In the spirit of previous rolling Football threads, would posters sign in with:

  1. What country/countries you support
  2. What country teams you particularly dislike (Euro or world)?
  3. What things your family are doing to get your kids excited about the Euro 2016 tournament?
  4. A comment about a player or two, or an issue or two.

DH and DD bit deflated now. Enjoyed the game more than the England one. Nice to see the fans mixed together and some wearing each other's scarves and tops.

BelfastBloke · 13/06/2016 20:16

Yes nice to see fans mixing. Apparently Poland and Norn Ireland fans joined forces when they were being attacked by French locals.

Yep , having a laugh together before that . DH said they probably all work together in Moy Park Grin

n0ne · 13/06/2016 20:48
  1. England and Belgium as the Netherlands didn't qualify (DH is Dutch and we live there), but I have a soft spot for NI, Ireland, Wales, Scotland and Sweden
  2. Portugal. Can't abide them or Ronaldo
  3. DD is only 3 so bit early for that
  4. Quite like the spunky new England side, much more interesting to watch than the old guard
BelfastBloke · 13/06/2016 21:20

Yes, but Woy shouldn't still be buggering about with the side. He's had plenty of time to integrate Rooney as a midfielder if that's what he was going to do. Play people in their proper positions! That's what Lothar Matteus was saying on BBC today.

Watching Italy right now, and Spain and Germany earlier, makes you realise how teams will always beat individuals.

The Swede God to Man U is only delayed as him and his agent get a bonus after 30 June if he doesn't sign before then.
It looks like Arse have been played for Vardy to get a max deal from The foxes.

ClashCityRocker · 13/06/2016 21:42

I did wonder if Vardy was hoping that a shit-hot tournament would lead to higher offers - think it might come back to bite him on the bum though.

Enjoyed the Ireland game, shame about that OG, feel gutted for the lad as thought Ireland deserved the three points. Mind you, that's the game I suppose.

As Dh keeps reminding me, you get points for scoring more goals than the opposition, not playing well!

Orangetoffee · 15/06/2016 07:58

Iceland Grin

ThisPanCan · 15/06/2016 11:12

I organised the office sweep and set aside £6 for the nation that is the worst in the tournament....the person who pulled Iceland felt really let down this morning. Grin

BelfastBloke · 15/06/2016 12:28

Several MN threads full of outraged mums that their schools might contemplate showing the England Wales match at 2pm tomorrow.

OP posts:
Lweji · 15/06/2016 12:34

I was once in a congress in Brazil and they stopped it all to show a Brazilian match.

At my previous research institute they used to show all the matches in the bar too.

Just let the children watch the game.

Lweji · 15/06/2016 12:35

Also: Iceland Angry
But I'm glad Portugal managed not to lose the game. Just.

ThisPanCan · 15/06/2016 12:49

In Euro 2012 we turned up at a holiday resort in Turkey late at night...when Turkey were playing. We had to sit outside in the warm air whilst the key holder was inside a bar "supporting" his country. We didn't mind at all - "getting to appreciate the local cultures" Grin

GrimmauldPlace · 15/06/2016 13:15

Does any one else think Ronaldo is making himself look like a fool with his comments over Iceland? I used to be a fan of his but he is acting so childish. Yes, Iceland spent most of the match defending England could learn a thing or two but if he's as bloody amazing as he reckons he is then getting through little old Icelands defence should have been easy.

Oh and Grin to the outrage over the match being shown in schools. I've found it all rather amusing.

Lweji · 15/06/2016 13:21

It wasn't so much that they couldn't score, but that they let Iceland get dangerously close to theit goal.

ThisPanCan · 15/06/2016 14:02

Ronnie is a darling. He can't be taken too seriously - world's best footballer but pouts like a disgruntled 7 yo.

GrimmauldPlace · 15/06/2016 14:15

pouts like a disgruntled 7 yo

Grin This is true.

Orangetoffee · 15/06/2016 16:54

Disgruntled and pouty whilst whinging "It's not fair" Smile

DS' school is showing the match tomorrow, he is happy as otherwise he would only be watching the last 15 minutes.

EPL fixture list out today as well.

ClashCityRocker · 15/06/2016 19:36

All the knicker twisting at the school's showing it is amusing.

It's like they expect there little darlings to come home with a British bulldog tattoo and a lifetime membership of the BNP fro, watching one single football match....

But Iceland Shock

It's been an odd sort of tournament so far.

Got tomorrow off anyway, although they're showing the game at work...can't cope with watching it with the senior partners!

ClashCityRocker · 15/06/2016 19:36

*their

Being a football fan has obviously had a detrimental effect on my grammar.

emotionsecho · 15/06/2016 21:21

Got a bit of a mixed bag in our family sweepstake which is fun. As I've got Spain and Germany I'm supporting them.
Would have said I've no particular dislike for any teams but have started to dislike Russia not just due the behaviour of the followers but because of the way the Team and Russian Football Federation have carried on.

I'm enjoying the France v Albania game, I'm rooting for little old Albania to pull off a shock victoryGrin.

emotionsecho · 15/06/2016 21:59

Oh poor Albania Sad

BadLad · 15/06/2016 23:25

First thing I'm doing today is going to YouTube to find and chuckle at Joachim Low's scratch and sniff.

ThisPanCan · 16/06/2016 09:32

That's nice.

BelfastBloke · 16/06/2016 10:36

It's not nice. But here it is.
