@StClare101 there’s a whole thread on getting rid of molluscum in kids. I’ll try to find it for you.

Autumn61 · 02/01/2023 21:32

Magnesium sulphate.

CoffeeBoy · 02/01/2023 21:43

Dh frequently uses the glass bottle trick on a cyst I have had on the back of my neck for 15 years. Never damages the surrounding skin. It does work and gets bits of the cyst out but sadly it’s so solid 95% of it always remains. I even once had a doctor friend tried to get rid of it and she had local anaesthetic and a scalpel and gave up …..I suspect she wasn’t a sporner though.

We used Molutrex on both our boys and cleared it up. Our first son had it for 2-3 years - didn't realise you could get anything for it. Found this and it got rid of them all. Used it on my second son as soon as I saw a couple and they went with no spreading.

That looks like your DD has
Molluscum Contagiosum!!

I wanna see the pop

See it? I want to hear it. Nothing better than the satisfying sound of a pressure release (I'm not talking a fart either!!).

Tamarindtree · 02/01/2023 22:38

Have you got a Henry or Hetty vacuum cleaner that you could place over it after piercing it sideways?

SnowlayRoundabout · 02/01/2023 23:02

Tamarindtree · 02/01/2023 12:26

An inventor could produce a device that could be held like a gun and a trigger pulled which would activate a fine needle/syringe that would penetrate a boil to draw up pus whilst the nozzle of the gun would cover the area and provide suction into a disposable chamber.

It could also play some rousing classical music such as -

I used to fantasise about something like that when DS had a mahoosive red, pulsing spot on his nose which he wouldn't let me near. In my fantasy the needle would be so fine and so sharp that I would be able to attack the spot when he was asleep without waking him, so I would get away with it.

Stewball01 · 02/01/2023 23:12

I'd get it seen to professionally. You could get blood poisoning if you play with it yourself. Good luck.

AwNo · 02/01/2023 23:24

@Tamarindtree Please don't joke like that!! Someone may think you are serious

I was being serious!

This medical chap here thinks it’s ok to suction it out -

Just here for the money shot.

Do you think this would work on mollescum on a child? We just can’t get rid of the damn things.

My friend swears by taking a needle to the herald spot as it kick starts the immune system into getting rid of them.

Jillybloop393 · 03/01/2023 00:28

The recruitment is working.

PigletInABlanketJohn · 03/01/2023 01:04

I don't think it's a boil, I think it's a carbuncle, and it will need professional draining, not home treatment.

Getting into your GP is currently a bit of a nightmare.

Don't wait another day.

PigletInABlanketJohn · 03/01/2023 01:09

If I am right it will leave a serious scar, much worse if you leave it to burst.

"When to see your GP

See your GP if you think you have a carbuncle."

me109f · 03/01/2023 01:46

If it is central and at the base of the spine and at the top of your bum crack leave it until the doctor has seen it. It could have a tubular infection that is based on the spinal nerves and it needs careful surgery. They are very painful and can be very dangerous and persistant if you meddle with it.
If it is not over your spine, then the above does not matter.

BoreOfWhabylon · 03/01/2023 04:00

That definitely needs professional treatment (as I said earlier)

Also, the article about the dr using suction - he's talking about using a rigid medical suction device (Yankauer sucker - google it) inside the large incision he's created with a scalpel, just to stop the contents of the abscess from flying all over the place. The contents are sucked straight into a sealed container, which also reduces the horrendous smell.

I like a good sporn thread as much as anyone but abscesses should not be messed about with by enthusiastic amateurs. Can lead to widespread infection, scarring and sepsis.

SheWoreYellow · 03/01/2023 22:08

How are you doing, OP? 😀

Bluey2022 · 03/01/2023 22:35

Sorry for the delay - I'm in shock at how many responses I've had 🤣

Just need to work out how to upload the video - it was EPIC! And I felt instant relief ! Have drowned it in TCP so will be keeping a close eye on it !

Bluey2022 · 03/01/2023 22:38

Also, it is not near the bottom of my spine as such, definitely right at the top.in the middle above my left cheek !

I had a carbuncle on my upper back once, that was a job for antibiotics and I slept whilst it drained itself 🤣🤦‍♀️

I seem to get these epic spots/boils semi regularly so will definitely upload again in future for those of you who enjoy it as much as me 😎

Ready and waiting ..... what a fantastic start to the new year! Okay, maybe not for you Bluey2022, but just keep in mind that you're now famous, (and you sound like you're loving your boil) so it's a double whammy, a win win situation for us all!! Lol x
