedly weaken one of Arsenal's rivals.

ToffeeUp · 01/06/2018 13:06

LOL Belfast.
Pochettino has just signed a new contract, he won't be cheap. Straight swap with Zidane maybe...... Klopp has been mentioned as well.

WhiteHartLane · 01/06/2018 14:41

Zidane is a free agent so Real would still have to pay massively for Poch. However if Real want him badly enough they would pay. I am hoping the new contract he has signed with Spurs is enough to keep him but it is Real Madrid we are talking about lol.

BelfastBloke · 01/06/2018 20:13

Exactly. When one sits down and compares the money available at both clubs (for him and for his players) it gives one pause, dunnit?

My mate’s at Wembley with his son in the sunshine.

Sterling looking good, even though he’s been attacked in the press a lot this week.

Very pleased that Jordan Pickford will be wearing the No1 jersey.

And if it goes wrong, he can always blame it on concussion Wink

In the thread about the Beckham’s marriage someone wrote, "I'm not sure he actually has a current career. What does he put on his passport, 'retired footballer'?"

I’ve heard this type of comment all the time about Beckham. But he’s the owner of Miami FC which has finally become a Major League Soccer franchise in the USA. That’s got to be a huge part of what he does, surely, even if other people are doing the business part of it?

I mean, even if he’s just the ‘face’ of the franchise, this start-up period has to be a really busy time?

OP posts:
ToffeeUp · 09/06/2018 13:36

You would assume so, he has a lot to lose if it goes wrong. I can't imagine him buying a club just as a little hobby without much involvement. I think he is quite shrewd when it comes to business. But then MN has the tendency to look down on footballers and football in general.

England u21 is taking on Mexico in the Toulon final later today. Arsenal's Nketiah has been impressive in this tournament.

BelfastBloke · 09/06/2018 20:03

Oh, yes, you're right about Eddie. And England won.

Beckham's Miami venture has taken ages to get off the ground. As I understand it, MLS teams now have to have a soccer-specific stadium. His first choice of venue was derailed by the Mob, his second choice was derailed by politicians, and the third and final venue is in a really dodgy part of town and is not universally welcomed.

OP posts:
ToffeeUp · 10/06/2018 10:28

I don't know anything about the MLS but wikipedia backs your information. He didn't take the easy route when buying Miami FC but I am not sure he knew it was going to be that hard to get ground for a stadium. No prime water front location but ground owned by a sewer company.

You bet your username truly gave you away.
Lol

  1. Manchester United
  2. England
  3. I loathe Belgium
  4. You have to let them know about how passionate you are with your team.
LetsGoFlyAKiteee · 10/06/2018 13:24
  1. Chelsea
  2. England... Expecting the same lol. Though also looking out for Belgium
  3. Man U.. Spurs.. Liverpool..
  4. Haven't any yet.. But my mums side of the family are all Chelsea so they'll be lots of influences lol
  5. Glad we won a trophy!
Not expecting much from England. Though hopefully it won't be like last time in Euros when we drew Iceland and a lot of people seemed to think we'd won that game before it started... Didn't go well!
BelfastBloke · 10/06/2018 18:12

Welcome even if you support Man U and Chelsea.

Anyone watching this Soccer Aid match tonight, for charidee? Usain Bolt, 31, says he’s serious about becoming a professional footballer, so it’ll be interesting to see how he plays.

  1. Soton
  2. Probably Germany as the rest of the house are Welsh and there is some ancient German blood way back in the time line 😃
  3. P*rtsmouth
  4. No idea as eldest supports a team that we beat in the 76 FA cup- still waiting for the next trophy 😂
  5. Alex McCarthy should have been in the England squad
BelfastBloke · 12/06/2018 07:34

On another thread, the OP was moaning about how pervasive all the World Cup buildup was/is.

But round here I’ve seen almost nothing. Sports shops have England gear, and maybe a supermarket display, but that’s it.

Does your area have loads of WC stuff about?

OP posts:
ToffeeUp · 12/06/2018 08:32

No it is all quite muted around here, most shops have some shirts on display and a small end of aisle bit with England keyrings, cups etc

We stiil have our vuvuzela's Smile

CardinalSin · 12/06/2018 09:29

Anyone running a World Cup Dream Team league?

I can start one if there's any interest.

MiltonRoad · 12/06/2018 09:59

We got some vuvuzelas from Poundland which is closing down here - (25p each 😄, only to be used if there is a match on ) seen quite a few bits in Lidl but not much else

BelfastBloke · 12/06/2018 13:09

What will be the Russian version of vuvuzelas?

OP posts:
CardinalSin · 12/06/2018 14:58
