As in previous years, footy fans please sign in with

  1. Which team you support.
  2. Which country you support, or will be supporting in the World Cup.
  3. Which team(s) and/or countries you loathe.
  4. How you are getting your kids to follow the correct team.
  5. A thought on this season (Premiership/Championship/Champions’ League/FA Cup/World Cup/all leagues world wide.)

I'm supporting Spain as I have them in a sweepstake. And they are a good team. YAY to Mexico though!

Prokupatuscrakedatus · 17/06/2018 18:43

Oh, I forgot

1 - Dortmund
2 - Germany or The Netherlands
3 - none
4 - they are not interested in football, they take after their DF
5 - ah well, ...

Lweji · 17/06/2018 19:05

Ups. I forgot most questions when I signed in.

  1. In the UK, Arsenal.
  2. Portugal.
  3. Nobody, really, but our rivals are always Spain.
  4. It's a war I've already lost.
  5. It's not going that well for Germany. Grin
ToffeeUp · 17/06/2018 19:21

Fantastic goal from Couthino. Brazil look dangerous.

Lweji · 17/06/2018 19:25

It seems that this coach has managed to bring them back from the pit of despair of the last World Cup.
Let's hope they don't lose the plot at any point.

Lweji · 17/06/2018 20:04

Can I just say that I love Marcelo? He's just like a fluffy teddy bear.

BelfastBloke · 18/06/2018 10:28

Two Arsenal players in the Swiss team last night. Bodes well...

But I doubt Danny Welbeck will get on for England tonight. Despite his excellent scoring record for England.

Still not seen any England shirts or flags, even today.

Saw a couple of discreet England stickers on cars in supermarket car park just now.

I am an armchair fan and then only watch international games on tv.
So World Cup and European championship.
I usually support England and Germany.
(Mexico were great btw!).
On occasions the family will sit and watch a match together.
DH can't fathom why at moments of extreme tension I walk out of the room. Grin
I can cheer on a side yet detest individual players.
I was gutted Italy did not qualify this time.
For years I kept saying Spain are the dark horses, you'll see! and eventually they did start winning.
'New' teams like Iceland are exciting.
I got Poland in a sweep so see how they do later this week.

CardinalSin · 18/06/2018 12:33

I thought Xhaka had a pretty good game yesterday. Hopefully Dick Emery can set things up to harness his skills.

LinoleumBlownapart · 18/06/2018 15:27
  1. In the UK Chelsea, in Brazil Clube Atletico Mineiro
  2. England first, Brazil for DH and Sweden for my dad .
  3. I don't loathe any, but DH loathes Argentina like a true Brazilian.
  4. My kids come to their own decisions, I try not to influence them. They are rooting for both England and Brazil but they've been in England shirts mostly.
  5. I have no thoughts, I don't know a lot about football to be fair I'm a bit new to all this.
Lweji · 18/06/2018 15:28

Anyone watched Sweden? How were they?

ToffeeUp · 18/06/2018 16:01

I didn't watch it, only just made it back on time for Panama v Belgium. Roman Torres looked quite emotional there.

Liesmyparentstoldme · 18/06/2018 17:13
  1. None 2)England, then Spain. 3)Portugal, I just hate Ronaldo, think he's arrogant, shows bad sportsmanship. But I admit he's a really good player.
  2. They're still abit young.
  3. I thought Iceland did really well holding off Argentina. Their defence was solid and their goalie was on fire!

Some funny comments about Mark Lawrenson

ToffeeUp · 18/06/2018 17:57

Englan team news is in, Welbeck and Rashford on the bench.

BelfastBloke · 18/06/2018 18:01

ITV won the battle of the Nevilles, didn’t it? (BBC have Phil, ITV have Gary).

Is that because they lost the battle of the Dimblebys? (BBC have David, ITV have Jonathan).

Liesmyparentstoldme · 18/06/2018 20:00

Agree. If that was a penalty. I don't know how Harry Kane didn't get one given.

BelfastBloke · 18/06/2018 20:23

Playing against 12 men

OP posts:
BelfastBloke · 18/06/2018 20:47

The Russian TV has agendas. All the shots of the crowd are of low-cut tops on beautiful women.

All the shots of the flies and midges are around black England players.

OP posts:
ToffeeUp · 18/06/2018 20:56

Phew
A win is a win but it was hard work.

ToffeeUp · 18/06/2018 20:58

Yes, we noticed the Russian tv angles as well

Liesmyparentstoldme · 18/06/2018 21:16

So pleased we win though. It should of been by more.
