Can someone explain the funny bike at the front of this race? I get that it's called the durney - but what's it doing? Why can't they just race?

PuffPants, they get the speed up to 45km and then the bike goes off. Makes it more exciting. I love keirin.

And I love Victoria Pendleton, what a star.

I don't understand some of these funny track races. Why don't they do away with the guy on the motorbike and just sprint for 3 laps?

Builds up the speed, doesn't it? Makes it more exciting. It's not about the start of the race so much, cos everyone's starting from the same speed, so it's a bit of a different race.

I was hoping there was going to be some Mark Cavendish appreciation here I love him! On a cycling not good start to todays session another new record and jason kenny through to the next round.

Right, sorry about that, I get a bit passionate about my boy. My colleague at work could shut me up in an instant last year by saying 'Cav and Peta are having a baby' . Team GB cyclists are just awesome at the moment, Brailsford is some kind of mad genius. I'm having a great time watching the mad cat and mouse sprint race.

I think we'll find there are more and more and more soon. Wiggo and Cav are great ambassadors for the sport let alone the rest of the guys in the velodrome. They all seem to be really lovely people too apart from that stupid 19 year old with Hoy the other day

Got to defend Pendleton as well to whoever was putting her down up the thread. As she said in an article last week, she doesn't care if people want her to carry on, she's trained since she was 9 and she wants a break now. She gets married in a few weeks, I hope she settles down and has gorgeous babies with her husband, if she has to do some media work to support that I think she's earned it after so much hard work.

Did I scare you all off with my overexcitedness for all things cycling. Sorry, I promise to stop being so boisterous.

Been watching all things tennis, I have more idea what's going on - normally.

I'm here! Was bathing the kids and missing ed Clancy :( now stuck watching Gruffalo forthe x100 time!

Bothe Cav and wiggins have hinted at being on the Track in Rio which would be amazing :) Wiggins said he couldn't see himself defending his yellow jersey 6 times like lance Armstrong given the pressure it puts on having any kind of life outside of cycling - I can see that Victoria Pendleton may have had enough and want to do something else in the future...they have to retire at some point, and those that race beyind mid 30s tend to be mad (like jens voight...if anyone is on twitter follow him he is a loon)

As for Cav, did you see Miller tweet he could really really dance? Good rhythm, stamina, toned physique, beautiful eyes
