I've dithered between putting it in this section and the weather section.....

Quick disclaimer: Remember I'm an amateur forecaster and so I do get things wrong. Please don't make critical decisions based on any forecasts in this thread!

I'll only work up to 10 days in advance (which is five more days than I do normally any more than that and it really is getting into utter guess work. Anything after 5 days is really just trends and possibilities) Also please bear with me if I dont get round to answering everyones individual questions. As we go through the days the forecasts will change.

So:
27th July (Opening Ceremony)
All 3 main models I look at are showing a low pressure developing to the south with a warm (hot in the se?) and humid air mass. This means that heavy showers are likely in the south possibly with thunderstorms. (nature adding an extra light show to the evenings entertainments?)

Sat 28th July
Cooler, with temps in the south in the low 20's. (In Scotland it looks bloody cold according to GFS, with temps struggling to reach 10C!) Unsettled with widespread showers.

"Sun 29th July*
Looking decidedly unsettled according to GFS with low pressure dominating and cool temps - mid to high teens pretty much across the UK. However ECMWF looks more optimistic with high pressure forming in the wings - so lets hope that is the more accurate model :)

It's not a bad day here on the SE coast. We had rain overnight and first thing, but it's lovely now - fluffy clouds and the washing drying a treat on the line. I hope everyone at the events are enjoying them as much as I did, I'm sure they are Smile.

OhYouGreatGreatBritain · 04/08/2012 17:51

Same here :) a deluge this morning, but quite warm and sunny since.

OhYouGreatGreatBritain · 05/08/2012 09:46

Very similar to Sunday but as they clear through, western areas of Wales and england could end up with a fine afternoon and evening.

Tues
Drier in the morning away from western coasts but by the end of the day, once again showers or rain covering much of England and Wales. Scattered showers in Scotland

Weds
Showers much more scattered Probably feeling rather humid in the sunshine. Note now that the met office have forecast fog for central England for the morning!!

Thurs, Fri
A temporary reprieve! High pressure WOOHOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

OhYouGreatGreatBritain · 05/08/2012 09:49

Note weather warnings for todays heavy rain

SparklingGoldMedals · 05/08/2012 09:55

Worcestershire here. No rain yet although it has been promised for a while. Looks like today may be the day.

OhYouGreatGreatBritain · 05/08/2012 23:12

It cleared up here to leave a lovely afternoon.
Showers can often look awful on the weather map, but so often they aren't such a pain in reality.

OhYouGreatGreatBritain · 06/08/2012 09:09

Somewhat harder for me to update for the next few days as I've had to pack my computer away ( we are finally replacing our 20+ year old carpet!) the house is a disaster area!

Today's weather warnings

Back in a mo with the rest hopefully!

OhYouGreatGreatBritain · 06/08/2012 09:20

Mon, showery, particularly heavy in the east with perhaps the west clearing up this afternoon to leave a fine evening.

Tues. Rain for the south moving in( bloody typical, tomorrow's the day when the furniture needs to be out of the house. Aargh) Scattered showers elsewhere with some spots staying dry.

Wed. Some scattered showers in the south, but generally a rather nicer picture :)

Thurs. Hooray! I think low cloud could be a bit of a plague for some east and west coastal areas, with perhaps a few spots of rain, but in general a rather nice day.

Fri. Bloody gorgeous. Though maybe a bit of rain for n. Wales.

Sat. Remaining nice for the eastern side? Stupid low pressure for the western side bringing rain.

Sun. Bastard weather returns to form.

OhYouGreatGreatBritain · 06/08/2012 10:14

OhYouGreatGreatBritain · 06/08/2012 10:22

OhYouGreatGreatBritain · 06/08/2012 14:59

Thunder here.

TeamGBsometimes · 06/08/2012 15:19

Sunshine and showers here. Nothing too spectacular.

OhYouGreatGreatBritain · 08/08/2012 08:18

Morning all, sorry for the hiccup in proceedings yesterday, I had to leave extra early cos we went to the triathlon :) currently lazing in bed so will catch up with the weather in a bit.

OhYouGreatGreatBritain · 09/08/2012 08:06

ok, clearly yesterday didnt happen, but I've got my pc back up and running :)

Today:
Well, it loked like the models early in the week were correct with a warm/hot dry day, with many places seeing lots of sunshine. temps in mid-high 20s in the south, cooler in the north.

Fri
Very similar picture, bit warmer in the south. Remaining cooler in Scotland and northern England

Sat
Still dry almost everywhere, just perhaps the very odd isolted shower in Scotland and the far SW :) Temps starting to come back down.

Sun (olympic closing ceremony)
Rain moves in across England, but perhaps not making it into the SE. Northern England may stay dry. The odd shower in eastern Scotland. Rather warm in the SE, cooler elsewhere.

OhYouGreatGreatBritain · 09/08/2012 08:39

bump :)

TheDoctrineOfEnnis · 09/08/2012 08:47
