The rolling Football thread for Season '13-14 might as well start off in the traditional way with the same intro as did the original rolling Football thread all those seasons ago. But with the new tradition of leaving the musty changing room of Dadsnet...
We've been top heavy with premiership stuff but it's really for any footie played on the planet and beyond.

Footie fans please sign in with

1.Which team you support.
2.Which team(s) you loathe.
3.How you are getting your kids to follow the correct team.

  1. A thought on the season (Premiership/Championship/Champions? League/FA Cup/League Cup/all leagues world wide.)

DH said Rooney was the only Red that turned up - he and DS1 got home after the match hoarse and exhausted.

Kompany was impressive - we really miss him when he is out.

Toure is a City legend.

DanFmDorking · 23/09/2013 21:10

DH said Rooney was the only Red that turned up

I've always thought Manchester United are a one man team.
Unfortunately he retired last season.

BelfastBloke · 24/09/2013 07:18

I took a Man Utd mate to his first game at Ashburton Grove.

He was having a really good day until we went into an Arsenal pub and watched the Manchester Derby.

Horsemad · 24/09/2013 14:17

Looking forward to tomorrow's match v Man U - Suarez is allowed back after his ban. Smile

weregonnaneedasmallerPan · 24/09/2013 19:23

BB Shock What manner of heretical lunacy led a ManUer to allow you to take him up the Arse?
Madness I tell you.

BelfastBloke · 24/09/2013 23:43

Man U mates - everyone's got at least one. You just have to negotiate the situation as best you can.

DanFmDorking · 25/09/2013 22:45

Phew! - Chelsea next
I’m exhausted just listening to Radio 5 live extra added additional superfluous, they were going hoarse.

mankyscotslass · 30/09/2013 06:10

Oh dear. We need to drop Joe Hart for a while, he is too complacent.

Pan · 30/09/2013 20:58

Getting to know what it's like to be 'ordinary'.

Won't last though.Smile

DanFmDorking · 01/10/2013 14:32

Man U have dropped 'The Red Devils' nickname, they'll now be known as 'The Port Talbot'.
Because they're between Cardiff and Swansea.

Horsemad · 01/10/2013 15:32

Grin Grin Grin

mankyscotslass · 01/10/2013 22:03

mankyscotslass · 01/10/2013 22:05

I have to say though,, City are u convincing too

BelfastBloke · 02/10/2013 14:16

I started singing "Ozil to the Ars-e-nal" last night, Dan. Couldn't tell if people already knew it or not, but thousands joined in quite quickly.

Horsemad · 02/10/2013 14:36

Everytime I hear his name I hear that chant in my head!

DanFmDorking · 02/10/2013 17:38

BB brilliant Grin

Pan · 05/10/2013 17:21

another 3pts for the mighty Sky Blues - an away win at Stevenage.

Horsemad · 05/10/2013 18:22

Pan · 05/10/2013 18:24

0-1 down at managerless, bottom of the table Black Cats....it can't get worse, can it?

OP posts:
Horsemad · 05/10/2013 18:44

Pan, have you given up Strictly? They were asking after you last week.

Pan · 05/10/2013 19:15

that makes my sequins twinkleHorsemad.

it's just a time thing. And dd is now an X-factor queen. So, dd v Aliona has only one winner!

2-1. Phew.

OP posts:
Horsemad · 05/10/2013 20:00

Pan you have to google Sophie Ellis Bextor's Charleston from tonight's show. A-maz-ing.

Oh, and brainwash DD to be a Strictly fan! Smile

80sbabe · 06/10/2013 00:02

Only just come across this thread, so I am seriously late joining in - but what the heck ? I think I will anyway Smile
1.Which team you support. Man Utd - been a Red all my life like most of my family. I have a distant cousin who supports Citeh but we don't talk about him Grin
2.Which team(s) you loathe. Citeh (obviously); Not so keen on Chelsea, Leeds or Liverpool either.
3.How you are getting your kids to follow the correct team. Well they don't get fed if they don't swear allegiance to The Theatre of Dreams Grin. Seriously though, in our house I support Man U and DH is a Hammer - it's not a difficult decision to choose between them is it ? Four DC and DH hasn't got a single comrade yet - can't imagine why that would be ?Hmm My eldest DS has a Man U season ticket and attends every home game.
4. A thought on the season (Premiership/Championship/Champions’ League/FA Cup/League Cup/all leagues world wide Started off a bit worried - now very worried. The loss of SAF and David Gill at the same time has hit hard. Think we will finish top 4 eventually but it's not going to be pretty!

Glad we scraped a win today at Sunderland but it really was by the skin of our teeth. Thank heaven for Januzaj as RVP seems to have lost his mojo.

Pan · 06/10/2013 08:57

Just 'wow' eh Horsemad? it's on youtube - her kicks toward the end got slightly sloppy as she tired, but just 'wow' - thank you. dd's egalitarian view is that X-F is about 'ordinary people doing their very best - SCD is for overpaid celebrities'. and she's really stubborn. don't know where that comes from....

80sbabe - I cheer you into the stadium! I'm fearing from a coaching pov. It looks like no-one wants to take responsibility for anything and the defence are looking at each other rather than sorting stuff out. Nani accompanied their player back into our box rather than actually tackling him, and overall they seem to have forgotten what give-and-go means. It's 'give-and-stand-still-and-wait-for-someone-else-to-offer'.

But Belgium appears to be quite nice! He was a star on the tour. Let's not let him be another Paul Pogba.

Horsemad · 06/10/2013 19:17

Wow indeed Pan! Smile Your DD has the right idea, well done to her for sticking to her guns.

Back to footy talk - I wish Arsenal had lost today!
