A new school year brings plenty of excitement, but it can also come with lots of questions. Whether your child is starting Reception, moving into a new year group or simply settling back into school routines, September can bring everything from first-day nerves and friendship worries to packed lunch dilemmas and lost uniform.

That's why we've invited primary school teacher Emily Cheer to answer your questions about preparing for the new school year. Whether you're looking for practical tips, reassurance or advice on what to expect, Emily is here to help.

About Emily
Emily is a primary school teacher with 14 years of classroom experience across Early Years, Key Stage 1 and Key Stage 2. As a parent herself, she understands the worries, questions and emotions that come with each new school year, from both a teacher's and a parent's perspective. She's passionate about supporting children and their families, and is looking forward to sharing her experience to help answer parents' questions and ease any back to school worries.

We're working with Tesco to help take the stress out of back-to-school shopping. From great-value, quality-guaranteed school uniform to stationery, lunchboxes and water bottles, you'll find all your back-to-school essentials in one place

Everyone who posts a questions by 30 September will be entered into a prize draw to win a £200 Tesco voucher (T&Cs)

We’ve fairly recently moved away from the school and it’s no longer in walking distance. As a result, my child is missing out on playing with local friends after school. How important is after school contact do you think? I’m worried he’s losing all his friends but he seems relaxed about it
