In the spirit of previous rolling Football threads, would posters sign in with:

  1. What country/countries you support
  2. What country teams you particularly dislike (Euro or world)?
  3. What things your family are doing to get your kids excited about the Euro 2016 tournament?
  4. A comment about a player or two, or an issue or two.

Bookies have probs. stopped taking bets on Dele Alli getting sent off.

Rasford will play when either England are coasting to a victory and he sees the last 10 mins.

Or England are being put the Spanish matador's sword and they are desperate.

Not sure which is most likely.Grin

ClashCityRocker · 11/06/2016 11:12

Going with the latter there pan!

Nonetheless, we are having an epic buffet tea tonight whilst watching the England game. kinda like a party but with only me and Dh.

I need to get out more.

Orangetoffee · 11/06/2016 16:48

Orangetoffee · 11/06/2016 20:25

Really enjoyed watching Wales, they played as a team and not as 'just get the ball to Bale'.

KenDoddsDadsDog · 11/06/2016 20:49

Wales game was good.

DanFmDorking · 11/06/2016 21:28

Yes! 1-0!

DanFmDorking · 11/06/2016 21:45
  1. England
  2. Cheaters
  3. Watching t' telly.
  4. My prediction is that Ukraine will be knocked out in the group stage but then come back to win the championships on the phone vote.

Hello again BelfastChap,

My mate’s won 2 tickets for the final of Euro 2016 but he forgot that it's on the same day as his wedding so he can't go.
If you are interested and want to go instead ...
... it's at St. Nicholas' Church, Brighton and she's called Jane.

ok … ok … you’ve heard it before

KenDoddsDadsDog · 11/06/2016 21:46

FUCK

BelfastBloke · 11/06/2016 22:54

I haven't heard it before, actually. What's the punchline?

We hosted a fantastic party for the Wales and England games, but with people who were only mildly interested in footy, and didn't know much about it. Good party, but I missed a lot of the games, making drinks.

  1. Republic of ireland
  2. England
  3. No need to do anything but doing pools, teenagers.
  4. English and Russian 'fans'... Why? Albania, my second favourite team after yesterday
FixItUpChappie · 12/06/2016 06:18

I'm not European but am watching with rapt attention from Canada

Rooting for Wales....am interested in England due to all the drama over their line-up and I now have a soft spot for Romania who had a lot of underdog heart in their opener.

Like Spain too - possibly because I have a weird crush on Tom Hardy look-a-like Sergio Ramos BlushGrin

BestIsWest · 12/06/2016 09:13

I'm Welsh so really pleased with yesterday. Would also like to see England do well although obviously I would prefer Wales to win.

I also have Northern Ireland in the office sweep so will be supporting them and have a soft spot for Portugal.

ClashCityRocker · 12/06/2016 09:48

Well done to Wales! Pleased to see them win.

I thought England played well last night; Kane didn't have a good game and too many times there were excellent crosses across the goal that should have been tapped in - I admit I may have been shouting at the screen 'just bring fucking Vardy on, ffs!'

Lalana (sp?) and Alli had an excellent game. So frustrating, we could have been four of five goals up if we had the finishing. You'd have thought with the twelve hundred strikers we've bought we'd have found the back of the net a few more times. Thought Rooney also played well and not sure why he was bought off. He's so effective playing deeper.

I don't think Woy read the game well.

Still, I don't think I'm being biased by saying we were by far the better team for much of the game.

Looking forward to the slavakia game - although I can see Alli getting sent off in five minutes...

BelfastBloke · 12/06/2016 09:54

Of course, before the Slovakia game there's the small matter of England vs Wales 2pm Thursday.

Will much work get done in Britain on Thursday?

ClashCityRocker · 12/06/2016 10:36

Oh I'm not looking forward to that one - I'm worried they'll beat us Grin

Got the afternoon off for it anyway.

Orangetoffee · 12/06/2016 10:44

England played well. Woy shouldn't have taken off Rooney, he was one of the best players on the field (and I am not a Rooney fan). Kane was bad, his corner kicks were awful and Sterling has pace but that's all. Vardy would have been a perfect sub for this match.

ThisPanCan · 12/06/2016 11:22

Kane played like a predictable Championship-level centre forward. Russians must have been thinking "Sergei! THIS is the feared marksman? Get the meerkats on."
England just didn't seem prepared to attack the ball in the box - too much standing on heels rather than on balls of feet.

Has Woy explained ever why The Citizen is taking corner kicks?

BelfastBloke · 12/06/2016 20:28

Poland and Arsenal and Roma goalie Szczesny was untroubled by the Norn Ireland attack today.

OP posts:
BelfastBloke · 12/06/2016 20:30

Talking of goalies, Neuer is being very impressive for Germany right now.

DanFmDorking · 12/06/2016 21:29

England are like a McDonalds meal.
One looks forward to it but afterwards, you remember why you never go.

In football, I support Germany for the glory and England for the despair.

What's the difference between England and a teabag?...
A teabag stays in the cup for longer.

KenDoddsDadsDog · 13/06/2016 17:26
Shamrock
BelfastBloke · 13/06/2016 17:49

Decent first half for Ireland

BelfastBloke · 13/06/2016 17:51

Can't help thinking that Ibrahmovic to Man U and Vardy to Arsenal -- they might regret not getting their signings completed before the tournament. These clubs may go off them.

OP posts:
Taytocrisps · 13/06/2016 19:18

A pity about Sweden's goal but a better result than I anticipated Shamrock
