AIBU to wish Steve Redgrave would do one? Fed up of him muscling in on others' glories Angry

Saltire · 07/08/2012 18:41

Am I the only one who gets irritated by bloody Jill Douglas Grin

NaturalWinningNaturesTeamGB · 07/08/2012 18:42

Sad what an end

evilgiraffe · 07/08/2012 20:20

:( ??? Why sad? Pendleton got a silver - that's bloody good! Hurrah for her!

I like Steve Redgrave, and he's totally allowed to celebrate with Hoy - our old greatest Olympian passing on the mantle to our new one seems nice to be honest.

evilgiraffe · 07/08/2012 20:21

GoCav - hell yes! A couple of years of cheering him on the road, and then he might be racing in a velodrome near you - or better, near ME Grin

SeashellsAllezModInYellowAllez · 07/08/2012 20:25

I had hoped the gb team would have done a victory parade at the velodrome tonight and got Cav out the commentary box, made wiggo put down his vodka and tonic for a moment and soaked up that success - they have been incredible :)

A gold would have been a fairy tale for VP, but her silver was an amazing success and she was fairly beaten in the last race - ad it was by her greatest rival so fitting.

Just an awesome games for cycling - and we still have BMX or something left

SeashellsAllezModInYellowAllez · 07/08/2012 20:27

3 TdF and then a year full track training I reckon - but he will have his work cut out, ther will be a lot of competition for a place in the team pursuit/omnion

NaturalWinningNaturesTeamGB · 07/08/2012 21:35

Sad for Hoys last olympics, we've watched him for years and for Vicki going too.

We have another Olympic great though Grin and BMX with Reade still to go.

evilgiraffe · 07/08/2012 21:57

Oh, I see. You are forgiven, then :)

I like the idea of a victory parade, but it wouldn't be quite cricket to do it there and then, would it? I'd love Laura Trott to be the closing ceremony flag bearer though, or perhaps all the cyclists passing it between them.

ivykaty44 · 07/08/2012 22:01

They've only done it to stop GB domination in every event

wel that didn't work - did it Grin

harsh race for VB but think the officials were running scared of any problems with us winning so much gold

yellowraincoat · 07/08/2012 22:16

I don't think VP has been treated fairly at all. Harsh DQ in team sprint, harsh relegation today. That's why I feel sad for her.

NaturalWinningNaturesTeamGB · 07/08/2012 22:24

Grin I think the entire team led by Laura would be rubbing noses in it a bit but what the hell.

Feel a wee bit sorry for the french guy though, first Hoy and now Kenny.

Who fancys bets on what type of round wheels there'll be in Rio Grin

LostInWales · 07/08/2012 22:59

news.images.itv.com/image/file/74587/article_16c7a56224194e6f_1344363553_9j-4aaqsk.jpeg Laura and Brad, sorry you'll have to c&p it into your browser as I'm on the phone.
I think a lot of track events are concluded on who was in/out of a specific line. Still gutted for Victoria though. She has an Olympic gold and silver in the end though. Not too shoddy Wink

LostInWales · 07/08/2012 23:07

Actually sod that, Mears looks like a right cow watching the programme now. Fat arse

flowery · 07/08/2012 23:15

Was in the velodrome for this tonight. Absolutely amazing stuff!

ThePan · 07/08/2012 23:22

I thought Mears is rather pretty.

NaturalWinningNaturesTeamGB · 07/08/2012 23:24

Flowery, oh wow, you are so so so lucky, glad to here it was amazing, tell more please Grin

NaturalWinningNaturesTeamGB · 07/08/2012 23:26

hear Hmm

LostInWales · 07/08/2012 23:28

Flowery how amazing, you lucky thing.

Mears is probably beautiful with a fantastic personality, I am being mean 'cos I love Victoria.

flowery · 08/08/2012 07:48

We got the tickets a while ago in the second ballot. It was just incredible, the noise, the atmosphere. I shouted myself hoarse.

We were sat opposite the start/finish line directly behind Chris Hoy's wife, who was very slim and glamorous.

flowery · 08/08/2012 07:49

is slim and glamorous, not was. She probably still is this morning, to be fair. Grin

ivykaty44 · 08/08/2012 20:27

The rules mean that if you get elbowed by your opposition then you can't do anything but fall off if it means you go over the line - they seem to be making it up as it goes along

DontSweatTheSmallStuff · 08/08/2012 22:37

NaturalWinningNaturesTeamGB - I will bet on "round wheels, not nearly round but REALLY round" Grin

ThePan · 08/08/2012 23:02

Rio - there'll be a new rule that anyone claiming British identity has to run around the track and not cycle it. Bring on Mo Fahrar!

NaturalWinningNaturesTeamGB · 08/08/2012 23:26

Don't, what REALLY round wheels Grin

ThePan, Grin probably still be faster than the bikes with nearly round wheels

Reade did really well today.
