BelfastBloke's Rolling Footie Thread 2013-14 Season

The rolling Football thread for Season '13-14 might as well start off in the traditional way with the same intro as did the original rolling Football thread all those seasons ago. But with the new tradition of leaving the musty changing room of Dadsnet...
We've been top heavy with premiership stuff but it's really for any footie played on the planet and beyond.

Footie fans please sign in with

1.Which team you support.
2.Which team(s) you loathe.
3.How you are getting your kids to follow the correct team.

  1. A thought on the season (Premiership/Championship/Champions? League/FA Cup/League Cup/all leagues world wide.)

I had hopes! Talk of Arse lifting anything is a bit risible isn't it? I haven't seen any game with Oooozil, but it will only be time before teams have him marked out of the game, even on a rota basis. A coach of mine used to say to us "if he goes off for a poo, go with him and wipe his bottom for him. He's yours." Grin

is Ozil the type to be easily roughed up? I recall attempts to 'rough up' Ronaldo at first, but at 6 foot 2 or 3 and built the way he is it didn't last really. I'd think Ozil isn't that sort of player though.

Ozil is 'only' 5' 11" .

Same height as me then. I was stood beside Rio F once, and felt he was towering over me!

Hi, BlondieHouse is full of Hammers. BlondieDH, BlondieDF and BlondieFIL all Hammers.

I am converted, and DD is already onto her second Hammers kit aged 15mo :D

We don't mind seeing the big 4 (ManU, Chelsea, Arsenal and Tottenham) lose, especially to us!

And we'd like to finish in that top 4 this year.

P.S We love Big Sam :D

A couple of years ago, our local footy academy (who are not Premier by any means!) got rid of all their players who were under 6'.

I was surprised that Stevie G is 6', I think he looks shorter than that. Mind you, I saw him once in a very smart suit and he looked very long and lean. Smile

Would it surprise you to know that Thierry Henry is quite a bit taller than Sol Campbell?

Now IS the time to raise our heads up!

I saw Stevie G in a swanky M/c restaurant a few years ago with a leggy blonde woman, just them two. I said to friend at our table - look there's SG with wife. She looks over and says 'That's him. But that isn't his wife'.Shock

All right Horsemad, I may have overstated how much taller Henry is than Sol Campbell. But here is a photo showing that he is taller.

Yeah, good pic, Pan.

The Premiership is so competitive and erratic this season that I suspect there might be significant spending in the January transfer window.

blondiedollface have to agree about the love for Big Sam at West Ham. My DH is a Hammer and against my better judgement I bought him a ticket for his birthday last year. Just the one ticket mind as the rest of us at home support Man U Grin
Anyway, ever since I have been treated to a weekly update via email of West Ham News and most of it bless their cotton socks praises Big Sam to the heavens.
I can't bring myself to mail them back and say "this is all lovely, but actually ....." So I just forward DH the mails and then delete Smile

So after we were internationally interrupted, back to proper business. BIG midlands' giants clash - Coventry away to Wolves. And Belgium v Southampton.

Euro qualification might be gone by Christmas though...at least we're above Hull.
But Coventry got an away point at Wolves, swiftly changing the subject.Grin
