Shall we see if we can get some funding from Dragon’s Den?! 😂

Don't try and burst it. Go to GP (if possible) and you'll probably get Flucloxacillin.

cavalier · 02/01/2023 18:24

You may need antibiotic .. get
to docs if I were you …

Fortunefavoursthebrave · 02/01/2023 18:33

I've had a pilonidal sinus on my tailbone twice and have never felt pain like it! The first time it started a bit like your pics then got rapidly bigger, to the point I couldn't sit down for the pain. The GP took one look and sent me straight to A&E as it was almost the size of an orange.
I was pregnant at the time and ended up in surgery getting it drained under local anaesthetic. I also got antibiotics and had to get it cleaned and packed daily for 2 weeks as it was an open wound which was excruciatingly painful. Not trying to scare you but my advice would be to go get it checked ASAP as it will need treatment.

I treat external boils and abscesses with a tumeric paste (tumeric spice and water). Smear it on the boil and cover with gauze. Leave for about 30 minutes. It draws all the pus to the surface. This method has been an absolute lifesaver for me in the past.

I 100% agree with this. It has prevented many trips to a GP.

Might be wrong but that looks like molluscum contagiosm(sp?)

I agree, this does look like that ( I had it last year.....near my lady bits and on one side of lady bits....eek) I went for an app with my GP and she told me it was herpes!!!!!!!!! Ahem, I was in a new relationship at that point after been with my husband for 14 years......I got checked out at sexual health clinic, put my big girl pants on and told my new partner, he was fine about it and was tested too to put my mind at ease, he is a divorcee. Tested for EVERYTHING, and all clear.

Soooooooo, my GP then changed her mind to this molluscum thingsy, gave us pamphlets, my boy and my partners 2 young boys don't have it. It can appear in groin area, backs of knees, inside elbows, neck. GP suggested picked up from swimming, yuk. Very sore and itchy, if you do scratch, as I did in my sleep, they just bleed and bleed, scab again, itch more, bleed. Apparently can last for months. PLEASE DO NOT try to pop them, it will get worse, but ask GP to look at it xx

This will be filed away neatly in my head until a time it's needed. Thankyou!

Doctor told me and colleagues he’s never seen one so big while looking at my 19 yr old arse. It needs to heal from the inside out. Please go to a&e.

ifonly4 · 02/01/2023 20:11

Bluey2022 is there any chance it could be a pilonial cyst on your tailbone, ie at the every top of the bum cheeks? If so, you really need a doctor's appointment tomorrow - any decent doctor will see you - it won't go away and you could end up riding around in pain. DD has had a few and either been prescribed ABs (and then sadly surgery) or in lockdown GP took her word for it and told her to self admit to hospital twice for surgery - despite covid they took her in with no question. Don't want to worry you, but don't let it get worse.

Everydaywheniwakeup · 01/01/2023 19:08

Is it a pilonidal sinus? If so I'd lance the beast then suggest you need to speak to your GP as they are rarely just a lone traveller.

Pilonidal Sinus occur at the top of the bum crack, as it is caused by ingrown hair tract where the crease is. They usually are a singular, but if its really bad it can turn into an abscess and need draining. Mine was done under GA and left as an open wound for 1.5. months before i had an op to remove the tract. My uncles was drained in hospital for a few weeks.
My brothers girlfriend lanced his and removed the hair clump which came out like a paintbrush. Narrow at the top and fanned out.

This needs a sterile needle and some gently pressing to release the pressure. If it doesnt heal id then go to the gp

I love your brother's girlfriend. And the fact that pilonidal sinus cysts seem to be a family heirloom for you and yours - you, your brother, your uncle...how many more???

OP, I hope A&E has gone OK for you and DS - but please, come back and update us on The Beast.

I'd put a needle in that

Yes. Absolutely.

I am slightly jealous of his girlfriend. If it wasnt my brothers arse id have loved to get stuck in lol
I also would have lanced my own if i could have reached!

The pain was horrendous though and the abscess was that big they thought id broken my coccxyx as it was at a right angle from the pressure. The worst was getting the wound packed for weeks with no painkillers. I wouldnt wish it on anyone.

ifonly4 · 02/01/2023 20:56

EricNorthmanYesPlease - my DD can probably top you. She was eventually given surgery to remove problem area once and for all (after four cut and drains). As it was during catch up after covid she had it done in a private hospital - great, but that time she had stiches and they ended up being taken out far too early, leaving DD to cope with a split wound and 5-6 month of packing - luckily DD had a friend who was a trained nurse who showed me what to do, thus avoiding so many trips to the nurse for dressing changes.
