BelfastBloke's Rolling Footie Thread 2013-14 Season

Pan · 17/08/2013 12:04

The rolling Football thread for Season '13-14 might as well start off in the traditional way with the same intro as did the original rolling Football thread all those seasons ago. But with the new tradition of leaving the musty changing room of Dadsnet...
We've been top heavy with premiership stuff but it's really for any footie played on the planet and beyond.

Footie fans please sign in with

1.Which team you support.
2.Which team(s) you loathe.
3.How you are getting your kids to follow the correct team.

  1. A thought on the season (Premiership/Championship/Champions? League/FA Cup/League Cup/all leagues world wide.)

That shouldn't really happen. Ever.

Very unsettling for the poor passengers.

BitOutOfPractice · 27/11/2013 19:53

Hello! Wolves top of the league back fan here.

Am I allowed to join in - League One didn't seem to be mentioned in the OP

BitOutOfPractice · 27/11/2013 19:57

1.Which team you support - Wolverhampton Wanderers. SEcond team is Spurs as I was married to a Spurs fan and have been at WHL too man freezing February Tuesdays to quite give them up
2.Which team(s) you loathe - West Bromwich Albion, closely followed by the Arse. A fixture between these two is known in this house as Battle of the Shits
3.How you are getting your kids to follow the correct team - My DDs are not really into footie unfortunatley but they have been taught, from babies, to cheer the Wolves and Spurs and boo the Tescos and the Red Scum Wink

  1. A thought on the season (Premiership/Championship/Champions’ League/FA Cup/League Cup/all leagues world wide.). TBH I've lost interest in the Premiership a bit. Though it does seem more open this year. I've been concentrating on League One
80sbabe · 27/11/2013 22:05

Well the near miss really unsettled the Man Utd players didn't it ?
Bless their cotton socks they only scraped a 0-5 away win Grin
Is that our biggest away win in the Champions League ?

Pan · 27/11/2013 22:16

Crumbs, another Wolves fan! Welcome Bit - La Liga 1 is def where it's at, apparently. Cov were stuffed 0-3 last night by Rotherham. Bubble evaporating rapidly.

yes biggest away win. The 7-1 devouring of AS Roma was the biggest home win in the modern era as they say, I think. YOY is Schmeichel paid to be an observer and summariser?

Enjoying Spurs v Man Utd on my iPhone, on an intermittent wi-fi connection in a soft play centre.

I could've been watching on big-screen HD, but the wife wanted to spread presents and wrapping paper all over our lounge.

Good game.

Pan · 01/12/2013 17:35

and a tasty last 30 mins at the Bridge.

Shit, twat face has scored.

Crap result for Liverpool. Sad Didn't see the match, so will have to watch MOTD later.

LuisGarcia · 04/12/2013 00:51

1.Which team you support.

Liverpool. A subtle clue is in my user name. (In my defence a variant of this had been my internet name for years and it gradually mutated to this as it was what people were starting to call me anyway)

2.Which team(s) you loathe.

I don't loathe any. I don't mind seeing Man U struggle, but I am aware Liverpool and Liverpool fans are not in any position to call any other bitey racist strikers teams loathsome.

3.How you are getting your kids to follow the correct team.

Brainwashing, relentless emotional propaganda, same as everyone else.

  1. A thought on the season (Premiership/Championship/Champions’ League/FA Cup/League Cup/all leagues world wide.)

Interesting one. Can't help but feel the Premiership table is currently lying, particularly about us. I suspect Chelsea, Arsenal and City will be top three, City to win (Out of those 3 I'd prefer Arsenal, though), leaving us, Everton, Southampton and Spurs fighting for 4th.

Off to read the history of the thread.

Horsemad · 04/12/2013 08:41

Welcome LuisGarcia, good to have another Liverpool fan here. Smile

Are you a Scouser?

DoctorTwo · 04/12/2013 09:50

Surprisingly not keen on Leeds United but they don't inspire the rage in me as much as Rotherham are this Year. 'orrible specimen of a manager they've got.

I used to be a member of a tinpot non-league forum that used Steve Evans instead of a particular profanity. He is the sole reason for my otherwise irrational hatred of Boston Utd, Trawley Clown and Rotherham Utd. Vile excuse for a human being.

Pan · 04/12/2013 10:18

Do we have to google Steve Evans then? Wondering what inspires such contempt.

That bloody Steve Evans, completely shafted Boston Utd. Tosser. Angry

DoctorTwo · 04/12/2013 11:55

That utter Steve Evans Steve Evans avoided jail by the skin of his teeth for tax evasion and paying players bonuses illegally in cash whilst manager of Boston. This was the year they bought achieved promotion from the Vauxhall Conference before the crooks were caught and Boston went broke.

At Crawley he denied they were being bankrolled by a wealthy benefactor and basically lied that the best players in non league were playing for peanuts and the love of Crawley Town. He shouts constant abuse at match officials. It's a wonder how he hasn't been clouted by a ref yet. He's universally reviled by fans of non-league who were around in the early 90s and again in the mid to late noughties.

A member of the old Conference Forum (RIP) by the name of Duncan Biscuit wrote a memorable and hilarious series of stories titled 'Meanwhile At Broadfield'. If memory serves me well he was threatened with libel.

Pan · 04/12/2013 12:06

Thanks Doctor - with that in mind I'd earlier reported my last post after making it.

And in a packed programme tonight.....we'll be doing it the old fashioned way and avoiding all scores and watch the festival of football on MOTD.

Horsemad · 04/12/2013 20:27

Snap!

DoctorTwo · 04/12/2013 21:12

Ditto.

mankyscotslass · 04/12/2013 21:33

Watching the Swansea - Newcastle match on TV whilst streaming and watching the West Brom -City match on the laptop and watching the other scores on the PC....

LuisGarcia · 04/12/2013 23:37

Are we allowed to talk yet?

LuisGarcia · 05/12/2013 00:27

At least Moyes has finally seen Everton beat Man U at Old Trafford!

Horsemad · 05/12/2013 06:30

Grin @ Moyes seeing Everton beating Man U!!!

Suarez is magic, isn't he? Great goals.

BelfastBloke · 05/12/2013 09:29

Am I changing my mind about Suarez? I was adamant that I didn't want Arsenal to buy him, but i can't deny his brilliance.

Hang on, though, Bendtner scored for us last night. "We've got the best player, in his head…."

LuisGarcia · 05/12/2013 09:36

"Here's the bathroom, over there's the kitchen, and this is the Norwich City match-ball room"
